  1. Shoot Mark, I don't know how to do that. I'm really a rookie at this stuf. I guess photobucket deletes things after a while. Will try to repost, or get a paid photobucket account. Anyhow, will do what I can.
  2. O.K. guys, your on. I'm retired so anytime, or any day, that works for you, works for me. D&J Hobby is 5 minutes from my place and only 5-10 minutes from a good pizza/pasta place. If you can get here, lunch will be on me, and of course the requisite brew or two. And don't give me any C%*& about it. A cheap price to pay for the knowledge that I will gain. Just wish that some other "newbies" would like to take part. Milt
  3. SACRILEGE A toyota, nisson, saab, yugo, or anything else in a Shelby GT-500? That's like putting a chainsaw engine in a Corvette. Just kidding, good luck on your build. Keep us posted on your progress.
  4. Welcome back. The photo takes me back to my drag racing history, mid to late 60's, when the altereds were the "bad boys" of drag racing. Almost no body, All engine. Short wheel bases put a lot of them in ditches.
  5. WOW, roof lines look nothing like the coupe. I guess I'm just used to the "box" look of the "T" and "A" series.
  6. Right now my 1:1 is a Pontiac Sunfire convertable. But this was my 1:1 10 years ago. 33 Chevy Master Town Sedan. Small block Chevy, 8" ford rear end, top with power sun roof from a 59 Caddy, power steering and brakes, Mustang II front end, cruise control, heat/ac, 150 watt 6 speaker stereo, tinted glass, and reclining bucket seats. Some friends at the NSRA meet in Oklahoma City back in the mid 90's.
  7. Hi Gregg, It helped, but, the quickest fix came from our USMC sarge Clayton Jones. Here it is. Once in photobucket and your account, just LEFT click, once, the photo that you want to transfer. It will automatically "copy". Then go to where you want it in the post and right click"paste". Even a cave man like me can do it. One more tip if you are going upgrade the posting tip. I got this from Harrypoi. Type in your message then hit "enter" before you post the pic. This puts the pic under the post, not right behind it.
  8. Sounds great guys. Hope to here from some other local folks. Would be great if we could get some "novices" like me as well as you experianced guys. We'll see.
  9. Thanks Harry, Will try it next time. I'm happy that I could just get the photos up. First digital camera, first time trying to upload to photobucket, etc...
  10. A couple of cars from my first diorama. "Used car lot".
  11. I started a thread about seminars (see how to seminars on this site), and got a great response from Raul Perez, one of the premium builders showing his work here. Anyhow, anyone local, Campbell or San Jose Ca. area interested in a monthly get together for pizza/pasta and beer to brain pick these experianced builders? I think that it would be great to be able to spend some 1 on 1 time with these guys. If interested, PM me, or reply here. If enough interest is shown, I'll try to set up the first session. Anything after that would be up to the rest of you. Nothing formal, just a bull**** ses sion to listen and learn.
  12. Hey Gregg, Tried to post some pics to see if my photobucket worked. Got an error saying that no dynamic messages were allowed. ???? What the heck does that mean? and how do I fix it?
  13. Hey Andy, Would love to be associated with a local club. However, the closest one, I think, is over an hour drive away. It's hard to believe that as many top notch builders that there are in this area, that they don't have a club. Tips and tricks are great for an on line source, but not at all like being able to ask, "how the heck did you do that"?, and get an answer that could be explained in detail.
  14. Lets see how much interest we can stir up. Hopefully there are a bunch of relatively "rookie" builders, like myself, around here that would like to spend some face time with more experianced guys like yourself. There is a great pizza/pasta place real close. I'll try to see if I can make an "arrangement" with them for a small group. If there is real interest, we could set something up a few weeks in advance.
  15. Hey Raul, Now that I have gotten this started, let's see if there is any real interest. I propose the following. A once a month get together at a local (Campbell area, cause at my age I try not to drive too far), pizza place. Weekend, afternoon or evening. I'll pop for the first $100.00 toward food and drink. No set format for subjects, just getting help from the pros. Speakers/demonstrators/tipsters eat/drink free. All others share in any overage. Might be a start to a fun and educational experiance. Anyone else interested?
  16. 32? I don't remember them being that boxie. Looks more like 29-30 to me. What am I missing?

Diablo sounds good to me Cal. I just have to many memories from my service time, 1951-1957, to want to see commie logos on anything. I'll leave it at that.
  18. Just a thought. I'm a novice builder trying to get better. I read threads on the forums to get tips and ideas. Wouldn't it be great if some local builders, San Jose area, could put on seminars for specific topics. Engine detailing, interiors, painting, etc... I know that I would pay to attend, and I'm betting that a lot more would. I know, your not in it for the money, but I'll bet that there are a bunch of us out here that would be willing to contribute the price of a kit to further our knowledge.
  19. Maybe next time I'll make a placard to hang around my neck. "I'm Milt and need all the help that I can get".
  20. Whatever you did on the trim, and/or how you did it, don't stop. Looks great. Talk about missing deals of a lifetime...in 1958 I was offered a 1953 Corvette, one of only 300 built, for $1000.00. Had to pass. Two kids and making $2.35 an hour.

I could tell you where to put the commie logos, but it might make sitting at the work bench a pain. Really, how about "Red Bull" as a name?
  22. Most craft shops stock a flexable rubber used for stringing beads. Comes in several sizes and a few colors. Larger size make for great heater hoses. I just got some for plug wire size at $0.60 per yard.
  23. No photos of my stash. It's called D&J hobbies in Campbell Ca. Living on a fixed income, ie...social security, I can't afford to stockpile a bunch of stuff. I find a kit that I like, buy it, build it, put it on a shelf, and throw what's left away. O.K. I do save some engine parts and extra wheels/tires.
  24. Shorts, no shorts, at 11 who cares. The important thing is that you are messing with model cars!!!!! I wonder if Clay knew way back then. Bet he did.
  25. For my last birthday, two of my grand daughters got me a 1/16 scale stock 31 Ford pick up. The 1/16 scale might allow me to do a descent job of detailing, even with my bad eyes and shaky hands. Anyone have photos of the 1:1 engine bay? Wiring, plumbing etc... Not going 100% box stock. Engine block will be red as opposed to the shown green, body to be pearl white, and a balsa lined bed. Anyhow, any details showing anything will be greatly appreciated.
