  1. I was at the end of a very long line in the drive through at the local Dunkin Donuts and let this woman go ahead of me. I didn't think it was any big deal since I think that I was the last car in line. When I got up to the window to pay, the guy told me that the woman in front of me had paid for mine. An unexpected way to start the day!!
  2. I was on a trip from Baltimore to Philly yesterday and passed a white Pantera with temporary tags on it. Couldn't get a picture since I was trying to drive. Guessing someone just got a new toy. Well, a 40 year old new toy.
  3. I remember many years ago I bought a model of some type of muscle car that came with a body that was so twisted that I didn't even try to fix it. If I had the same car now, I would just build it up and claim that I had put in hydraulics or an air bag system. Other than that, if you look at my signature, it sums up my childhood efforts at building model planes.
  4. A couple packages came in the mail for me today. Both of them I bought because of articles that I saw in back issues of Model Cars Magazine. The truck was an obvious purchase, but I still have no idea what I am going to do with the lot of Hubley 1932 Chevy Phaetons. There are actually 4 of them, not sure if they are complete or not.
  5. I am beginning to work more seriously on my entry and will begin the roll cage system over the weekend. I am guessing that in order to keep it from looking too wild, I will have to go with an internal cage, even though it would be cool if I could get away with something like this. I would even leave off the windshield grate to make it more normal looking. Another problem is the lack of 1/20 scale racing seats available. Somehow I don't think that the captain's chair included with the kit will cut it. I really don't want to have to get a whole model to get a racing seat. If anyone has a spare or two they don't need, let me know.
  6. They still sell these Punch-Me type things. I could swear that I saw one at a Big Lots last week. I don't remember what the character was.
  7. One of the magazines that I read occasionally actually has a little blurb in it each issue mentioning what to do if people contact you about your subscription.
  8. I thought that I had read somewhere a while back where you could donate you own blood ahead of time and they could preserve it until you had your operation. I could always be wrong. Edit: Well, I found online that you can donate blood for yourself but it has to be done right before your operation so I guess it is limited to one pint. Not sure how much you need for a hip replacement.
  9. Speaking of Gilbert Chemistry sets, I haven't seen anyone mention this one. Did anyone here have one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_U-238_Atomic_Energy_Laboratory
  10. She's the one. If I get a chance, I am going to stop by the Nostalgia Convention that weekend. They always have good guests lined up. It looks like the theme this year is 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  11. Nope. But a big hint is that she appeared with Elvis in one of his movies.
  12. I haven't see this woman listed: As a cheat or for those in the mid Atlantic area who may be interested, she will be appearing at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention, Sept 15-17.
  13. I really wanted to go to the MidAtlantic NNL, but I had to leave that morning on a business trip. I also enjoy watching Wheeler Dealers. They work on some truly unique cars.
  14. I was debating whether or not to pick one of those up. One of the ones that I went to also had the model pistols. Those could be cool, too.

  16. I loved Spin Welders. They were great and IIRC they even had a dragster that you could build. Along the auto front I remember having the TTP or Turbo Tower of Power which was an air pump that blew air over a turbine in the car to get it going. I also had some sort of car set, it was bigger than 1:43, but I don't thing as big as 1:24 that had a couple cars with replaceable panels and a body shop. Some of the panels were "damaged" and you could take them to the body shop to get them "fixed".
  17. When I saw the title, I thought that this was going to be a thread about Leepu and Pitbull. As far as the Chevelle goes, maybe he was trying to salvage what was left after a rollover.
  18. I read about him on Wiki and he definitely sounds like a guy who would not be accepted well in today's society. However, I am guessing that my great grandfather was named after him because he was the governor when my great grandfather was born.
  19. Totally unrelated, but my great grandfather, who was born and died in South Carolina was named Wade Hampton Jackson. Had to look up who Wade Hampton was to find out why he was named after him. Kind of neat, especially since they lived about an hour from Greenville.
  20. Sometimes you just luck out. The last time I had to have a plumber out, they weren't even in the front door before they were throwing down drop cloths between my front door and the sink in the kitchen where the problem was. I don't think their shoes ever touched the floor anywhere in my house. Quite a change from the guy the time before that who wiped his feet on my hall carpet because I didn't have a door mat.
  21. I was reading an online news article earlier today that mentioned that in Augsburg Germany they are putting traffic signals in the sidewalks so that people who are busy on their phones can see them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/04/25/this-city-embedded-traffic-lights-in-the-sidewalks-so-that-smartphone-users-dont-have-to-look-up/
  22. No! No! If it is a '60s Chevy wagon, it has to be olive green with wood grain side panels. Think of a 4x4 National Lampoons Vacation Family Truckster.
  23. I probably ought to stop reading this thread. Otherwise, I might start thinking that I need to buy more kits so that I can have extra parts to organize.
  24. My father had a number of Matchbox cars back in the late '60s early '70s that he was keeping back in his closet. At least he was until my brother and I found them and opened them all up to play with.
