  1. Very nice work Steven, you are right, the wheels help a lot, and the rarity factor goes a long ways!
  2. My '66 hardtop is that same yellow, but is a much larger car. You can see pics of it in the General section if you're interested, hence my call name!!
  3. All Comets are pretty scarce Rob. Being a Mercury they never sold nearly as many as their sibling Ford, most of them that were out there gave up their mechanical parts for restoring a more popular Ford model many years ago! But it is very welcome to see one being made that's not just a promo type model!!
  4. Yes Eric, you are correct! The shovel shaped grille as well as the independent headlights and the flair of the fenders make the '33-34s some of the best looking cars of the era. Good luck with yours, it would be really cool if they would reissue one of them with a stock build option!
  5. Great project Art, will be looking forward to seeing your progress!
  6. Yes, I stand corrected Steve! Now that they have pic of a more complete model with better lighting and foil work done it looks much better.
  7. Guys, I just pulled out my '65 Comet sales brochure, the roof line on the model is correct for the Cyclone, is slightly different than the Caliente pictured. Both of the wheel wells are a little too round though.
  8. Outstanding work!! Maybe a little black wash around the filler door though.
  9. Very nice! Keep that one safe from harm!
  10. Nice job, as ridiculed as they were in my area when they were new they actually have a club for them now!
  11. Nice job Mike, there are some really cool colors of nail polish out there, the looks you get from people when you are picking out a basket full of them at the store with no lady around can be really funny too!!
  12. That is a cool looking truck, Bill! As well as some great ideas by the rest of the guys! I'll be watching to see how this one turns out.
  13. Only one Stephen? Must be an easy build!!
  14. As a side bar to your Cadillac V8-6-4 engine Harry, my dad was a project engineer for a large specialty machine design company in those days, he was in charge of a group that had the "pleasure" of designing the machine that cast the blocks for those engines. I remember him coming home right after he found out his company had "won" the contract saying "that engine will never work, but if GM wants a machine, we'll build them a machine". It didn't take long for them to start sticking in odd number configurations and they all had to be recalled!
  15. This should be very cool Todd! Love seeing things you don't see everyday!
  16. Very true Doug! But a '57 shouldn't even be allowed to stay that nice!!
  17. Very cool Joel! Always nice to see something out of the ordinary!
  18. Hey everybody, just curious what your least favorite car/truck is? Not looking for "I don't like anything that's not made by ____", but do you have a particular reason for not liking "Brand X"? Or better yet, is there a specific year or model of car that you thought a manufacturer completely laid an egg on?
  19. Saw an early 90s Dodge P/U today, you know the type, about 1/4 of it's body rusted away, painted "caution orange" with a black "01" and "General Lee" painted on the doors! Since this is an all-ages forum, and Greg or Harry would kick me off, I won't tell you what I really thought, but I'm sure his buddies and the "ladies of the evening" were super impressed though!!
  20. No, David I am the 3rd owner, she was my first car, bought in June '84 when I was 16. It has out lasted 5 everyday drivers, 2 houses, and a marriage! Other than a fresh paint job (that one was done in '87), a refreshing of the chrome and interior (both done in late '80s also), she is staying as is.
  21. Would love to see a '69 Olds 88, big classy car, has never been done by anyone, anywhere!
  22. You could try some pencil dust on those whitewalls Joel, it should tone down the brightness and give you a little more control over how much than a wash.
  23. Very tastefully done Joel!
  24. Since you already have a '69 builder Mark picking up a current '70 Impala from your LHS for around $25 would probably be the most time and cost effective way for you to finish yours, assuming that all the '69 specific parts are present and intact on your builder. If not Modelhaus seems to have almost all of them except for the body, unfortunately they do not offer a trans kit for this one, buying them individually can get pricey pretty fast, that's why I started this thread!
