  1. That is simply amazing Marcos!
  2. That kind of makes them sound like diapers!
  3. I'm a technician also Dwayne, yes it's always amusing to see the "deer in the headlights" look from the suits when you throw technical jargon at them. But, they truly are clueless when it comes to the idea that the government's requirement for an approved repair always takes precedence over what the person above them wants, or saving the company a few dollars!
  4. A Chevy, are you feeling OK Tulio??!! But your work is exquisite as usual!

    Very nicely don Tom!
  6. Very good Mike, but you just made my hair hurt!
  7. Harry and Snake, you guys are both absolutely right! The larger the corporation, the more of these (fill in colorful term here) type of people they have! They spend literally every moment of their lives thinking up this stuff because they think it will impress someone that has the power to give them a more powerful sounding title. Then they call endless meetings to show off their new words they just made up when most of us consider meetings to be weapons of mass distraction, why should we have to spend countless hours TALKING about doing work we've been doing for decades when they should just be letting us DO THE WORK?!
  8. Yeah Jeff, I totally understand that, and like I mentioned, the '69 Olds 88 has never been done by anyone, anywhere! And while the BOP division was sharing many parts in those days, a Buick or Pontiac kit from 68-70 could get you a long way, it would still take an enormous amount of skill to make the unique parts to make it an Oldsmobile! Just wishful thinking that someone might do it someday!
  9. Very cool Tom, I know how it is to get a project stalled for a really long time like that! But it looks like you're getting pretty close, good luck completing it now!
  10. Thanks Jeff! I guess I'm still really luck in that while most of those shops I mentioned have been gone for 25-30 years, I still have 4 traditional hobby shops within a 10 mile radius of me, I can hit all of them in a few hours on a day off if I choose, and 3 of them have been there for 40+ years! BTW I see if you reply you will get an upgrade on your status!!
  11. Very well done Dan, I was thinking of the ocean liner when I saw the name too! I have built my share of ships, mostly ocean liners and WWII era war ships, they can take detailing to a whole new level!
  12. Nicely done Kenneth, and the lesser seen of the Nomads too!!
  13. I learned something new today Ron! I thought the British only referred to the U.S. as "the colonies"!
  14. Yes David, nail polish runs through an airbrush very nicely, no need to thin it or anything! Also, there is a place in the UK called White Ensign that I have dealt with when I do military subjects, that's pretty much all they do, but some things work for all subjects, and I have enjoyed dealing with them. If you are having a hard time finding places close to you they might have some things you can use!
  15. Thanks for the input guys, it's much appreciated! BTW Kris, is there any way I can get a movement started here to get you to cast a '69 Olds 88 for us?! Besides being the other one of the first cars that I remember my parents owning, along with the '69 Chevy, It's a very classy looking car, has never been kitted by anyone, and could use the '69 Wildcat that Tommy mentioned, or the soon to be reissued '70 Bonneville as a donor!!
  16. Thanks Scott! After all isn't that why most of pay serious money for old model kits that were usually pretty crude, then come on here to tell everyone, is to take us back to a time when the only things we had to concern ourselves with was: finish your school work, eat your dinner, and don't go with strangers?!
  17. Looks good David! Also, you can get some really cool colors really cheap if you can learn to consider the strange looks you get from folks that see you picking out a basket full of nail polish at the drug store with no lady around as part of the entertainment of model building! They can be quite priceless!!
  18. Sounds like we are from the same time and place Tim! I remember the Eight Mile Rd. shop, but not the name. Nor do I remember the name of the place in Wyandotte, I don't get downriver too often. But Models Hobby at 9&Woodward was a great place, I still see the guy who rented the back part of the shop from the for stamps&coins in later years. I could tell you a story he told me about how that shop went down, it's rather ugly. Last time I was down that way the old railroad crossing shaped sign they used was still there and was lettered up for the religious book shop that took over for them!! Also, Tiny Tim's a few miles farther North on Woodward was great too, as was Squadron Shop on Gratiot in Mt.Clemens. Sorry to bore you guys with my little trip down memory lane!
  19. I agree with you Scott. The only reason I bought that kit back then was because the '62 Dart 440 was the first car I remember my grandparents owning, back when my feet didn't go past the edge of the seat. It was triple beige, kinda looked like a space ship inside. It's a multiple way tie between that car and many other Chrysler products from that era for being the weirdest looking car I've ever seen, but given a chance to buy any of them in kit form, I'd buy every one of them!!
  20. On a very large subject like a ship or plane that may be 2-3ft long and 1-1.5ft wide, yes I can be very OCD about details! But on a small scale car or truck, I reference pictures to get close, there is definitely a point where it's "close enough".
  21. That would be great if you did that Kris! And we're less than an hour apart too!
  22. Hi guys! Does anyone currently make a trans kit to turn the readily available AMT '70 Impala into a '69? The original '69s are pretty scarce and usually very pricey! Also, although the cars are very similar, the front ends are different enough the body may take alot of work. Any thoughts are appreciated!
  23. I also have this kit along with several others from the USA Oldies series that were released around 1980. Johan was nearing the end of the line by that time, it is plausible that they simply slapped together enough "close enough" parts to release these kits, whereas the original 1962 release may have had the correct dash.
  24. Yeah, the conversation always gets much more interesting when Joe shows up!! And you too Bill!
  25. I agree with Kerry. That kit is far too easy to find MIB if you want a completed one, once you have tampered with this one there is no going back, and the memories of your friend's work are ruined!
