Doctor DRYbooth

I like this Idea, sounds like a relatively easy DIY project. And the fact there is no fan stirring dust particles around. -
Able to log back into Fotki this morning.
-
well, just when I was going to update my build thread I find out Fotki is down for some reason. Dang nabitt anyway! No clue how long this has been going on. Is it working for anyone?

Sad news, what an incredible talent . That guy could play!

In my latest Micro-Mark catalog there is this new item https://www.micromark.com/Dr.-Dry-Booth At $199.95 I think it's rather expensive for what use it might be to myself. Has anyone tried it? Again it's just not anything I need at this time, just wondering if you have seen it yet.

If that is regular styrene I would try soaking it with denatured alcohol. It has worked for me before when cleaning up after messy craft projects -

Dennis, those are great pics thanx for sharing them. The Revell 66 GT should be a good starting point for you're project. -

Bill, Thanx, I was wondering what you're opinion was on this. Yup, the valve covers appear kind of blocky and simplistic. didn't notice the incorrect exhaust spacing. It's amazing to me how many attempts have failed at reproducing this engine in scale. -

I don't get it, there is a new version of this engine by Moebius/Model King, I've yet to see comparisons with other examples as to the accuracy of it. Have commented on this before and would like to hear what the EXPERTS here have to think about it All of the ones being compared here seem to have one problem or another. -
What do you listen to while you build???
STYRENE-SURFER replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Dave, you're really not that much of an outlier. My Vortexbox server is filled with old jazz fusion tracks. Those are all great artists, when I was young got turned onto a neighbors record collection. When I heard Miles, Weather Report, John McLaughlin and others it changed my life forever. And I was listening to Punk at the time, go figure -

If you like to build HOT RODS and listen to ROCKABILLY, here is a great streaming channel with real DJ's from all over the world. http://rockabilly-radio.net/djs/ Great music and programs. Especially "The Drag Strip w/Strops Hop." You can listen to his his archived shows on Mixcloud here> www.mixcloud.com/StropsHop/ If you are into 60's 70' album rock and love deep tracks and real DJ's, "WXYG the GOAT' from Sauk Rapids MN is one of my favorites. thegoatwxyg.com/index.htm When I'm in a weird mood I will always go to this station filled with wonderful PSYCHEDELIC mainstays and obscurities as well as crazy old radio adds done by artist from the time period and some fun bumpers as well. psychedelicized.com -

I see no mention of the new Moebius/Model King 1965 Mercury Cyclone A/FX kit motor. I did post on the car kit news & reviews thread, but no one answered my question about the valve covers. It looks good to me. Better than most of the examples in my kit stash anyway. -

Thanx Dennis, The Holman Moody A/FX cars were interesting. What car did you see at the Ford museum? Would love to some of those photos you took. Which kit are you going to use for the body/chassis ? The AMT funny car Mustang-GT (that looks like it) It's an old tired out moulding, hence the name of my thread. But still a cool kit with lots of possibuilities . -

New front axle finally glued up. First had to lace the U-Bolts over and through the mounting platforms. Carefully glued and trimmed. On the car. Next will have to make some shackles, disk brakes, order the correct wheels and on and on -

Thanx Andy, Here is a picture of the version of the car I'm building. You can see the shape of the oil pan clearly. Interesting how they setup the front geometry. Look at how the front tires have swung forward on launch. -
Tom, You are correct, tho I had hoped it could be repaired instead of going into the ever growing disposable products land fill. At least there was no charge to find out it was on it's way there.

While working on a new avatar (I like to create my own and not just copy images directly) my printer/scanner died. The local repair shop told me today it's DOA. Jeez it's only 2and 3/4 years old. Ugh! Anyway here is as far as I got on a new avatar before I could get a good scan.

Just heard this a couple days ago on internet radio. Used to hear it all the time great song and car related Had forgotten about it. Just pretend he's holding an X-acto Knife in his hand. -
Yup, Newt was the man. Wish the Orbitron had looked half as good as his drawings, as built it was just awkward.
-
Rick, Nice build. Think I saw this on an other site C.C.2 ? Ed Roth was always one of my favorite custom hot rod designers. Well that was till I found out/saw all the designs "Newt" did. His renderings from back then are amazing. This picture has actually bene my screen saver for a few weeks. What a coincedance What ever became of this crazy custom.

Could it be the Dehydrator that caused the problem? or was that the body that that has no issues. How thick is the paint and how much clearance was there beforehand? Just a thought. -

Some more progress today. Added shock mount to the leaf spring platforms, got one side glued up. Have to sand down the heads on the U bolts. They are made from Plastruct .8mm styrene Hex rod hoping that the effect will appear like nuts. -

STYRENE-SURFER replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Received this Kit I ordered from Model Round Up. Looks great! I did compare the valve covers to those in the 1/25th AMT Ohio George '33 Willys kit. The Comet kit V/covers are larger, .072" longer. Hmm. Comet V/covers 1.08" long or about 27 inches. (tho the flange might be overly large) Anyone know what the real measurements are? I googled but can't find the answer. -

If the Souza Bros. where running that engine they would have been unbeatable. Tho they did quite well with there Algon-injected 427 Wedge.
