  1. Thank you guys!! That's what I love about these cars.. One of my favorite sixties GMs ... They don't need much to be a 60s custom or a lowrider... Just a little low, and some wheels. Individually laid .060 half rounds... That was fun.. Haha
  2. Thank you guys!! Had a productive weekend, got some clear sprayed.. And the piping all complete, just need to do the rest of the BMF work on the interior now..
  3. so cool buddy... needs more pleats tho.
  4. well my truck is..... so I figured this is good practice... I have learned a lot from this little adventure.
  5. The interior needed to be crazy... so I added lots of pleats... and a rotary phone on the console. Then painted everything white... and then added some pearl powder to my dullcoat.... then added detail wire purple piping. I only have one seat done so far.... 3 more to go... and the door panels... so much for that quick easy curbside.
  6. So I was getting a little burnt out on my showrod truck project... I decided to build a quick curbside kit. I wanted to keep the construction and materials similar to what i was planing for the truck... This way i could give myself some experiance and testing on parts that I havent labored on for many hours. I really wanted it to be so quick and easy I wasnt going to do a WIP thread... Well honestly, I am just too excited not to share! Started with a glue bomb 5.00 built kit, and another non built kit im planning on building in full detail at a later date. Shaved the handles, wipers, emblems and pancake-ed the hood. Wheels are the pegasus supremes. Then I cut the front bumper apart and made them seperate units using the custom parts from the kit... While I was at it I shaved the bumper gaurds. For the paint I went with Wet-n-Wild "Disurbia" nail polish Last night I started on the bare metal foil.... hoping to clear this weekend.
  7. Really cool build! love it!
  8. soooo cool... great imagination on this one.
  9. So clean! Ive always had a soft spot for these trucks.
  10. Thank you indeed!! great show, great models and great people... excited for the fall, hopefully i will have something finished to display!
  11. Thank you all for your comments and kind words!! I think i finally have an idea for the windsheild, and the parts to make it work.. just need to get up the courage to slice off the exsisting frame. I have a quick little update, I thrashed a bit to get everything back together for last sundays Detroit show's "primer" table. It was great to get the truck out of the basement, and some other eyes on it.. It was also nice to have it on display next to my buddy Andy's exceptional work. Here are some photos of the new parts, as well as it on display at the show. Made a fuel block and gauge: Some new rear springs with a little more realistic wire size: ScaleDreams Drive shaft unit... Modified to be a smaller diameter(the clearence will increase more with body mounts): Here is a shot of the assembled chassis: Start of the front bumper, made from styrene rod and a grille from the AMT 49 merc: Mounted to frame: and with the body on,still planing on making end pieces that wrap around: And finally photos at the show!!!
  12. That is one sweet looking 5-window!! love the style!
  13. so cool!!! great build!
  14. Thank you, for the kind words guys! Dave, I have some crazy idea using a 60's boat style windshield.. just need to see if it works with the truck. Here is a quick update from the past week, I have been busy but not as productive as I would like. The headers were dream killers for awhile, I think I made about 8 total out of different materials before I finally settled on ones that worked and looked decent. Drilled out the carbs and mocked up some .014 fishing line to simulate the clear red fuelline. (they are still backwards here, but i have remedied that... Thanks again Mike.. that would have driven me crazy down the road) Now onto the headers... enjoy my nightmares... haha The outlets look off a bit here, but ive corrected that... the plan is to make small dump pipes that exit out the fenders.
  15. So clean.... I third everything above..
  16. That would be a huge help... Thank you.. Luckily I haven't made or mounted the fuel block yet.. So it's just as easy as spinning them around.. Thank you again!
  17. Thank you! Yeah thats the plan... Ive stockpiled a lot of this
  18. Thanks Rich! Dropped it down some last night, might need to go a smigen more.. but even what I did helped. I had a few hours last night exploring windshield shapes on my sketchpad... havent settled on anything yet... The drawing below looks neat, but makes it too modern looking. Still working it out, luckally there are lots of other things to do..
  19. Thanks mike! Im trying to think of something unique to dress this area up a bit... and make it work better with the overall design.
  20. yeah.. im going to fix that. I wanted the drama of it being slightly angled, but once the carbs and blower were up there.. it was way too much. My plan is to have the engine pretty level with the ground when the trucks stance is correct. Just need to modify the motor mounts and oilpan a bit.
  21. Thank you Bill! Im a big fan of Johns work, huge complement.. Thank you. Thats actually the blower from the AMT/Blueprinter Parts Pack... I think the one from the hemi. That pulley is the tensioner, i just cut it off the molded belt. I ordered up some aluminum pulleys for the blower and accessory drives yesterday, i am hoping to be able to keep that tensioner pully. We shall see when they arrive.
  22. Got into the intake manifold and carb mounting tonight.. Pretty happy with the result.
  23. This is going to be super pretty! Can't wait to see it finished Blair!
  24. I havent built a replica yet.... I keep waiting for the 1:1 car to be done... but it seems to be ever-changing.
