  1. Advent was a lower-priced brand that Revell introduced in the late 70's / early 80's. Most of the kits were reissues of older Revell kits. Some didn't even have chrome plated parts.
  2. The model looks great John!! Just like the real thing. You should do the primered version too, that would be cool. Sorry I missed seeing you yesterday. I couldn't make it to the show this year.
  3. I've made contact with Chris and everything's straightened out. Can't wait to get the kit!
  4. I paid a deposit through paypal for one of these and never heard anything back. Are these kits available now? Would my deposit apply towards the purchase price?
  5. I'm traveling to Danbury CT for business next week and would like to check out any hobby shops around there. I don't mind driving a little out of my way if there's a good place.
  6. The key to this one is traction. Once the John Deere's tires started spinning, it was all over. No matter how much power you have, if you can't get it to the ground, it's useless.
  7. Considering how much money our government spends, I've always wondered why they kept and retrofitted the car JFK was killed in instead of crushing it and building a new one? It seems we haven't had that many new presidential limos over the years.
  8. Does anyone have this kit? What's the casting quality like? It's a car I've wanted for a LONG time and was thinking about ordering it.
  9. My personal favorite model car moments are: Discovering Scale Auto magazine in 1981: Before that I had no idea what guys were doing with models. Most of my childhood building was between 1976 & 1982. Probably the worst years for the hobby! 1989 Toledo NNL / Dayton COMA meeting : This was the first big show I ever attended. Got to meet a bunch of folks I'd only read about. I even ate Pizza at Randy Derr's workbench. It doesn't get any better than that! 1989 MAMA World of Wheels contest: Winning an award there was great ,but the following 23 years as a MAMA member have been even better!
  10. For me it would have to be the 68 Cobra Jet Mustang. Ford's last factory drag racer until 2008.
  11. I've purchased several kits from them and they're great to deal with!
  12. Welcome Darian! I'm from right down the road in Hampstead. There's two great clubs you should check out. The Maryland Automotive Modelers Assoc (MAMA) who meet every 3rd Saturday at the community center in Greenbelt. Also the Central PA Model Car Club (CPMCC) who meets the first Saturday of every month at the Mt Wolf, PA. fire hall. Mt Wolf is about 10 minutes north of York off of I-83.
  13. That's good to hear. I hadn't seen Ed vending at any shows lately and someone said he'd stopped casting. Glad he's still going. He made a lot of really cool stuff!
  14. Thanks guys! I found out after I posted that the "custom" version of the Trumpeter kit had one, but I have the stock one, unfortunately. I figured Ed Fluck made one, but i've heard he's out of business. I went ahead and ordered the Comp Resins one from Slixx. I needed a decal sheet anyways!
  15. Does anyone make a teardrop hood for a 64 Falcon? Preferably to fit the Trumpeter kit, but I'd imagine one for the AMT could be adapted to fit.
  16. Detail Master makes those Part numbers: DM-2081 & DM-2080
  17. From one "Dave T" to another, That looks great! I'm not usually into modern stockers, but I like yours. Great car choice too.
  18. Darin, You hit the nail square on the head! When I had my hobby shop, I refused to deal with Great Planes because of Tower Hobbies. In my opinion, it won't be long before Revell is made "Exclusive" to G.P. just like OS Engines and Futaba radios, freezing out other distributors like Horizon and Stevens Intl, not to mention the mail order companies who buy kits direct from Revell now. Those people are not able to meet the requirements to buy from G.P. This does not mean doom for the hobbyist, the kits will still be out there, they'll probably be less available and much more expensive.
  19. Where's the couch? I need somewhere to sleep when I come up there!
  20. That thing is so cool! I especially like the widened Rally wheels on the back. As we ALL know, everything looks better with rally wheels. (except Fairlanes)
  21. The Buick looks great Bill. Congrats on the house too. The mod to the front end made the stance perfect, and I still can't believe the shine you got from that old Tamiya X-22 clear! Are you coming the meeting Saturday?
  22. I'll look around for the photo, but it's probably buried under a ton of stuff. Gary moved away some years ago, so he doesn't get to the meetings any more. The only time I see him is at the Toledo NNL, but he wasn't there this year.
  23. Great Job Ismael! That's definitely a rare kit! Andy's website says that only about 150 were made. I remember seeing the master at a MAMA meeting when Gary McNutt started on it. He carved the body from balsa wood! He cut flat pieces of wood in the rough shapes and laminated them together. I have a photo around here somewhere, but I can't find it. That was probably 16 or 17 years ago! Dave
  24. That's going to be a nice bike! Where did you get the springer front end?
  25. I am in the process of decaling a die-cast for a friend of mine, and I think I should apply some type of clear coat over the decals to make them a little more durable. These are Alps printed decals, so I think Future would be safe to use. The car is not disassembled, so I need to apply the Future by hand. Any tips on doing this? Does it flow out decently? I have sprayed Future with my airbrush before with good results.
