  1. I like old iron! Nice build!!
  2. I'm just checking in for August. I have not touched the Mack since June. It has been a very busy summer. I hope to catch up soon and get back to finishing this thing. I'm still in the contest for now.
  3. You're right about the shorty bumper. Also, with the bumper pushed against the tire (in the case of a collision with a deer or other animal) the steering was greatly hindered. I think that this might be why GMC used plastic bumper extensions to make a full bumper on some of their trucks. Some of the very small shorty bumpers were used to save on weight also.
  4. Very nice looking Autocar!! Great work as usual!!
  5. Very nice build!! I like the short bumper!!

  7. Very sharp looking KW!! I like the grill screen!! Great work!! The paint job is incredible!!
  8. Great looking Autocar!! I'm glad it's lasted and you were able to keep it. Great work!! My first ride was in a 7400 White. I was probably 8 or 9, so they are kind of special to me too.
  9. I have used metal iron on studs from Michaels or Hobby Lobby. This truck is looking great!!
  10. Congratulations on your beautiful daughter! When my oldest son was born 11 1/2 years ago, I gave up model building for a while (too many irons in the fire) and didn't start back until a couple of years ago. Glad to be back to building though. You've got a great start on a great project!
  11. Cool project! Great start!!!
  12. Cool project! Great work so far! Man you work fast!
  13. Thanks Ben! I had not opened mine and wasn't going to yet, but it turned out to be okay.
  14. The Hobby Lobby here in Salisbury has a model clearance display. The models are exactly 40% off. The only trucks were the 1/25th snap trucks. I picked up one of each. They won't let you use a 40% off coupon on sale items.
  15. That is one great looking wrecker!! Great work on the paint!!
  16. Wow!! That is one sharp looking truck!! You did one excellent job on both the tractor and trailer!! I really like the paint scheme! I looks like the real thing!
  17. Great project!! Depending on what exactly you're wanting to build, you have lots of options. On Chevrolets, the C series is two wheel drive and the K is four wheel drive. The 10 is 1/2 ton, 20 is 3/4 and 30 is 1 ton. I built this kit about 23 years ago, and I may be wrong, but I thought that it came with a 14 bolt rear axle and 10 bolt front axle which would be a common 3/4 ton set up. We used to build a lot of 1:1 trucks back in the day. A short bed would have came from the factory as a 1/2 ton, but we often put 3/4 and 1 ton axles under half ton trucks. The badging and even cabs were often changed as well. So, unless you're trying to build a factory original, you have lots of options. Interestingly enough, I had a friend who had a short bed step side with 3/4 axles under it that looks almost identical to the way your model looks now. Looking forward to seeing more of this one!
  18. Great looking fleet! The Brockway came out great! I'm kind of partial to Bighorns too.
  19. That is one great looking Louisville! Great work!!
