Ugliest Corvette revisited
Sledsel replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
YAY!!! I am the winner!!! Where is my chicken dinner? LOL!!! -
I used some aftermarket decals on a build. Had the body, paint and decals done and it was put away for almost a year. Well, it was dusty so I gave it a quick rinse with cold water and the decals moved. I was able to get them back in place and put the body in a case to keep it clean. Will setting solution keep them in place or should I clear the body, or both? Thanks

My next question is, who is gonna build one of these "masterpieces" in scale? ? -

The exhaust is the bumper.... or is it the bumper is the exhaust? Automotive multi-tasking -

I think this one will put this post to rest. So bad I cannot find a photo of it before it was neglected!! This is a 1964 Corvette originally done by George Barris. -

Ya know, just for giggles, here is the description of the 'Vette...... Enjoy I was inspired back in the day by an artist known as Les Dunham who had fabricated his own series of Corvette to stand out. With the inspiration of his style, I created my own and this is the result. The Caballista has a stock chassis, motor, interior, and much more. Almost everything on this car has been left stock except for the body which I fabricated out of fiberglass. It has 33,000 miles on it, most of which were highway/expressway driven. Everything works splendidly and as it should. Due to its age, I had a certified Chevrolet mechanic replace a handful of parts with OEM/Genuine parts such as the following: (upgraded) 9 leaf spring, all universal joints, brand new brake calipers with pads and rotors, wheel bearings, alternator, battery, and other small odds and ends. The mechanic also took the liberty of replacing the clutch pack and bearings inside of the rear differential (this year of Corvette had a lot of power which ate through those plates with age.) All four tires are new Goodyear's with the original aluminum wheels. -

You can own this beauty right now for the paltry sum of $20,000....... Go get it boys!!! Please, no pushing or shoving. -
I was working on the AMT Chevy Rescue van last year. and well, I did something I should not have, I filled the sunroof score with Testors glue and allowed it to dry a few weeks. Some heavy sanding, filler, spot fill primer, I wet sanded and painted. I sanded and buffed the finish and she looked great so I did my decals. Duplicolor primer and touch up paint was used. Well, we started some home renovations and my kits were put away. Pulled out the van this evening and "BAM" the sunroof outline ghosted badly. Now, I can mask and repaint the roof, but I must figure out how to keep the ghosting from coming back. Initial thought was sand it all down and use polyester 2 part filler on it. (Previously I used spot putty) Then I thought maybe just sand it down as flat as possible and then polyester. Unfortunately I must be super careful because my decals are obsolete. Any suggestions?

Do not forget about the Starlift option they had trying to make the car sleeker for NASCAR.. Remember, they raced convertibles too and this was to be an "ad on" to the convertible stock car. Too bad for a street car the rear windows wouldn't match the roof. -
My other truck and used as such.... 1,960 lbs of steel pipe cut offs are in the bed. Scrap yard was shocked when I weighed in.

One you do not see often.... Dump used oil in the rockers, they are known to rot there (along with every other car from the mid eighties til now) I had an MAF issue on my Cougar. Although after the air cleaner, that little wire gets dirty and makes the car act stupid. Periodic cleaning took care of it. -

Thoughts for this one are simple. Roof to be painted to match the rest of the car, dual exhaust, done. I have other cars I am gonna tinker with more. -

More than 25 years old is older enough. Always liked that color on a Fox. Nice
