  1. I'm also very much interested in either a 1:24 or 1:25 GMC Yukon (year doesn't really matter), but have had no luck whatsoever in finding one, other than die-cast, which is certainly not going to be my first choice.
  2. Aside from the (apparently hard to find), Revell '99 Silverado, which appears to be stock, I found this kit last night. My question: Does this kit have parts to build stock, or only this low rider looking thing?
  3. More food for thought to ponder. Thanks a bunch, fellas. Perhaps by next yer, I'll feel confident enough to tackle some more details, but for now, "Plain Jane", is the order of the day.
  4. That's something that I'm terrified of, and manage to still do it all the time.
  5. Agreed. I've been hesitant to by any of the Foosemobiles, unless I know for an absolute fact that stock parts are also in the kit.
  6. Looking real nice. I've yet to use any P.E., but look forward to trying some.
  7. I had avoided polishing the hood so far, as I'd assumed I was going to paint it black, but now that I've decided to stay with the blue, it got some attention today. Still some orange peel here and there, but I'll keep working it.
  8. Thanks for the great inputs, fellas. I had intended to drill a tiny hole for the bulb, and fill it with color, just wasn't sure if they were amber or not. I have both Tamiya and Gunze clear yellow, so I'll use one of those.
  9. So, it appears that the lights inboard of the headlights are both amber? Revell provides clear, flat lenses (part numbers 129 & 183), but no appearance of bulbs, nor any indication of color, so I'd like to fake these in somehow. Thanks,
  10. Thanks, Wayne, that's interesting stuff indeed.
  11. With my coffeine induced shakiness? That would be even worse than BMF. That's a very interesting thought, Rich. I'll have to seriously consider that. I'm already intending to (eventually), do some Challenger cross-kitting to get a '70 R./T convertible. Thanks a bunch. I like the looks so far too, and with any luck at all, and the help of those here, perhaps I'll end up with something nice.
  12. That's an interesting point. It never occurred to me that someone might enter a detailed model into a class that's basically for exterior looks (interiors on a convertible, for example, being an exception). Apparently I still have a lot to learn, but I appreciate all of this valuable input.
  13. My guess would be, not very low, but that's just a guess. Competition is definitely not for everyone, and I understand that, but I love it, as it challenges me to become better (very desirable), and can be very informative as well. I don't know that I could ever be truly happy, building just for me.
  14. I can certainly relate. I too have had models (aircraft, mostly), that were very straightforward, with little or no AM, that won out over models that were pimped with every bit of AM known to exist. And for what it's worth, your mostly OOB kits and mine, are two completely different animals, Steve. I've seen your work, and my lame efforts, aren't even close.
  15. Nice photos, guys, and yes, that pink Cadillac, is most certainly gorgeous.
  16. Wow, looking so excellent. My hat is definitely off to you, sir.
  17. I'm seriously considering not using BMF on this baby. The trim around the windows, in particular, are so faint that following the lines might be near impossible for me, and I don't want to wreck an otherwise OK finish. Thoughts?
  18. This is really looking sweet. It seems doubtful that I'll ever have the patience to try something like this, but I do like to see others do it.
  19. Thanks for the input, Scale-Master. Eventually I'll get to my roadsters and Phaetons, and at that point will have to "up my game" somewhat, but as a relative newbie, car modeling wise, I really feel the need to at least get a few under my belt, before I'll have the confidence to push further. I'm even considering not going the BMF route on this one (70 Hemi 'Cuda), as that's one area I've seen that can really make or break the finish. I just attended a show last weekend, and several cars that otherwise looked real good to me, had chrome that did not look so good, and that undoubtedly hurt them in that competition.
  20. I basically agree, James. Since it already seems to take me forever to finish a basic (mostly OOB) car model, and I'm not willing at this point, to go all nuts on the chassis' or engines, I like the idea of just getting a few done, and go from there, not having to go head to head with the amazingly detailed stuff that routinely shows up, as I'd have no chance at all against them, so it's a good way for me to get my feet wet.
  21. Excellent, thanks very much, Dan. It's amazing to me how much I don't know about older cars.
  22. Cool, thanks, guys. I'll look up both 57 and 58 Cadillac, and see what I come up with.
  23. Thanks, Peter, that's certainly food for thought.
  24. I can certainly relate to the guilt aspect, having been there numerous times myself.
