I don't know what types of set ups that you all use when taking build pictures, but will pass this on anyhow. I found a website, www.strobist.blogshot.com They have instructions and pictures for building an efficient light box for about $10.00. Hope it's helpfull to some.

I've had good luck with Hobbylink.com

Thanks all for the inputs. I didn't mean to stir anything up. Was just wondering. I am an average builder, at best. I wouldn't even think of posting anything here, but really enjoy seeing all the great builds, and trying new things that I learn here. To me, modeling is a hobby. I love working with my hands and seeing an end result, even if it is not great. That being said, I can understand collecting. I have friends who collect trading cards, coins, stamps, etc... and get great pleasure from it.

Thanks Gregg. Downloaded the tutorial for future use.

I have seen here, several topics on die cast models, and have a question? Why would one buy a pre built die cast model when the idea is to build something your self? My modeling skills suck. I could have much better displays if I just bought completed cars. What am I missing here? There must be a reason that folks go for the die cast things. Please enlighten me.

Most major hardware stores, including ACE, should have it. Look in the home cleaning section for floor polishes. -
Need Help Withe Future Floor Polish

Just an FYI. I tried future as a base for flocking my latest car carpet, as versus paint, and it worked great. -
Hey all, I just got a canon power shot A460, and know nothing about taking or posting pictures. No, not any of my builds. They are junk compared to what I see here, and wouldn't bother to post them, but I did my first diorama, (used car lot), with a lot of help and ideas from the folks on these forums and would like to show them how it came out. The camera user guide is full of a bunch of stuff that I just can't understand, so I need a basic "photo 101" course. Questions: 1- What settings should I use? 2- Once I get some decent photos loaded onto my PC, how do I get them posted?

What Car Do You Wish To Be A Model That Isn't?
m408 replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
33 chevy master town sedan with trunk option. My old street rod. Now resides in Hawaii. Mazda blue paint, small block chevy, power sun roof, etc.... All the comforts of a new town car and a show winner. -
This may seem really stupid but....Where the heck are the plugs, distributer, coil, and wires? In all of these photos, I can't find them.

Thanks all for your help and advice. Just ordered a Canon power shot A460 plus a SD/1GB memory card from Amazon. Total price of $131.36 including shipping. Should do everything that I need. Thanks again.

Thanks Harry, Amazon has a few Cybershots on sale for $139.00. Might be older models, but for my needs, seems O.K. Has the features that you recommend.

Hey Gregg, No real budget. As I said, my building skills are minimal compared to the folks that post here. However, my friends are always after me to show them pics of what I'm working on. And, having built my first ever diorama, would like to post some pics for all of the folks that guided me through it. Would like to get away as inexpensively as possible.(saving my money for kits).
-
Thanks Steve, I agree about the folks here. I've just gotten back into building after an absence of over 30 years. The questions that I ask are always answered, help given, and tips ready available. I enjoy seeing the work that is displayed here, and the skill levels demonstrated, but I am still a long way from producing anything worth showing. Someday.
-
Ground rules: 1- My building skills are not worth posting here, but my friends want to see pictures of my cars. 2- I built my first diorama, (used car lot), with a lot of help and advice from folks here. Not great, but O.K. I would like to share the photos with the people that helped me so much, and get their thoughts. 3- Don't have a camera so I need to buy one, with limited funds. Any suggestions as to make, model, etc...would be appreciated. Also, tips on photography, posting, etc... Yep, getting into building again after a bunch of years and a complete newbie about photos.

There is a thread here from a builder having trouble with washes. Lots of good advice and some awesome pictures of finished products. Now, is there a site for step by step procedure for getting the type of effect that these builders achieved? I have seen some great primers on paint prep, painting, hinging hoods, opening doors etc... Any like articles on washes?
-
Thanks all. Will get to "googling".

Few of the kits that I build come with instrument decals. Is there an after market source for these? Don't need flames or scallops, just various gauges.
-
Found a source for Detail Master. Scale Models by Chris. Seven colors and pretty inexpensive. Going to try it along with the suggestions offered here. Thanks all.
-
On one of the threads here, I saw some examples of pre mixed washes by "detailer". Where can I find them?
-
Amazing kit. Comes with both engine options and exhaust tip extensions. First kit that I have seen that seems to cover all bases. Thanks all for the help.
-
It's the Revell kit. How was the 54 different from the 53?
-
I just purchased a 53 corvette kit. Comes with white molded parts and body. I don't want to just polish the plastic. Did the 53 come in any standard color other than white? If not, I would like to do a kind of pearl white body. Any suggestions as to primer, under coat, and paint?

Wish I had thought of that. Just spent a bunch on a dehydrator. Question..Wouldn't it need some kind of venting for out gassed solvents?
-
In looking at dehydrators, they all seem to have layers. Do they have to be modified to handle bodies and frames etc? If so how?
