Hi, The history of this little car is very interesting. After watching Bullitt, Chaparral approached Steve McQueen to enhance its motor sports endeavors. Steve, having a fondness for Mustangs opted for a modified Ford V8, a 9.5ltr titanium block and head CanAm prototype engine. Ford's upper management figured because the Chevys were dominating the CanAm series with their distributor being in the back, so they decided to move theirs to the rear as well. Sunoco was going to be a sponsor but had dropped out last minute. Sadly the project was scrapped because the high mounted wing was outlawed. This was meant to be a further down the line project and not my 4th model (I'll stop counting after this as I'm sure some may be annoyed already). I learned a ton and it was one of those things I could have kept going with. Noodling here and there, changing this and that etc... but I wanted to finish her. My original plan was to use Sunoco decals but the ones I got many moons ago were pi$$ poor, bad resolution etc... I was going to bring em into Photoshop for some clean up etc but wanted to be done today. I'm looking forward in doing a more simpler model, one appropriate for my experience. So I've chosen a Round2 Opel GT 3 in 1 reissue which looks fun as hell. PS In terms of the orange peel, i was affraid of handling the body too much due to my recent experiences with it. So i didn't do much polishing. This is basically how she looked after paint and no treatment. I'm sure my fears were psychological but still I thought she'd fall appart etc...

Hi, I'm having issues with certain decals, mainly just the circled number type. I usually get em smooth (eventually) after applying decal softener several times over a period of time and a Q-Tip. Are there easier ways to manage this?

aurfalien replied to Pierre_tec's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hi, It's a fast dry enamal, pretty sure that is I don't think Krylon has any lacquer based paints. PS I think ppl will advise to test on some scrap. I would. -
Looks very cool and a lot of fun! I was thinking about getting into 1:1 carting. Soemthing my wife and I could have a lot of fun doing.

WordLens, sounds like a cool app! I did a quick search and it looks like a company called Quest Visual developed it and Google then bought the company and integrated there fromage into Translate.

Hi, So I got this kit and the directions are in German 100%. I installed Google Translate on my iPhone and simply moved the camera over various directions and its translating em realtime. Picture using a magifying glass and seeing the words on page convert to a diff language. Ofcourse its got some contextual issues but all in all a very dandy and handy little app to have.

Thanks CrazyEd and vintagercr! Your comments gives me a push to build more.

Thanks Twokids! This kit is the Yatabe one. Its sort of like a 2 in 1 in that in can do either the 206 or the Wolf. However it doesn't have the 206 decals, only the Wolf decals. I think Fujimi missed the boat as it could have done a full detail 2 in 1 with both sets of decals and this would have been an awesome kit.

Hi, This, my 3rd model started out wondefully until I melted the right side of the front end. Several things I learned; 1) Don't over analyse. I thought I could better the dry time by putting it out in the sun which resulted in melting. Just wait like every one else. 2) Don't fix what ain't broke. The paint this time around wasn't good over all. Simply because I read a bit about the difficulties with yellow and decided to do several mist coats. My original paint job which was far better, was simply 1 mist coat, 2 normal coats and a final wet coat. This technique works best for me and is one that many seeminlgy use. 3) Constantly test fit. I test fitted a small amount before the disaster and zero after. This resulted in having to correct after final paint. I did learn a lot and had fun. I would highly recommend this kit in either Dino 206 form or Dino Wolf Yatabe flavor (both Fujimi) as it's very well designed and offers the opportunity to customize. PS I poorly planned the rear wing and almost left it off. But the car would have looked out of balance due to the front air dam. PSS I'm happy to have finished but a bit dissapointed in my assembly an dgenral outcome. I sorta feel like it ruined the kit.
