  1. That's interesting. Well, lets see if HobbyEasy is off the mark on this. I'll know by 4/15 as I just did a pre order
  2. Curious if pre order pricing is cheaper or the same as release pricing? I'm tempted to pre order the FXX-K but its due to release 4/15. It's currently $40.26@HobbyEasy.
  3. You have to have rain and fires for that. Not much of either as of late.
  4. Now now, don't be jealous of our near perfect weather, high taxes, high high housing costs, high high high traffic congestion, high high high high as a kite political landscape and abysmal school systems. However it's not all leftist coast on the left coast ya know
  5. Cool deal thanks man. To quench my thirst, I went on 1999.jp and they had the kit contents listed there. I'm assuming this was the 78' V8?
  6. This makes a very very cool professional display piece for sure. Oddly enough I just watched the film last week since it first came out.
  7. Wow, nice turd Seriously, to get that from acrylic is incredible. Mine started out shiny and became dull upon polishing. But then again not all acrylics are equal. I used a spray can acrylic from Michaels, forgot the brand. Plus I tried polishing Tamiya bottle paint acrylics once, same out come, dull. What brand of acrylic are you using?
  8. Do you mind doing a kit review or un boxing?
  9. Hi, While not nearly as experienced as well.... every one else here, I'd suggest Mr. Clear (Mr Color or Mr Hobby or Gunze, man they have many names for there fromage) or Tamiya. I love em as you can buff em out. Acrylics as I found, buff as good as a fresh steamy turd.
  10. Wow totally killer car and great history Crazy Ed. If I'm not mistaken, drag racing started in the Valley, in that area I believe. I've said it before and I'll say it again, California was such a gem back then.
  11. All in all, I think it was pretty nice of them to announce there closure well in advance rather then do it all the sudden. I imagine them being up early and late to bed, neglecting proper diet, exercise and rest. To me, there actions do show a sort of duty to this hobby. Man, I do feel for them.
  12. Well, we don't know there fate just yet. They seem too substantial to simply close down. PS A great story but none the less an example. Chrysler declared chap 11 in the 80's where Lee Iacocca then brought em back from death. I'm hoping some biz man/entity finds inspiration to do the same here.
  13. Hope they stick around. I was gonna buy there newly released Talbot and Jag in a month.
  14. Hi, To add, I'd suggest using an inkjet with inkjet waterslide clear decal paper. There is a huge diff between the 2 varieties of waterslide decal paper being ink vs laser. I was using laserjet which seemed fine but when it came to tire lettering, the color was not heavy enough and got lost in the black. Because inket deposits ink, tire lettering should come noticeable.
  15. Well, I've been using an old color laser jet, some clear water slide decal sheets and Google Images to find what I need. There are a few free Photoshop equivalents to help you out. You can also use LibreOffice or Word to do it as well. PS The brand of scanner/printer is largely unimportant here. Just scan as PNG to preserve the alpha channel and 300 DPI or greater. You'll also need to bring it into a pic program to remove the blue-ish background present in decals. GIMP is fine as a freebie. Photoshop is the best though.
  16. Similar lines to mid 80's Mitsubishi and Toyota; http://www.spannerhead.com/category/mitsubishi/ http://bringatrailer.com/2014/01/06/61k-mile-1983-toyota-supra-p-type/
  17. I like that one, nice!!! Even to the casual observer, it never seemed like racing was about money. and in fact more like a money pit. What it is though, and Red Bulls approach any ways, was an avenue for advertising. I think they spent less money on F1 then they would have in there normal advert channels for roughly the same pay back.
  18. Both iBorg and afx make a lot of sense. I've also heard this echoed by a very knowledgeable college about racing in general. Seems like in today's climate, its the only viable approach. I suppose the come from behind, against all odds stories are over. And now every thing seems to need be logical, by the book and predictable. And of course first and foremost profitable, not enough to simply break even. One great sports story I will always recall as if it were yesterday and get teary eyed over was the 80' Winter Olympics and hockey team USA. I was on a plane when they won the gold and just about every one was cheering, teary eyed and Champagne was a flowin, free, on the house. I was 12ish.
  19. Wow, that was really lovely! Seemed like a pleasant day for a race.
  20. They are 1 piece and pretty cool looking.
  21. I got the short tail version. I'm doing something with one of the rear wheels.
  22. For sanity, they should simply renounce there retirement and go back to a more normal business flow. They simply seem too treasured and valued to close shop.
  23. Kit instructions; http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4378.pdf Seems like a cool little kit to base some fromage off of. PS Notice that I use "fromage" often and to me it sounds better then; thing, stuff, etc...
