  1. I certainly understand that, as I do it too. I just ordered some tools yesterday that I really don't need, not at the moment anyway, but I ordered them regardless.
  2. Now I'm big time jealous. I'd love to get a new Nikon, but just can't afford it now.
  3. Two more for the pile, both Pro Modeler kits from a few years ago. Helldiver box is a bit mushed, but contents are pristine. Lightning is still sealed.
  4. That's a good thought. I like that, I really do. I certainly understand that. I did much the same with the stuff of my mom and dad after they were gone, keeping key items that remind me of them and their life passions.
  5. Yep, I gave up trying to figure out maniacs, a long time ago.
  6. How sad to see all of these for sale, but much better than going into the trash, like some folks would do. Harry was certainly a force here, and I wish he was still with us.
  7. I have so far chosen curbside style, simply because I'm not yet ready to tackle engine compartments and wiring, without which, there's little point to bothering with the engine at all, at least the way I see it.
  8. Best of luck to you, Mark.
  9. I'm as guilty as anybody. I buy wherever it's cheapest, period. I had a good pal with a wonderful shop, but he wouldn't even consider trying to match online prices I was finding, so I simply purchased from somewhere else.
  10. I had a small one when I was a kid, and my dad had a very good 6" reflector, but I'd been without one for many a year, and now anxiously look forward to exploring the skies. At roughly 3:30 in the morning now, Orion is crystal clear in the eastern sky, at about 40° elevation. Preceding that, is Pleiades, by about 15-20° (that's just a guess), and I'm eager to explore both. I haven't even considered taking photos, and probably won't, at least for quite some time. Naturally the sky is somewhat cloudy tonight, so despite the moon being nearly full, I doubt that I'll be able to check out the various lens combinations tonight.
  11. While I do live in the suburbs, the sky above, is actually pretty free of light pollution, and I'm anticipating some wonderful viewing with this baby.
  12. I save a little, but pitch the rest.
  13. High praise here for Mike (mikemodeler), for an absolutely seamless transaction. Thanks a ton, Mike, you're a good man.
  14. A very good friend gave me this today, as an early Christmas gift, so that I might use it right now, without having to wait two more months. Meade 102mm (4") refractor, and now that I've finished assembling it, it really does seem quite sturdy, as most reviews had indicated. I'm quite the happy guy.
  15. Yep, terrible, sad stuff; utterly pointless. Trying to understand these things, is pointless, and probably not preventable either.
  16. In the slightly less than three years since I joined the site (Christmas day, 2014), I've not yet finished one single car model. When I do finally finish one, I have an AMT case "at the ready" for it.
  17. I had quite a few of those 1320 fuel dragsters (at least that's what I assume they are), but had to sell them all off a few years back.
  18. I just received this today, from a fellow forum member here (thanks, Mike). Since it seems highly unlikely that I'll ever be able to afford a real one, this is about as close as I'll ever get, I guess.
  19. Today I finally got around to grabbing one of the Molotow pens (40% off at HL). I snatched the 2mm tip, as that seemed the best compromise for me, though I may grab another, depending on how it works out for me. .
  20. I'm not that gutsy. I can envision it all crumbling to pieces under my shaky hands.
  21. When you're doing something "off the beaten path", I think the more photos and descriptives, the better.
  22. I really like to see the older cars get some restoration work. I wish I had some of my older ones to redo, but sadly I do not.
  23. If I recall, the track came with the kit. Once I finish adding more ballast, weeds and some freight yard clutter, hopefully it'll make a decent presentation of the kit itself. I did add ballast all over the place, as I was trying to simulate a freight yard scene. Yep, it can be a truly maniacal hobby. I have a good friend that runs a train decal business, and the train folks buy the heck out of his products, from what he tells me.
  24. Thin acrylic wash applied to grill, but doesn't seem to want to photograph well at all.
