Tool for bending copper/brass tubes/rods
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Oh cool, did you get this one; http://www.harborfreight.com/tubing-bender-3755.html -
Hi all, I've a batch of K&S copper, aluminum and brass tubes and rods in 3/32", 5/32", 9/32" and 1/4". The brass and copper tubing seem really hard to bend. I saw this K&S spring style tube bender and read that if you place the tubes/rods in a freezer that it will be easier to bend. Is the suggested method? Thanks in advance.

Did a quick re-paint/re-touch up on the axles and intake manifold. The photos revealed a bit too much texture for my liking. I got this awesome mini precision sander type handle from UMM-USA that lets me get in very small and tight spaces.

Hi, Got the power plant mostly done. Finished up the wheels too. Did some work on the cockpit too.

Hi, I tried jet.com and got a 27oz bottle of the Pledge Floor Care x2 shine for $1.40 shipped. Sorta blown away with how cheap it was.

Thanks for all the kind replies. I already see several areas I could improve upon. Funny how a photo can show flaws that can otherwise be missed by the naked eye. I'm looking forward in finishing up my next project.

Here is his 2015 catalog. I've seen other kits not listed on his blog that he mentioned being discontinued but can still make. -
Pretty much done with resin.

Well in defense of buying from unknown or questionable casters, if they have rare subject matter, then I can see wanting to take a chance. I "waz" gonna do the same being hot and heavy over a 1/24 Ferrari 333SP. But after sending a few unanswered emails and reading posts about said caster when his kit was current made me forget the idea. Not worth the frustration no matter how rare the subject is. -

Wow, i just caught thtis. This is one SERIOUS build WOW. I have this kit after seeing yours will wait on it for good loooong time -
Well, you'll notice that its transverse, the original kit has small plastic integrated stacks. I drilled em out, drilled the aluminum ones I had and put a small brass pipe in each. Keep in mind this is the Fujimi Wolf Dino based on some anime. Here is what it looked like;

Hi, So I am revamping this bad boy completely and bashing it with a Kraco Indy. My original idea, while met with much enthusiasm here, was a total buzz kill when I posted finished shots. I love this project, or the idea of it anyways.

Hi, After doing the Renault Alpine, I swore I would wait until doing a car similar in decal madness. Well, I didn't. Awaiting final paint coats.

Hi, So this Volki slot kit was a 712 but was HORRID and mean it. Total junker so I am making it a sort of combo 712/Spurling Special. I've attached before and after. This is one that I am waiting for that clogged paint can I posted about. The paint, a Design Master primer is fabulous! It sprays thick, dries in minutes and sands easily to a buttery smooth finish. I've a few more primer coats left but here she is. And man, it was a lot fo work for me, I mean a lot. Complicating matters was the fact that I cut her in half not needing to. My goal it to kit bash with a Ferrari F1 being the Hasegawa 642. I used; Bondo Spot Putty Tamiya White Putty Super Glue Zap a Gap CA accelerent Wet, damp and dry sand with 400-600 grit.

I waited a week for the light to be, well not as bad as its been. My iPhone 6 as with all camera phones have poor light gathering capabilities. I'm already finding ways to make this kit way better but I must move on, seriously. But I wanna keep buying it.
-
Yep, it's prolly what draws me to it as I love both those cars. This kit is worth getting and even more worth full detailing.
-
Yep, u b right! It's the miser in me that I must surpress

First many thanks for all the replies as I didn't think I'd get any. I think the dip tube etc as Monsignor Ace mentioned is clogged. The nozzle has been thoroughly cleaned and tested on other cans. I called the manufacturer who said there paint is thick and requires much shaking. They are sending me out a new can free of charge, it's a pity this nearly full can won't be used. Even if I freeze it, who knows, the paint itself could be damaged.

Hi, I've a rather expensive can of paint which no longer sprays. I've tried different nozzles etc and the problem looks to be inside the can. Since I can't decant it due to lack of spray, is there another other way to get the paint out of it? I'm guessing no. I was going to put it in the freezer over night and then take a pellet gun to it so that I can get the paint out but this sounds too juvenile.

Thanks all for the rather generous replies.

It's a Fujimi. They make 2 versions; a 206 Competizione and a Dino Wolf. This is the latter w/o the Wolf decals.
-
I was trying to be creative. Didn't turn out like I had hoped. Another don't do on my list.
-
That's a great idea, thanks! I'll do that next time.

Hi, I really liked doing my first Dino 206 kit but it got sorta messed up. So I bought another one. I had some issues with it though, mainly in finishing. I forgot to drill the side mirror holes and decided to glue em on the painted body. Not wanting to mess up the paint, I cut little base plates and glued them on there. However I didn't align em with each other so its a bit cattywampus, kinda like a bad boob job Also, I've been terrified doing spray paint and this was the first kit I actually started to enjoy spraying. One of the many Yodas frequenting this forum mentioned knowing how there paint was going to turn out before spraying. I thought "wow how cool would that be". While model building is still very new to me, its getting more and more fun.
