  1. Hi, I'd have to concur with Petski as any 3D modeling software will take time to use. Fortunately Maya is available for a modest monthly rental and there are several courses like those offered on lynda.com that can help. Although my client has been using Modo and Blender more and more for modeling tasks. Maya has become a bit Swiss Army Knife-ish.
  2. Hi, This may clear things up a bit;
  3. Hi, Very very nice info. Shapeways has a new smoothest finish option and I wonder what those look like. Not all parts are offered with it, or even the finish that I opted for. Perhaps casters should start learning 3D modeling warez. I've been so very disappointed in placing orders for very very cool kits to then be contacted later saying "Sorry the mold is worn and I can't make another..." In fact, I have a 1/24 Fisher Ferrari 365 White Elephant that will never be available again. I was very very very lucky to have bought it when I did.
  4. Hi, In terms of 3D prints, I'm not too thrilled on em. At east the ones I bought on Shapeways having opted for the smoothest finish at a premium. The current problem is in the print lines or striations in the 3d printed part. I'll snap some pics but this seems to be the nature of printing in 3D as it prints in layers. A mold is still the cleanest and smoothest, to me anyways. I had to sand, primer, sand, primer and so on... to get the part pretty smooth. On top of that it was very very brittle so caution had to be taken. Monsignor Engwers post about a cheaper and faster way to make molds seems the way to go.
  5. Hi, I think that they are doing a fine job. I'm eyeing there 67' Shelby GT350 as well as some of there just announced kits. At least they do frequent release videos which no other manufacturer seems to do.
  6. Hi, This is great as I'm looking forward to Vega Rat Trap and 65' Riviera. Both are currently very expensive due to there age and rarity. I'm new to scale modeling so this release is a great opportunity to get these seemingly classic kits. Bravo!
  7. Hi, After some amount of pondering and deliberation, I've decided to go with the simple curbside 1/24 Monogram kit. I preferred its shape/lines best of all. Thank you for posting such nice information about the car. It's a gem. My goal would be to one day own a Beck 904, what a car!
  8. Hello and thank you for all the wonderful replies. Lots of great info here. Thanks again.
  9. Hello every one, I had recently had many of my beloved kits stolen in addition to other things and so I'm on the hunt for some replacements. One of them is the wonderful Porsche 904 and so I'm curious if any one has pictures comparing 1/25 vs 1/24 Porsche 904 kits? I had a 1/24 but it seemed rather big as the real car was pretty small. I'm thinking 1/25 would be more appropriate but don't completely trust scale labeling of older kits much. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi, I called them a few months back. Very nice BTW. At the time, they could no longer produce tires, something about sourcing issues. No ETA either. So I'm unsure. I'd suggest calling them to get the info first hand, they are located in Montclair, California. http://www.pegasushobbies.net/
  11. Hi JC, I got it from Model Builders Warehouse to accompany the HRM Dino trans-kit although he stated that they would probably not be accurate. To me it's better then nothing as I'm unsure if there are accurate decals for this car.
  12. Hello and thank you for the great info. After reading your post, I finally realized what these decals are for; HRM Dino 246 72' LeMans transkit.
  13. Hello and thank you JC!
  14. Hello esteemed community, I've been doing some house cleaning and found the below decals of which I have zero idea what that should go to. Would any one happen to know?
  15. Hi, You can try; http://futurattraction.com/9.html I have a set of his drag slicks and they are top shelf!
  16. Hi, What a wonderful post and boy do they know how to run a business, kudos to them! While I've never been a customer of there's, who knows, perhaps there future kits may entice me. Doing a Google images search for modelhuas showed me amazing and wonderfully crafted items that they had. Wow man, total treasures, pure beauty. It's unfortunate that they didn't find a suitor. I think there business would have been a great second and new career for some one with a decent head on there shoulders for good business which is simply good products and good customer service and of course very importantly; good money sense. They already have tremendous street cred so no need to really advertise there. And they have there shopping cart seriously polished.
  17. Hello and thank you sirs. Also got an email from Alclad which confirmed your thoughts/observations. They said that it can be cut down with there transparent medium to lighten it up a bit.
  18. Hello all, I'm in the last phases of my projects from the demon web pits (meaning a serious struggle). Curious about something; my Alclad Gunmetal looks to have a purple tint. In hopes of lightening it up a tad, I mixed Tamiya lacquer white with it which seemed to bring out the purple even more. Any thoughts on why the purple tint would be greatly appreciated? Do I need to mix it/shake it up better?... Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi, This is pretty darn awesome. And I agree, this kit is for sh$t but you made it look fantastic. Proof that one can indeed polish a turd.
  20. Hello and thank you sir. This all makes sense to me. Yes my older decals were brittle so it sounds like a clear coat on the sheet is the right call Thanks again..
  21. Hello every one, I'm in need of something gentle for older decals and it seems that Scale Motorsports Decal Magic may be the perfect solution. Has any one tried the seemingly fine product? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi, I absolutely love your build process. So darn cool!
  23. ... failure and disappointment. Actually I've had 2 kits in the pipeline forever and will post them in the workbench section soon.
  24. Hi, I think we are all witnessing something fantastical here. I'm speechless.
  25. Hi Chris, Can you post more pics as this looks lovely!
