  1. Way back before the 71 kit was even released there were some teaser test shot sprue pics of a 73 grill, front bumper and flat hood from Revell. Word was that they were planning the 73 "Elanor" from the original "Gone in 60 Seconds" movie. Nothing has been mentioned of it since. Does anyone know anything about it? My first car was a 73 Mach 1 and I've always wanted a decent kit of it. The Round2 kit is total garbage in my opinion.
  2. I'm looking for a Moebius 66 Ford Short Bed Styleside kit.
  3. It's a Ram Air air cleaner, unfortunately. It looks like we'll have to wait until the 1973 version (Eleanor) comes out to get a correct non-Ram Air air cleaner. Hopefully the aftermarket can step up.
  4. The decals in the European issue are not just more extensive. They're printed in Italy (by cartograf?) and appear to be higher quality than the ones in the US release. I don't know why they just don't use the same ones?
  5. The decals in the 007 kit are basically just for that version which is a Mach I without the stripes. That version had a chrome strip separating the body color from the black panted lower portion. Revell cheated and made this part of the decal. The builder would have to add this using strip plastic to be totally accurate. You could add the stripes and spoilers from the Boss 351 and make the more common version. Of course, this would only work for black stripes since Revell doesn't include silver (argent) "Mach I" logos in the kit. My hope would be that Revell will include these in the US version, or maybe even do it as a 2 in 1 that would build both versions.
  6. I have the European issue of the 007 Mach I and it's definitely a 429. Really nice kit!
  7. Love how they tried to capture the "Bent out" effect on the single headlight grille. When Dodge removed the inboard headlights, they replaced that area with a section cut from further in on the grille which had to be pinched slightly to match the way the grille tapered. causing the middle to stick out a little further. It's little touches like this that make for a good model! It's also great that they included a 4 headlight grille which some guys also ran.
  8. I hate to be a "Debbie Downer" but Indy Car kits have ended up being a poor seller for companies that have tried them in the past. I'm sure they'll be well done and I wish them a lot of luck though.
  9. At NNL East, Ed Sexton said it should be out in July. I hope so!
  10. Hi Rex! I wonder if that's the US release date? Most Revell kits are released in Europe well ahead of their release here. The Olds 442 was out in Germany at least 2 months before the US boxed version.
  11. I saw it too, and yeah, I don't want one THAT bad. I have a feeling that Revell Germany will reissue it someday. The Kenworth Dump is coming back this year and I didn't think that would ever happen, so you never know. If the wrecker does come back out it'll probably be close to $150 retail, but that's still better than $300 - $500
  12. The Powell pickup is going to be a 3d printed kit. Okey had a prototype on display at the show in Atlanta. It looks really good and he seems serious about getting it out.
  13. Chuck Boerner (CHUCK'S 60's- 80's DRAG RACING MODEL CAR DECALS on Facebook) makes a nice set of replacement Jungle Jim decals for this kit as well as a lot of other 1/16 Vega decals. His stuff is really high quality
  14. I always took off the cowl braces when I changed plugs on my 73.
  15. The headlights look fine to me. Especially when you consider the area around them will be painted black. The AMT and MPC headlights were always too small anyway
  16. There is really nice set of the sport wheel covers in the Revell 70 Mach I kit.
  17. Seeing these test shot pics makes me very optimistic about this kit (I'd like to see a straight on side shot, though). The engine compartment has details I've never seen in a production kit before. Is that really an emissions evap canister hiding under the passenger side strut brace?? Looks like there might even be room to shoehorn a 429 in there! At first I thought the rear splash pan and exhausts were wrong, but I did some searching and the Boss 351 had the straight splash pan and turn-down exhaust just like the model (and my 73 Grande) had. Surprised they didn't have the notched pan with the chrome tips, but those must've come later. It would be nice if they would include another wheel option, like the "Ford Motor Company" dog dishes, but it's not a big deal since Fireball Modelworks makes a really nice set.
  18. Looks like it's going to be cool!! Will the A990 and AWB have the correct Dodge steering wheel and dash, or will they just be carried over from the Plymouth? Dave
  19. While I'm sure it was primarily a financial decision by Salvinos, I suspect that NASCAR strongly suggested doing the Next Gen cars instead of the Gen 6. They don't seem to have any interest in looking backwards. Tooling the Next Gen car is a bit of a gamble as it has yet to turn a wheel in actual competition and testing has already brought several changes. I would expect even more changes once they start racing. I can fully understand why builders would prefer the Gen 6 chassis as it would provide the opportunity to build nearly 10 years worth of cars through the use of resin bodies and aftermarket decals. All you can build with the Next Gen are cars from 2022. Hopefully there will be decals for other Chevy teams besides Hendrick and maybe even Ford or Toyota resin bodies since the chassis is identical for all three makes.
  20. I have Mad Mike's 427 SOHC engine. It's very nicely done, but I don't like that the whole thing is already together in one piece. It'll be a nightmare to paint that way.
  21. I recently picked up one of these "Eleanor" kits. The are very nicely done. Misha does great work and he's an awesome guy to deal with. I purchased one of his Citroen SM kits a while back and somehow the postal service managed to both damage the package and the body as well as soak the whole thing in water!. Not only did he send me a new body free of charge, but he also sent along a new box and instruction sheet to replace the water damaged ones.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see this at some point too
  23. Has anyone heard anything more about this kit? Revell hasn't announced it in any of their 2021 releases so far. I hope they didn't decide to shelve the project.
  24. Thanks JC! That means a lot coming from you!
  25. I'll have to fix that. I may have to start the hood over, which sucks because I'll have to trash another Torino kit. It was hard to tell with the reference photos I had when I started. With Pearson's car being white, that hood line tends to disappear in photos. I have found a photo of Bobby Allison's car that shows it: I can also see it in the only photo of the Pearson car I could find with the hood open: Until I found this I never realized that the entire chassis and even the engine were painted red!
