Steve, congratulations! Great built, in Your usual high quality standards! The two tone color combination suits the car beautifully. Ludwig

Thank You very much for Your positive feedback! John: I glued the wires which hold the hood pins to the hood, not to the grille, so I can remove the hood. Ludwig

Thanks Michael for Your kind words! It was very much fun to build this kit. I like the golden paint on this car very much. Best regards Ludwig

Steve, paint and foiling are excellent!!! Which Kind of BMF did You use (I usually have "new improved chrome" which is more felxible on litte Details but this seems to be a more shiny foil)? Ludwig -
Thank You, guys! I used Tamiya TS-29 semigloss black for the interior. Meanchwile I put the tub into the body and glued both onto the chassis with a photo taken of the engine before the big aircleaner will cover everything:

UPDATE: Interior completed

Amazing! With all these styling elements mixed up it ooks like a "Ford Impala 300"

Yes, several layers of paint. Thanks, Michael!

Sidney: For the dashboard I used "Brown" and "Tan" along with a little bit of thinned black with an almost dry brush. Tommy: I was lucky that the wheels were already chrome plated, so I hat to apply "Steel" - color in the middle section and a darker version of "Steel" on the inner circle of the wheels, but not to much, so that the nuts are still visible.

UPDATE: MAY 17 2015 Just a test fit chassis to body: Dashboard with a "fake version" of "fakewood"

UPDATE: MAY-15-2015 Meanwhile I have done most of the BMF-work on the car and have added a couple of decals:

Thank You, guys! Yes, I am trying to get close to that car shown in the photo!

UPDATE: I started to detail the body of the 71 GTX. For example I "installed" a spring which holds down the hood: At the underside of the hood it was necessary to drill out a little hole to accomodate the spring.

I started to build this some days ago. It is a 1971 Plymouth GTX by Monogram. I painted the body in gold, using Tamiyas "gold" and "light sand metallic", trying to get close to the original exterior color "Golden Leaf Metallic". A pic of a original car:

Russell, great work to show such a beautifully detailed Yblock in the 1:25 scale! Dennis is right with his remark on the generator. Last year the generator - a predecessor of the alternator - which refers to the technical standards of the 1950s, when Yblocks were developed - in my 62 Ford Galaxie, which features a 292 ci Yblock, needed a rebuild kit. Steve, i just read that You have started a 62 Galaxie convertible. Please continue, since I have a 62 Galaxie (hardtop) in my Garage, I would like to see Your build one day here in the forum! Ludwig

Great job, Steve! Your model Looks absolutely realistic. A masterpiece! Ludwig

Indeed some good looking Montes in this thread. Congratulations to You Benjamin to Your build. Perhaps it is the fact that your location - Nice - is not far away from Monte Carlo that influenced Your work on the MC-kit so positively Best regards neighbor Ludwig

Once again, thank You all! @ Gene: I gave only a light washing to the finned section of the air cleaner, the other parts are chromed, except for the air cleaner insert which I painted white. Ludwig

Thank You guys! Monty: Tamiya "pure red" is TS-86 Best regards Ludwig

This 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster is an AMT kit from 2001 with steerable front wheels, white wall inserts etc.To underline the elegant line of the TBird, I put the "tonneau cover" in place and felt free not to use the vent vindows, which doesn't match the historic car. But I think it looks much better this way, like the cars some years later in the 60s which had only one big door glass without vent vindows. Color is "Pure Red" (Tamiya) - the best thing that can happen to a 62 Sport Rodster, according to my opinion. In the engine compartement there was not enough space left over for the Ford-typical surge tank when I had installed the 3 x 2 carbs along with the big oval air cleaner.

Thank You! First I masked the windshield and sprayed two thin layers "Tamiya Smoke" on the non masked part. After 5 minutes I removed the masking tape and put on three or four very thin layers of "Tamya Clear Blue" trying only to hit the "smoke"-colored stripe but without masking the rest of the "glass". Thin mist from the spray can on the lower part of the screen was removed with Meguiars (car) wax on a piece of cloth which I usually use for polishing and which does not harm the windshield. Ludwig

I have been working on a 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster (AMT) for a couple of weeks - with interruptions. Concerning the tinted windshield I have developed a new way to make it look more realistc. I hope You agree with me that the windshield looks good now with this narrow color-stripe which fades into the rest of the glass. Body paint is pure red by Tamiya which is so shiny that I did not have to polish it.

Those chromed smoothies definitely look good on a 60 Ford!
