  1. Once again, thank You all! @ Gene: I gave only a light washing to the finned section of the air cleaner, the other parts are chromed, except for the air cleaner insert which I painted white. Ludwig
  2. Thank You guys! Monty: Tamiya "pure red" is TS-86 Best regards Ludwig
  3. This 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster is an AMT kit from 2001 with steerable front wheels, white wall inserts etc.To underline the elegant line of the TBird, I put the "tonneau cover" in place and felt free not to use the vent vindows, which doesn't match the historic car. But I think it looks much better this way, like the cars some years later in the 60s which had only one big door glass without vent vindows. Color is "Pure Red" (Tamiya) - the best thing that can happen to a 62 Sport Rodster, according to my opinion. In the engine compartement there was not enough space left over for the Ford-typical surge tank when I had installed the 3 x 2 carbs along with the big oval air cleaner.
  4. Thank You! First I masked the windshield and sprayed two thin layers "Tamiya Smoke" on the non masked part. After 5 minutes I removed the masking tape and put on three or four very thin layers of "Tamya Clear Blue" trying only to hit the "smoke"-colored stripe but without masking the rest of the "glass". Thin mist from the spray can on the lower part of the screen was removed with Meguiars (car) wax on a piece of cloth which I usually use for polishing and which does not harm the windshield. Ludwig
  5. I have been working on a 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster (AMT) for a couple of weeks - with interruptions. Concerning the tinted windshield I have developed a new way to make it look more realistc. I hope You agree with me that the windshield looks good now with this narrow color-stripe which fades into the rest of the glass. Body paint is pure red by Tamiya which is so shiny that I did not have to polish it.
  6. Those chromed smoothies definitely look good on a 60 Ford!
  7. After Yuri showed his sensational 65 Pontiac Bonneville a couple of days ago, I want to show You mine I built last year. I tried to tint the glass but I think I gave the windows one shot of "clear blue" too much ...
  8. Thank You guys! Good to see the positive reactions on my "Galaxie Lowrider" - project.
  9. Great 63 Galaxie! I love those big Fords of the 60s.
  10. Thank You, guys! As 62rebel wrote, You have the choice between several holes in the chassis to put the metal axles in - no problem in the engine department, since the model doesn't have a motor - so it is possible to lower or rise the car for the photographer. Ludwig
  11. Since the early 1960s Impalas are usually the base for lowriders, I thought about turning an early 1960s Fullsize Ford Galaxie into a "lowrider". I used a1961 AMT Ford Galaxie kit along with a set of Pegasus wheels. Paint is Tamiya peral white.
  12. @ Tom: The paint used for the interior is "light metallic blue" (Tamiya) which comes close to those shiny vinyl seat covers used in the 60s. @ Stray: The dashbord was painted in "light metallic blue" and semi-gloss black, using the decals for the speedometer included in the kit.
  13. Hello and thanks to all for Your comments on this Station Wagon. It seems to me that a lot of You would also appreciate to see more wagon- and four door-kits in the hobby shops. Ludwig
  14. (I could not resist to put a floor shift and additional gauges to make a really "sporty" wagon).
  15. Gorgeous model and a good example to show how a stock Impala kit can be transformed into an outstanding model!
  16. Steve, that's a gorgeous model You created! I love the old Fullsize Fords and this one of 1958 is a very rare one in the 1:25 "world". Best regards (from a 1:1 owner of a 62 Ford Galaxie) Ludwig
  17. Congratulations! This Nova has the typical muscle-car looks and You chose a color, that was very popular with late 60s Chevys. Superb!
  18. Thank You for Your comments. I think, the color combination suits the car very well. Aluminum-silver metallic / white was available from 1960 on, except for the 1963 models. But in the 1:25 scale, everything is possible.
  19. Hello guys! Thank You very much for Your comments on this 57 Ranchero. Bob: I tinted the glass with Tamiya Clear Blue. Ludwig
  20. Hi John, very nice 57 Ford. I built the 57 Ranchero last summer - seems to be the "cousin" of Your Fairlane, since I did it in the same color combo as Yours. I love old fullsize Fords! Ludwig
  21. An older kit from Revell (released around 1995) I built last summer. The kit consisted of two body-halfs which had to be glued together, so there was a little gap on the top of the front fenders I covered with flame decals. The kit had already a top chop. I used the wheel/tire combo which was included but gave a little "Thunderbird-Upgrade" to the 312 cui YBlock (air-cleaner and valve covers).
  22. Thank You very much for all these postive comments on my model! I also appreciate very much that You like the color combo I have chosen for this icon of the sixties. Ludwig
