  1. I was kidding. Tried a PE part once. Trimmed it nicely with a new #11 blade, started to put it in place on some Future. It flipped off of my sharp tipped tweezers and I haven't seen it since.
  2. Hey Bill, I understand the distance thing. You came from Sacramento. Guys came from Tracy and Hollister, all long distances. Why not drive 15 minutes from around here? Again, I don't know. As for the "finest builders" thing, they say that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder". I stand by my statement. In my mind, you guys are some of the best. Now the day and time thing. I knew that a bunch of you would have to travel long distances. Sunday afternoon seemed like a good time. Would any of you considered a 7:00 PM Thursday? I know that if I had to travel, I wouldn't. I was more interested in meeting you guys. If the locals wanted to take advantage of this opprotunity, fine. Anyhow Bill, thanks for the input, and again, thanks for the support.
  3. Oh no Raul, not at all discouraged about the MCM guys turn out, and will for sure do it again. Maybe late July or Augest. It's just that with the turn out that I saw at NNL West, I was sure that a bunch of folks would jump at the chance to spend some one on one time with you guys. I saw virtualy no pre event advertising for NNL West at the LHSs, in fact, I only learned about it on the forum. If the crowd at NNL had learned about it on the forum, they surely would have known about the get together since we had "talked" about it for weeks. I had even told several guys at my local watering hole about it. They had either built models in the past or had kids building them now. They didn't show either. Just can't figure it out.
  4. Hate to post something of a serious nature, but I will. The April 29th get together had two goals for me. First, I wanted to meet face to face some guys, that through their help and encouragement, got me back into model car building. Mission accomplished. Met some great guys, got more "tips and tricks", and in general, had a great time. Second, get some local interest, maybe even to the point of starting a local club. In that effort, a couple of weeks prior to the event, I distributed flyers to at least a half dozen LHSs in the area. The only "non MCM forum" attendee was Randy from RC Hobbies who knew some of the guys already. Randy, in fact, had run copies of the flyer and had given them out to anyone purchasing model car type products at his store. The flyers proclaimed that on that date "some of Northern California's finest model car builders would be meeting. They would be bringing some of their latest works as well as works in progress". Everyone was invited. They could bring their stuff or just come and see good works with the opportunity to talk with the guys who built them. No takers. What's wrong? Intimidated to bring your builds and afraid of adverse comments? Heck, I wasn't. Brought two glue bombs. Even if intimidation was the thing, they could have left their stuff at home, and at least gotten some new ideas or help. I don't know gang. What's wrong with this picture?
  5. I don't do PE stuf Raul. My 8" sheet metal shears just can't get straight edges, and if they do, I have a hard time lining the parts up when using my "liquid nails" glue to hold them in place.
  6. "PE"? Is that Prostate Exam?
  7. Really fun Anthony. Thanks.
  8. "rigged"?
  9. Anyone up for doing it again late this summer? Maybe late July or early August. That will give everyone time to finish some new stuff. If so, let me know and I'll get things started.
  10. I don't think that he is going to build it. Maybe Kevin will.
  11. Nope, Luigi's is the only one. Frankie, Johnny & Luigi's is miles away in another shopping center.
  12. Just got home from the April 20th get together and would like to spend a moment to thank all those who gave of their time, and with the price of gas, the expense, to attend. It was an extreme pleasure to meet and be able to put a face with the guys that have been so helpful to me in getting back into this wonderful hobby. Seeing your work up close was a real treat. Thanks again, Milt
  13. O.K. Bill, I give up. What's the secret? I still end up with less balls than I started with, but more than I have. Assuming a grid with the upper left box being L1, the lower left box being L5, and the outer right box being R1, (again, the lower left box being L5/R5) lead me through it. Sort of a tutorial for us dumb asses.
  14. Quick solution. Get divorced. Be lucky if you have even one ball left.
  15. Gotta get me a sharpie pen. Since my BMF skills suck, I've been using a Krylon silver leafing pen. It's O.K. but pretty heavy on the "leafing" look. Yours looks much better.
  16. WOW!!! To have just 1/10 of that talent.
  17. Very nice, How did you get the texture for the side panels and top boot?
  18. Jonathan, I'm going to bring my camera with fresh batteries. But, since my photography skills are even worse than my model building skills, I'm hoping that others bring theirs as well. milt
  19. Kevin, It's an informal Nnl. Bring what you want, if you want. Just a bunch of guys eating pizza, drinking beer, and exchanging ideas. Make it if you can. If you do, I'll have something special for you. Milt
  20. Sorry you wont be able to make it Aaron. Milt
  21. Brian, Did you get the get together info that I PM ed? Milt
  22. Ooops, should be Laser Spine Institute.
  23. Gregg, Glad to here that you are progressing nicely. I fractured L-4 and L-5 in a car wreck when I was 16. Now 75 and have had back problems for the last 20 years. Diagnosed as Spinal Stenosis. Heard so many bad things about back fusion that I avoided it. Happened on an outfit in Florida named Laser Spine Surgery. They claim a 85% success rate and out patient care. I actually watched the surgery on closed circuit TV. Talk about looking inside your self. Surgery was $12k out of pocket. That with air fare, lodging, etc.. put the price at about $16k. Guess what? I fell into the 15% unsuccessful group. Anyhow, congratulations on your progress. Milt
  24. Raul, Bring a few extra, if you have them, and can sell me a couple. My next "big step" is more engine bay detail. Milt
  25. Take Raul up on his offer of transportation and get your butt out here.
