And here I thought that properly wiring an engine bay was tricky.

Kevin, Your use of large fonts in bold is just another way of trying to get attention. "I am importent. Listen to me". It is akin to a child sitting in a corner and screaming. If you really want attention, build something special. Low rider, donk, whatever, just make it good. I'm sure that folks here will appreciate that much more than your ravings.

Way back when, I helped a gf's son with one of these. As I remember, the track was downhill most of the way and then up hill to the finish. Check out the max weight rule, then load it up with fishing sinkers to get there. Main thing is wheel friction. Fit wheels to axles to eliminate wobble, smooth them, then add graphite. The kid won it all. Hope this helps.

Thanks gang, gonna be a good time. Guarantee the food will be great.

Kevin, I'm one of the old farts. Don't have the skills that you have seen in some of the responses here, but will give you a little free advice, worth every cent that you pay for it. Don't let your mouth write a check that your butt can't cash.

Well said Mr. Rios, and bye the way, well shown. I choose you as the winner, whatever poisen he deems to choose.

Wow Chas, That is real dedication to perfection. Thanks for the reply to what would seem a dumb question to some. I'm watching the progress pics and am really looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Please forgive my ignorence but, why so many kits of the same type to build one model? I can understand combining kits but I think that this the first time that I have seen several of the same one used.

I got the same model as George, the middle size one, and it is great. The large one has internal ac outlets which would leave cords and such hanging where you are painting, and a larger in front shelf area, which I saw no use for. Only wish I had done it sooner.

Robert, I'm an old guy. 75 in fact. My eyes are bad, my hands shake, and it is a chore just to get up and down the stairs in my town house. But, the real beauty of building model cars, is that each one I finish is just a little better than the last one. Sure, it may take me a month to get where most folks can get in a couple of days, but I still get there. No, I can't wire a distributer properly, but I can put a little dab of silver paint where the wires would come out. Close enough for me. Enjoy our hobby, do what you can when you can. Look around you an see others that can't even do what you do, and be thankfull., I know that I do.

Hanging Up The #11s For A Long While
m408 replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm pissed. I thought that I was comming to the aid of a fellow model builder, in his time of discomfort. Wrong!! I was dupped by a freaking joke. Never again. Wont care if you decide to quit in the future. Wont care if others say that you stuf stinks. In fact, I may build a "donk" just to smash it with a hammer when it is done. You have done a dis-service to the low rider/donk model builder community by your pathetic display of "poor me". Hope it was worth the laughs that you got from some friends comming to your defence. -

I'm not a fan of low riders or "donks", but, I am a fan of model building. Even though those cars would not be my "build of choice", I can appreciate the skills and planning that go into them and will surely view them with appreciation. I don't comment on them because I have little, if any, knowledge of what goes into them. Don't put up the #11 my friend. Keep building, and for those critics, I say F*** em. This may be deleted for language, but I don't care. It needed to be said. -
Flyers are going out to the LHSs this weekend. Hope to get a good turn out from locals, but, who knows? Who will be attending for Pizza & Pasta?

Just goes to prove that you can, in fact, make a purse out of sow's ears. Great job.

Indycar Season Opener At Homestead
m408 replied to 58 Impala's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was just stirring up some stuf. I also like all kinds of racing. Did a little myself a long time ago. But, that being said, my favorite is still dirt track modifieds. Just something about dirt rooster tails flying comming off of corners. -
Very nice. How did you get the right ground contact with the slicks?

Blah Blah Blah !!!!! If you can't bang doors and trade paint, it ain't racing. NASCAR rules. And, by the way, try to buy a NASCAR machine for $120k. You might get a motor with a spare set of plugs. -
Thanks Mike, great idea. I'm not an engineer, but, wouldn't any vessel with an in and an out fitting do the trick? Assuming that it would handle the pressure, of course.

I have a paasche D-500 compressor for an air brush set up that my kids got me. Can't seem to be able to regulate a steady air flow pressure. Looking for a 1-2 gallon tank. All I can seem to find is complete packages. Just need a tank. Any ideas?

A world of help on this site. My recommendation, make a list of the things that you want help on, then go to the "search" item at the top of the page, right under the Model Cars magazine logo. Type in the subject that you need. It will then take you to a bunch of questions and replies on the subject. Kind of like having a personnel referance library. Hope this helps.

Every day I see a few cars on the road that have colors that I would like to use on model cars. I am very, very, new to air brushing. Can I go to the local auto parts store, get a small bottle of touch up paint, thin, and apply to a model? Hints?

Looks to me like a 53 Ford 4 door with the rear fender spear removed. My opinion, don't mess with the under carriage, but, chop it and drop it. Wide whites and candy apple red paint. Would make a nice early 60's vintage custom. Just my opinion.

well, I like to try new things. Bought a roll, gonna go by the tips in Dave Aungst's piece, and see for myself.

Seems to be a fairly complicated procedure, but, it might be the magic elixer of masking. I'm putting all large part painting on hold until I get some to try.
