I'm going to start replenishing my auto books as they were lost and was curious if any one has an opinion on the book series "Sportscar Profile Series" by Kazuo Higaki under the Tankobon publisher? They seem to have very attractive books on Porsches, Ferraris, Fords and Chaparrals to name a few.

Well I don't have as much experience as the other builders who have replied, however I've found the Alclad Grey Micro-Filler Primer pretty awesome. I do thin it a little, say 20% thinner to 80% primer. The thinners I use are either Tamiya Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Leveling Thinner.

Ah yes, this will be invaluable info. I look forward to what you find. From what I've read, one can wet sand with 3200 grit and higher. Apparently there polyurethane mix is a must.

Do you mind posting some pics? Do you see it as a good automotive finish?

Well, I'm contemplating Mission Models Paints; https://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/mission-models-paint-thinner-polyurethane-primer-and-paint-part-1 https://dnmodels.com/all/mission-models-us-acrylics/ I've read a few sources stating that more colors are planned. My only reluctance is that all of the positive reviews of this paint are by builders of military subject matter. And automotive finishes are very different then military finishes.

Curious if any one has used Mission Models Paints? Would love to read your thoughts, experiences etc... I've read and watched some very positive reviews. Seems to be a lacquer replacement of sorts.

In terms of metallic flakes being a bit too large with certain brands and colors, can one use a thinner to reduce there size? I ask this as Gaianotes makes a metallic thinner (T-09) for the same thing.

Well, I did manage to rescue a few kits, one of them was the SMP24 Mangusta. My day dream was to build the race car pictured in blue. Now if only SMP24 would re release the 1/24 69' Ferrari 512 Specialé Berlinetta, I'd be one happy camper! As hhhhhhhappy as a hhhhhhhippo!

It's actually as quiet as my old PointZero. I had Lowes turn on a floor model for me. Was really surprised as to how quiet it was.

I had that one and it worked pretty well. However I went to Lowes and will most likely buy this one when I'm ready. It's small, quiet, light and well priced. Plus a 1 year warranty. This is exactly what I used to do. Once cleaned well, do more periodic cleanings.

I've used SuperClean on a stainless steel paint cup and it tarnished pretty badly. I only had it soaking for 30 minutes. So I'd suggest not using SuperClean.

Hi, While I'm leaning towards an air brush with a 1 gallon tank which worked well for me, I'm shopping for a compressor as I lost mine. Curious what you all think these smaller types by either Iwata or Paasche; Or one of these Iwata units; Then there is this larger one that tickles my fancy, larger I know but it seems very well received; PS I'm kinda leaning towards the Iwata SmartJet, it has a tiny air tank reservoir to boot and with a HobbyLobby 60% coupon, it makes it very nice. I'm assuming Iwata support is very good?

How about a paint brush rack? I preferred that as well. However I was starting to use a beer bottle (Corona Light to be exact). I had warped a body using Tamiyas paint stand. The shape was such that it would only stay on at the highest spring rate. Well, after a few days of being on the stand, it had widened

I soaked mine in SuperClean every now and then as I like running a clean shop. I'm looking for a new paint oriented stand now as mine was lost. To be honest, I wasn't too crazy about it.
