  1. Amazing build! So cool to see a wild lowrider, I have to admit one is on my build list, if i can ever get around to it.
  2. Thank you all for the intrest in this project! Progress has been a little slow this past week, mostly due to my own laziness. However, I managed to build the fuel tank last night, I think it is about 18-20 seperate little pieces of styrene in there. On a good note, I am a few body mounts away from calling this frame fabrication done. After that is complete I am going to shift my focus onto the engine and headers. Since the interior is my favorite part, im going to try and save that till last... if i can help myself. And boom... Engine shop opens tomorrow night
  3. Thank you Matthew! Im still thinking about the windsheild, I like your suggestion... a wrap around sounds really interesting. I want to try and keep some of the truck character, but that could really look great. Thank you for the kind words Christopher! Welp boys and girls... this was fun.. moving on to the fuel tank next.
  4. Welcome jason! Always nice to see other ohioians around here. As a recent newb, this place is awesome!
  5. Thank you mike, im trying.... The body work is about 95% complete, so I decided to focus the last few days on wraping up the loose ends on the chassis. Upon test fitting the body and frame after the grille opening was cut out, i realized i had a minor issue with the frame. I droped the front frame ears downward and rebuilt that area, then added the radiator and core support from the 59 caddy kit. Then scratch built some body mounts much better.. Skinned everything with .010 styrene, and made air diverters to seal up the sides Shocks and shock mounts added. Then steering box and linkage Tonights goal = motor mounts and master cylinder.
  6. Thank you Jim! That helps a bunch... I just ordered the MCG offset circle photoetched grille material, and I have 2 types of pins, round and oval head... So hopefully I can make something out of all that. I managed to get the rear end filled yesterday, just one more side to go and I can get some primer on this bad boy. I decided to use high build 2 part automotive primer on this since there isnt much body detail left, so once thats on and sanded i will have to add all the detail back in (trim, bone lines, etc.)
  7. The plan is to at least try a floating door knob/(pin head) grill with chrome trim. James, That is exactly the type I was thinking!
  8. Thanks James! I'm still working out the kinks in the styling but the last picture makes me feel like I am at least on the right track. I think with a tubular bumper the front will come together, currently i cant stand the headlights being the furthest thing out. I am finding it hard to dance the fine line between pretty and vintage custom..Let's face it, a lot of these vehicles really werent "pretty"... but... i still love all of them. Its just a type of over the top design thats pulling me out of my comfort zone, I am enjoying the challenge.
  9. These look even better on the big screen!!
  10. Thanks foxer.. I finally got around to that grille and some filler.. Still a long way to go, but I got the one side and the front rough sculpted.
  11. Uber cool!!! Man, this just fuels my want/need for a 3d printer. Amazing work!
  12. Absolutley stunning... so pretty... amazing job.
  13. Beautiful build! I can appreciate all the work that went into all that foil!
  14. Thank you guys! Made the Wendy's spoon headrests today, changed up my original idea on that. Went with independent headrests for each seat on floating tubing supports. Need to stop stalling on the grille design and fabrication.
  15. Thank you bob! I was able to get all the "sheet metal" work done today so I can start molding everything in... I also reworked my firewall with a pleated insert. It's starting to come together, can't wait to see it in color.
  16. Great looking car, awesome paint and perfect stance! Ive had my eyes on one of these kits, definately on my future builds list.
  17. Thank you guys for all the kind words! You are all helping me stay motivated on this thing. Here is a quick update, I started working on the tuck & roll interior with the seats. Each pleat is .060 styrene half round and I'm planing on using detail master ingition wire as piping.. First time doing any of this, but so far im happy with the result, I'm also happy that there are only two seats and the rest is somewhat flat. (excuse my nasty fingers) Next up is the exterior styling... I knocked out one side last night, not my cleanest work by any means... but it will get some filler and be fine. Just need to make the other side match and I can move on to the grille and filler/primer.
  18. My kits have finally arrived!!! Wont be delving into this 100% for a little while.. but the start is there. Honda accord wagon... with Honda Indy Mid-engine.. and some fun sleeper tricks. (Donor kits Audi R8 and an Enzo)
  19. Thank you! That may happen... I want to keep that funky sixties look, but i agree that would look better. I'm transitioning back onto the exterior tonight now that the interior is shaping up. Last night I added some detail to the center console and mounted the seats(AMT 49 Merc? I think) Then the steering column (Detail Master) And the steering wheel (59 caddy) Then I started on the "targa bar/headrests" (more spoons) after some conversation with Exesivefire/Andy, I am thinking less targa bar more "floating" with an artsy stantion coming from the interior tub. This wont interupt the exterior as much, and look more 60's I am thinking....
  20. Finally made some good progress tonight! Capped the bed/interior opening with angle... Scratch built the dash... Yup, Andy... With the help of Wendy's spoons And then the center console..again Wendy's spoons to the rescue!
  21. Thanks guys!! Im still struggling with the grille, but i have so many other things to develop I am trying not to get hung up on it just yet. I had a work trip that forced me halt progress for a week, thankfully i was able to make some 2D progress on the plane with some sketching and photoshop fun. Here is my idea to play with the proportions a bit, and make the exterior more radical.... now that i see it... i think i have to do it.. Lines indicated would just be body/bone lines, no trim. It just seems to tie it all together, and makes it a cohesive vehicle. and here is a rough intent sketch for the interior... this is going to have to be mostly scratchbuilt... and fun.
  22. I appreciate your feedback and thank you! I have noticed this myself, it seems really bad from some angles, and not so bad from others.. I have a couple ideas on how to visually minimize the frontend once I get back into the body work. But if they don't work I have a feeling I may be reworking the axle like you have suggested. The original idea of making the front wider was to have something that looked like a 1951 grille opening with wide body flares. I think I have that look nailed, It is just not meshing with the rear because once fenders were molded into the "bed" they lost their visual depth... Thank you again for your feedback and suggestions.
  23. I thirded...... but you alread know that...
