Yes, the kit comes with a V8, and the seat inlays are decals...the first I've printed in quite a long time. I posted in the tips & tricks section of the forum about the ,"no spray" decal paper I used...great stuff.
-
Really? It seems way too good a kit to be a Lindberg.

Ah yes...another great car. Used to see tons of them on the road. At the time I had my Dodge, a good friend had Valients. He'd buy several used ones, drive on and keep the others for parts. ?

I had to get this one because the first car I owned was a 1964 Dodge Coronet with the slant 6 engine. I learned pretty much everything I know about working on cars on that one, also how to drive a manual transmission. What a great car. Had to finally get rid of it when it became difficult to get parts for it. ☹️ This is a nice kit. No real issues to speak of. I'm happy with how it came out. I think this is the best interior I've done so far. Enjoy, and thanks for looking. ?

Krazy Glue UV Cured
Sidney Schwartz replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
This stuff didn't go very far. I'd estimate it's good for one model, maybe a bit more. That makes it pretty expensive. Seems to be par for the course for uv cured glues, though. -
Thanks for all the comments and useful suggestions! I like this kit and will most likely get another one at some point, so this all helps a lot.

How To Use BMF For Masking?
Sidney Schwartz replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
BMF can be a nuisance to remove, but I've never just not been able to do it. I got a bunch of these things.... Amazon.com : 100PCS Orange Sticks for Nails 4.5 Inch - Wooden Cuticle Pusher & Remover Set - Non-Toxic, Skin-Safe - Wood Tools for Manicure & Pedicure - Disposable Set Useful for Home & Salon - Won't Break Easily : Beauty & Personal Care ...and find them just perfect for pushing the foil off of whatever it's on, and without scratching the finish (assuming you don't apply too much force). As for the residue the BMF leaves behind, I spray some WD-40 on a cotton swab...softens up the residue instantly and just wipe it off with a clean cloth. -
I was looking online for Bondic and decided to try this stuff instead. In reading user reviews of Bondic I saw a lot of comments to the effect that it's not very good as an adhesive. The Krazy version is definitely an adhesive. I tried it out and it works and is quite strong. I was expecting that it might not work well with close fitting parts, because of the light having difficulty reaching the glue, but I it worked fine in those situations. I did not run across any drawbacks to using it. The bottle itself is somewhat odd and seems over-complicated, but it works. I did what I do with other glues...squeezed a drop onto some paper and then used a toothpick to apply it. The only difference is using the little uv light to cure the stuff, which takes only a few seconds. I have no idea how long the 4g will last...the bottle is not transparent the top doesn't seem to unscrew, so there's no way to tell when it's running low. It's relatively inexpensive...I paid $11 on Amazon. The uv light uses a button battery which can probably be replaced if you have a screwdriver small enough to open the case. IMO definitely worth a try.

The suspension on this one is pretty simple. The lower control arms, spindles and the center piece connecting them are all one piece. There's no adjustment possible without modfying the piece. That piece fits onto the frame, and it's fit as snuggly as possible...there's no extra room. The only thing I can think of is that the tub is not fitting as closely as it should and keeping the frame from fitting properly. I tried several times to get the tub to fit as tight as possible, but I'm guessing it's still not right. It's frustrating because it's so hard to see what's going on when it's all assembled, and what needs to be adjusted. I suspect the dashboard.

Yes, these are the stock tires. The kit also comes with low profiles and a bunch of other custom options.

Saw some very nice example of this one posted here and decided to give it a go. Did a test build using tacky glue and found a couple of minor issues...overall it's a better than average kit, IMO. I really like the way the paint job came out...it's pretty much how I envisioned it. The only thing I'm not happy with is that the front end looks too high. This seems to happen with a lot of the kits I build. On this one I took it apart and rebuilt the tub to make sure everything was snug, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Any suggestions on how to avoid this? Thanks for looking.

I usually sand and polish the clear coat and lay the BMF on top of that.

Morgan Automotive Detail?

Tried that, since I prefer these distributors to others I've bought. Teds has zero of this product in stock, just like everyone else I tried who lists them on their web site. Ditto my local hobby shop. -

"No spray" decal paper

Yes, it's this one... C11CG33201 | Epson Expression Home XP-4100 Small-in-One Printer | Inkjet | Printers | For Home | Epson US It's a great little printer. The only drawback is that it will not accept the third part replacement cartridges that I had used in the past with other printers. We don't do a lot of printing so I'm willing to shell out the extra quatloos for Epson's cartridges. -

You're right. Your email got put in my spam folder. I've gotten emails from you in the past and they went to the inbox, so it didn't occur to me to look elsewhere. My apologies for that. In any case your shipping time is way too long for me, so I'll look elsewhere. I appreciate the refund and wish you well. -

"No spray" decal paper

The decals I made with it act like any other decals. They slide off the paper backing when wet, and look and feel and act like decals. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, not paper. -

It's been three weeks. I think that's more than reasonable. I'd be willing to wait if he'd answer my emails, but he hasn't. No one is so busy that they can't take a minute or two to answer an email. -

Looks like their "no spray" version is only available in white, not clear. Here's the company's web site... Koala Photo Paper, Heat Transfer Paper & Inkjet Film (koalagp.com) -
"No spray" decal paper
Sidney Schwartz replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
It was pretty easy to do. Googled plaid patterns and found one withthe colors I wanted. Used Gimp to tile that image to cover get a larger area, pasted that into MS Word and used that to scale it down and print it. Put some masking tape on the seats and cut out patterns for the areas I wanted to cover, then stuck the patterns on the back of the printed decal paper and cut out the decals. Worked pretty well, but I'm going to redo it and pay more attention to matching up the pattern on the seat backs and bottoms. -

My printer is an Epson XP-4100. I did spray some flat clear over those decals and had no problem. No smearing or running...looked great! -
Came across this decal paper on Amazon and decided to give it a go. Amazon.com: KOALA Matte Waterslide Decal Paper for INKJET & LASER Printers, No Need Spray Coating, White 8.5x11 Inch Water Slide Paper for DIY Tumbler, Mug, Nail Crafts, 5 Sheets : Office Products Works like a charm. Printed off a plaid pattern for some seats. Image is nice and sharp. The ink seemed already dry immediately after printing, but I gave it about 10 minutes anyway. Into the water, worked perfectly.
