  1. Thanks guys, much appreciate it! The kit comes in 3 versions; street, custom and drag. I made the rear wheels by combining the drag and custom. The fronts are the street version.
  2. Thanks cobraman. You'll notice one of the hood pins missing as it fell off during the photoshoot and I was over it already. Also the wheelie bar had a few mishaps and looks horrible but again, I was over it. I learned what I needed and moved on. I think the more models I have under my belt, the better I will become.
  3. Hi, This kit was fun to build but I would consider older ones like this advanced in that they require a lot of prep to make look right. Plus the directions aren't as polished as new kits of today. It didn't turn out quite as I imagined but its good enough to move on. I would personally drive this car around town looking for my next lunch if you catch my drift. Few things say "come mess with me" like a beefed up muscle car in pink. Again, I learned gobs from this build, mainly to do a moch build for proper look and fit. Also getting the hang of spray paint, will take a bit more but I feel a little better about it.
  4. Ok ok, I broke down and got a 1/24 Yodel R380 on a Japanese auction site for relatively cheap. Also got a Nissan Skyline Street Custom. I will mod its head for a split/angled look. I've always wanted an R380 in 1/24.
  5. Well, I think Mr E's first reply regarding a 240Z comboed with a Jag head is the call. However thats a lot of kits. I'll need 3 in all. I think I'll pass and focus on basic OOB builds. I'm stripping down my Chapparal 2D CanAm, correcting paint and adding a lot more detail. Plus I'm finishing up an Opel GT, contemplating my next basic build and a little while back started on a 356 dragster being a combo of the Revell kit and Wynns Charger. So I'll wait to spend money. When ready, I can use these as reference on how Fujimi did it; http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10000755z/70/1 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10000755z/70/2 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10000755z/70/3
  6. WOW, cool deal, thanks Monsignor Ace.
  7. Great info guys, MANY thanks. Curious, would this sorta work? Its off a Tamiya Skyline 2000 GTR which looks circa late 60's?
  8. Hi all, As I finish up a few builds, I contemplate my next and was wondering what would be a good source of the pictured engine below. Thanks in advance.
  9. Well, it's practically already 2016
  10. Hi, I've used both Super Clean and Purple Power and to me they work the same. I'm using Purple Power now due to easy availability at Walmart, 1 gallon for 5 buks. Tamiya laquers take about a day or 2 to srip. Chrome, a few hours.
  11. Hoping to see a post of that McLaren M6GT you're working on?
  12. Wow, you really know your subject matter AFX. Thats killer imfo.
  13. Ahh, a roll bar is very cool, thanks man. I'll look at some pics of similar cars to add more fromage back tere. Yes I feel this will be on going.
  14. Wow thanks guys. I'm stoked! While I'd like to redo the paint, its going to wait a bit. I need to move on and learn more if I'm to understand the basics. It truly is accumulating builds under ones belt as each build teaches that much more.
  15. Wow thats killer! OMG!
  16. Well, I don't think its on the decline. Some ppl like to think, most like it simple. There is nothing wrong with that. And its always been that way. However with the massive amounts of information seeminlgy easy to get to, it's an age of referance versus an age of problem solving. Still, it's about the same, in terms of those who think in complex form versus those who don't, same ol same ol. Of course in the end ppl will believe what they want and there is no changing that. A simple example and perhaps one that some may disagree with. I had an older gentlemen at work whom I consider above avg in IQ email me about his slow internet access to a site. I asked that he test access to other sites which was fine. I ended this transaction with the simple fact that thinking this out would have been faster and simpler then opening up your email, typing it out and sending. Just saying, we are becoming Googlized in some form.
  17. Wow, you've done a geat job, I love it! The pics are perfect, thank you very much!
  18. Killer man! That was my first car, I had 4 including a 48 state car which coulda had a legal super charger and no smog fromage legally! Glad I stayed out of an eBay auction just now. I'm hoping they will spruce it up a lil with better tires etc...
  19. Hi, Waking up a somewhat old thread. Is AMT/Round2 really re issueing the MK1 Scirocoo?
  20. Well, perhaps they have a 2J slot body you could use and kit bash it with another kit, perhaps a 2E since thats already a kit and a spider.
  21. Why thank you. You plan to scratch build a 1/24 2J? Its an interesting car, thats the turbine one right?
  22. Yep and you're right, patience is the key. I found luke warm water and a few layers of the softener to be the recipe. This time around the decals turned out good!
  23. Wow, thank you guys! I'm very appreciative. I may be getting a hold of proper Sunoco decals so if thats the case, I'll strip the decals and rid the orange peel. Get her nice and shiny as the paint job has kinda been buggin me. Its like I went 90% with this project instead of 110%.
  24. This is an interesting topic. I just joined PB so that I can post pics of my builds here rather then clog up Gregs site with stored pics. However its the free account with 2GB limit. Googel Drive has 15GB so I'm going to try that out next time I post a build. Granted its 15Gb spread across all your Google related fromage but still its 15GB.
  25. Hi, Does any one have a pic of the drag/street rod engine built? I'm unsure what angle the headers should be. Actually any pics of the drag/street rod kit built would be very very cool. The instructions are sparse and to me, this is seemingly an advanced kit.
