  1. The AMT Indy Turbine car kit comes with a wheel Horse push tractor. It only need a mower deck to convert it into a lawn tractor. Chuck great job on your tractor. If I might suggest slightly smaller front tires for a more prototypical look. Thanks Carl
  2. Thanks everyone for the kind words. It is built as a static model so the tracks do not turn. It took about 6 months to get it to this stage. Don't pine too deeply over a lost treasure This was a prebuilt $10 glue bomb that I started with. it was missing pieces and suffered from way too much tube glue. This is how it looked early on in the project. Tom, Sorry to hear about the fire. I would have liked to have seen your Lombard. They are such a unique piece of engineering. Thanks again Carl
  3. This is my recently completed 1/25th scale model of a Lombard log hauler. The originals were used to haul logs out of the forests in North Eatern states and Canada in the early part of the 20th century. The model is built around the boiler from the Monogram model of the 4-4-0 civil war era locomotive "the General". most of the model has been scratch built from plastic structural bits and model ship wood strips. I am planning to build a winter diorama ice road base for the engine and a couple slieghs loaded with logs Thanks for looking Carl
  4. I missed the start of this thread. Someone was looking for pictures of the Moebius Lost in Space chariot. Here are some pics of one that I modified into an off road bucket truck. I think that the track/bellypan would be a great starting point for any snow groomer project. If I had known about the Dodge cab vehicals I think that I would have tried to build one of them instead of the oone I did Thanks Carl
  5. Its awfully difficult to find decent looking 1/25th scale figures. Many of the early Revell ones were a 2 piece hollow casting. Very difficult to reshape with heavy mold lines at the joints. Tamyia made military figures in 1/25th at one time that were quite acurate and easily adapted to civilian figures. Italiai's truck accesories figures are also quite good. I bought the Monogram garbage truck for the three figures in the kit but they are only about 1/32nd scale. The Mr T figure is at least 1/18th scale. Wat too large to fit into any 1/25 scale vehicle. I use figures in all my doioramas and so I'm always on the lookout for useable figures. Thanks Carl
  6. You're off to a good start, Nick. Might I suggest that you frame in your windows and doors with styrene channel instead of angle. That way you get trim on both the inside and outside as well as covering up the holes in the walls. Thanks Carl
  7. Over the years I have aquired several 1/25th scale diecasts. Most are of subject material that is only available as a diecast. I much prefer to build my own models from plastic kits though. I've a collection of many of the SpeCast and First Gear bulldozers. Since I like construction models, its either buy diecast or scratchbuild your own. I do both. A model is a model is a model regardless of the medium its built with. Some of my diecasts have been modified and or improved upon. The '53 Jeep was a Liberty Classics diecast promo bank for Canadian Tire. I replaced the diecast flatbed with a new styrene one. The running gear is from a Revell CJ7 kit. The Meyers plow is scratch built. I also cut open and hinged the hood and installed a slant six power plant and a Cherry Bomb muffler. I also tried to convert a 55 Chrysler diecast into a 55 Desoto for a friend of mine who owns a couple of the real ones but thats another long story. thanks Carl
  8. This is an off-road machine that I built last year. It is a kit bash of the DG Productions bucket truck body and the Moebus Lost in Space Chariot. This is used by line crews in rough and swampy or snowy terrain. In the future I would like to convert a chariot into a SnoCat. Thanks Carl
  9. I get mine in a plain white envelope. Usually it gets here mint despite the best efforts of Canada post.slo. I also hoard all my model magazines. Carl
  10. I have always considered dioramas to be the best way to display a model. It tells the viewer a story about the model. It maybe an explanation about the models function or hints of its past or future life. A good diorama plays on the imagination of the viewer. Most of the models I build end up in some form of diorama. Carl
  11. Chuck, The John Deere tractor and back hoe were the only ones that were reissued. They were only available through John Deere dealers briefly in the mid 90's. I'm afraid that the 1066's and 1155's have never been repopped, nor has any of the wagons or plows. I would like to find a Massey plow kit then I would have the full set of plowing dioramas. This is the one I did with the IH 1066 Thanks Carl
  12. Thanks Guys for all the kind words. It would be nice if the old Ertl agricultural series was brought back. In their day they were some of the best plastic 1/25th scale kits available. The tractor kits realy do make great diorama projects. They are still automotive but far from main stream. Thanks Carl
  13. I suppose my strengths are in scratch building and diorama layouts that are reasonably life like. Carl
  14. The ten cylinder medium speed Sulzer? diesel engine from the Revell 6axle flatbed kit. Carl
  15. It looksa lot like some f the plstic plants that pet shops have for aquariums. They might have something suitable. Carl
  16. If you want to go the diecast route, SpeCast, First Gear and Joal and others have 1/25th scale construction equipment. The bottom row in the displaycase are all diecasts. L-R Cat IT18F loader by Joal (They also made an918 loader too) IH TD24 cable blade by SpeCast Allis TC21 cable blade by First Gear IH TD25 by First Gear IH TD24 side boom by SpeCast Bantam Crane by SpeCast The top row has a scratch built Sandy Grael crusher, A bantam swing shovel by SpeCast and a Cat D8 cable blade modified from the AMT kit SpeCast also makes a 1/25th scale Bantam cable hoe Thanks Carl
  17. As a dio it would be a great way to show off all the detailined plumbing that was put into the bottom of a model then never seen again. You think that maybe that sea can was a bit top heavy? Carl
  18. It sort of looks like a chassis dyno. Carl
  19. Great work on the scratch built flatbed trailer. I have a copy of those plans and have been thinking about building one. Thanks for some inspiration. Both the JD tractor kits are sharp looking models. I looked for years before I found a JD plow kit at a price that I was willing to pay. It does make up into a decent model. I'm still on the search for the MF plow to complete my set. Carl
  20. This started out as a Canadian Tire diecast promo. It was a curbside originally. After much kit bashing and a bit of scratch building it is now Crooked six powered. The engine came out of the parts box I believe it could be from an MPC 2nd generation Barracuda It is connected to a push button Torqueflyte tranny Thanks Carl
  21. Thanks for sharing all your pics, Howard. Looks like there was plenty of quality builds at the snow. That stash of goodies you aquired should keep you busy for a few days this summer. That Hess trainging van looks like a jem. Carl
  22. I'm looking for an all Canadian final with the cup going to Canucks in 6 Carl I was a Jets fan But now its the Senators Carl
  23. Hi Gary This is probably the kit you need for your Huey project if you pillage the jet turbine out of it you would have a power plant for your pull tractor. As for a pull tractor kit AMT made a model of the Meister Brau Blazin Bison tractor. It has 3 engines, big tires and lots of suitcase weights. It would be a good place to start to build a puller. I nevefr built my kit but it has been a great souce for parts. Carl
  24. A couple weeks back I finished building a model of my first new car. A 1968 383ci 4 gear Formula S Baracuda fastback. I built the car from an old MPC gluebomb body and the MPC 1969 Baracuda kit. The original car had Craiger SS wheels also. I should never have traded it in. I don't think that I could easily build my first car. It was a 1964 Canadian Valiant V-100 4door. To build it I woudl need both a valiant and Dodge dart kit to the both front and back clips Thanks Carl
  25. Good to see that the "Under construction" sign has gone ... finally. I see that Megacity has moved to a new time and place. That should be more convenient for those of us west of TO. Looking forward to futhur updates on your new sight. Thanks Carl
