  1. Muncie, Thanx for that link. will have a look around at Ed's parts. J.C. Now I get what you're saying. Didn't notice that before. Did some work in the shop on the front leaf suspension, only took two attempts to get those 4 holes spaced equally. I can't tell how many leaves where used on the real car so Im only going to make 2. 3 just looks wrong with the styrene I have on hand.
  2. JC, I'm not following you on "raising the apex". Still looking for the right front wheels for this, the ones in the Revell K.S. pittman Willys would be perfect but they only fit their too wide front tires. AMT Ohio George 33 Willys are close but are four lug and SMALL window Halibrands. Looked at Speed City Resin, think they have what I need for front wheels and tires. The rear Wheels on this car look to an awful lot like those in the Monogram Lil' Coffin kit. anyone know what those were?
  3. AFX, If you look at where the top of the rear wheel and how it is just below the style crease that runs horizontally (don't know the correct terminology) I think Im off a bit. But that is a problem with the AMT moulding. The rear wheel opening is just a little too high, using tires just oversize I think minimizes the problem. Also look at how forward those front wheels are.
  4. iBorg, yup that is actually a seat out of a Johan S.&M. Barracuda kit. Only for mock-up or will have to cut the headrest shaved off.
  5. That looks like good old fashion drag racing to me , would love to witness that if I ever get to Argentinaand a good Asado.
  6. Thanx, there is still a ways to go. Next step will be making the front suspension leaves and shackles. Because the frame is glued to the interior tub(to fragile to make separate) I have to consider how I will paint this thing. Some chassis details will have to be added after paint so masking doesn't become too impossible. Still trying to decide if I should start with the Aluminium color and mask for the Black frame or the other the other way around and use Alclad Aluminum over a Black base. Decisions decisions
  7. Snake, you're think'n just as I am. Here is a pic of an Poppy Red mustang in full sunlight. sure could be mistaken for Orange.
  8. Thanx for that, looks like safety isn't first priority there
  9. Got it all mocked up with Aleene"s Tacky adhesive. Motor mount is just temperary and will need some fine tuning but I think I got the elevation right. The stance looks close, maybe rear end needs to be brought up just a bit. Steering gear box and shaft are located (this will make things interesting doing the headers) its a tight space.
  10. Andy, its funny the Neon even had its own road racing class (SCCA)if I remember correctly? About drag racing, here is a reference picture I found from the early years. Stripped down, bare minimum speed projectile of the day. Kinda reminds me of what could be the spirit of the builder of the car I posted.
  11. Is this what you are working on? Maybe not but the pics are nice. http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/02/fire-breathing-neck-snapping-the-ultimate-capri/
  12. This is the new form of hot rodding. Interesting and just as innovative as it should be. Now I know what I can do with that Tamiya Kit I bought. Sorry
  13. Just started working on this old beaten horse again, therapy has not helped so I have spent the summer studying old grainy magazine photos and any pictures I could find on the internet to figure this thing out.(lots of head scratching and scribbles on notepads) Today I did put together a reasonable facsimaly of a steering gear box and got the motor closer to where I think it should be. One major thing on this build is the color of the car. Now the guy from "Fremont Racing Specialties" says he remembers it as an orange , I have pictures from the internet that lead me to believe it was "Ford Poppy Red". (In sunlight this red looked and photographed very orange-ish .) He thinks its a Chevy orange. I'll post some pictures soon of progress on this. Oh, has anyone got an example of what a Simpson shield for a C6 transmission would have looked like back in 1967? Scrounged the web, can't find anything.
  14. For some reason when I look at these pics on my iPad they are upside down. Used Fotki to paste them here and look fine on my PC. Is there a way to fix this?
  15. At a nearby drive in some local Boise cars showed up. 1962 Lancer 225 Hyper-pak. 1937 Plymouth sedan straight six W/Floating-Power. Smoothest running flathead Ive ever witnessed.
  16. Here is an excerpt from a Hot Rod magazine interview w/George Montgomery where he talks about the car. "ET: Around 1970 you introduced a novel Maverick-based race car with an adjustable wheelbase. How did this car come to be and was it successful?OG: That was the “Multi-Maverick.” The idea was to be able to run the car as an altered or a gasser depending on where the front axle centerline was set. I had plans to run it in match races and also as a class-legal car. The truth is, I didn’t build the car, and I only drove it one time during a test session at a rented track. The Multi-Maverick came about partly because the 1⁄25-scale plastic model car kit companies (AMT rendered George’s ’33 Willys and MPC kitted the ’67 Malco gasser.–ed) wanted me to have a new car every year so they could sell the kits. So MPC had the Maverick built for me to my approximate specifications. The deal was they paid for it in lieu of any royalties I’d otherwise earn. It has all come full circle. There are amazingly detailed pre-assembled 1⁄18-scale die-cast replicas of my Willys and the Malco gasser Mustang you can buy new at the hobby shop today or directly from me at OhioGeorge.com. I even autograph them." To me its funny that MPC commissioned the build of the car and yet still screwed up things in the kit.:)
  17. Just ordered this kit... What is the general opinion on parts supplied in the kit. I see some comments about valve covers not being accurate, is this based on what Model King put in the box? Sorry if this has been answered earlier in the thread, just don't have the time anymore to read each and every post. This kit looks like a great opportunity for those who do aftermarket parts; resin, decals, Photo-etch. <grill please.
  18. Well, thanx for that. It is going to be my next build, It kinda sux about the tire rot . Found another one on eBay so will have extra parts. It's MOVING pictures, very new technology
  19. Same kit as the old Ohio "George" Multi Maverick, only moulded in blue Styrene. Made this video for another forum, thought I'd share it here (its a funky kit that I have not seen many builds of). No skript. One take. Shaky iPad video. And some tire melt thrown in for a good laugh. https://youtu.be/pHJg9CFMCMY
  20. Yes indeed he does, They are on there way.
  21. Karl, you were correct about the eBay seller thanx. Russ, that was exactly the thread I was looking for. J.C. great work manipulating that styrene.
  22. Ace, it is the same 105/205 you are familiar with. Just in foil packets 0.56 fl oz. each sold in packages of 6. Got them at a marine supply store.
  23. I'm going to order some, do you remember anything about that old thread that could help? Tried searching for it but no joy.
  24. J.C. What a great looking Falcon. Just an idea but wondering if you thought about doing some weathering on it. Maybe some oil stains and grime perhaps some imperfections or ware marks on the body. Just a thought, it looks so cleanSeriously Its fantastic!
  25. 64ss350... I do see that now, I really have got to work on my eBay searching skills. It does LOOK like the same stuff, just wish I could find that old thread to be sure. I should have bookmarked it, anyone else remember this thread from about a year ago?
