  1. I finally pained the chassis black, and while I had the airbrush already loaded up, I also went ahead and painted the engine bay. I realize it should probably be blue, but since it will never be seen anyway, I think it's still lots better than bare plastic.
  2. This is as far as I ever got with my display base, but I still intend to eventually finish it.
  3. Yep, they're gigantic, the larges locomotives ever produced, if memory serves correctly. I always take more and more photos each time, to use as reference for the Revell kit, if for no other reason. I think it's possible that we may be allowed "special access", as the brother of my roommate, works at the museum, though we've yet to try and pin him down on that.
  4. That would certainly explain it, wouldn't it? After a wash, painting the red line and chrome trim ring, plus installing the lights, it still should look pretty cool though, despite that particular inaccuracy.
  5. I'm fortunate to live pretty near to the St Louis transportation museum, and every time I go, I make sure to crawl all over, as much as I can, 4006, one of the 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy" steam locomotives;... what a monster that is. It's just too cool. I actually began to build a static display scene using the Revell 4-8-8-4 kit, but never quite finished it.
  6. I'll be heading to the local HL this Saturday, so I'll be sure to check it out.
  7. Nice train stuff, Bill. I've always longed to do an HO layout of my own, but alas, no space. A few years back, I managed to grab quite a few railroad related books, from a giant sale at Motorbooks International, and I love them to death. I've been fascinated by trains, since I was a little kid.
  8. Carpet area gets some Tamiya Nato black spritzed on. When the seats, door panels and dash, are given a coat of satin black, it should make for a nice contrast, I think.
  9. Always nice to see you at work, Steve.
  10. For whatever bizarre reason, Revell saw fit to add the blank area for the Plymouth decal, to both the driver and passenger side.
  11. I have no idea why I put this off so long, but today I sprayed the shaker and front grille, using Model Master steel (non-buffing), and I'm very happy with the resultant appearance. (Hood still obviously needs more polishing, but I hope to tackle that tomorrow, after the stiffeners I'll be adding, have had a chance to dry thoroughly.)
  12. Some serious 'Cuda action here; I love it.
  13. Wow, just excellent stuff happening here.
  14. Very cool progress. I have the Revell '71, but will undoubtedly build it mostly OOB.
  15. Looking really excellent so far, and I love the extra seat.
  16. A gift from a good forum pal (different forum), arrived today, and I'm just thrilled silly with it.
  17. Real nice haul, Lee. I have a pristine copy of the Encore boxing of the Monogram F-102 that I intend to trick out, one of these days, but no F-106, at least not at this time.
  18. I must have done something seriously wrong then, as they don't fit my kit worth a darn.
  19. OK, thanks a bunch for the great answers, fellas. I checked my Revell '71 kit, and indeed the louver is there but doesn't seem to fit all that well on the '70, so I probably will not use it. It probably sounds lame, but I will not be foiling the window trim on my 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, and I was hoping to cover up the back window, so that it won't be quite so noticeable that it has no chrome trim.
  20. Do any of the 1:24 or 1:25 'Cuda kits, have the louvers for the back window included? Also, would the louvers (if I can find any in a 'Cuda model), also fit the Challenger? Thanks a bunch,
  21. I'll do that then. Thanks, JC.
  22. Do any of the 'Cuda kits, come with the louvers on the back window included?
  23. Actually, there are several areas that have now seen the paint sanded/polished through to the primer, but when I'm 100% finished polishing (another couple of days), I'll just touch-up those areas with the airbrush, and re-polish. I did this on my Challenger body, and it worked out fine. Also, the interior on this thing is going to be quite boring, as it appears that almost everything is black, with precious little color elsewhere, but perhaps that's a good thing, at least in this case.
  24. Thanks, Jonathan that's what I was afraid of. Are aftermarket tires that are appropriate, even available anywhere, Dan? I may have a deal in the works for the original truck, working on a viable swap option now.
  25. That may be what I'm thinking of, regarding the Yukon, Rob, so thanks for the clarification. It seems apparent that I'll never own either either a Silverado or Yukon, so models may be the only real hope I have of ever having one.
