Great work Jay, but you knew I thought that already. We have a FB group that started out as a tribute to this new model from Tamiya and to help kick it off we had a build contest. People entered a pic and the members of the group voted. Well, this car won. Congrats again Jay. Bill, the car is German but the car is run by Riley Motorsports out of the US in the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car series. At Watkins Glen last year this car ran with the US flag on the roof and the sister car ran with a full Stars and Stripes livery for July 4th weekend. Very nice Ash. Looking forward to seeing the artwork on this. I love the green. I dont know why, but I forgot to post my "finished" pics before the end of the race. Technically I didnt get it 100% done. I had a few small details to paint up but the clear ended up being a bit softer than I'd like for handling so I left if alone to harden up. I figured it was better to come away with something I was happy with, then have it be ruined just to "finish on time". I still need to mask and paint the window frames and detail the center nuts on the wheels. I also plan on "dirtying it up" some to hide my few overspray spots from a rushed masking job. Even though I was rushed the paint came out great.No sanding, buffing or polishing. Primer, paint, masking, decals then clear and no wet sanding on the clear either and it looks great. I got no orange peel what so ever. All in all I'm really happy with the results. I'm off tomorrow, so the plan is to get this finished off.

I dont know why you're disappointed, looks great to me. I love the weathering. If mine looks that good when I finish the final bits I'll be ecstatic.

Mine is gonna be close. I'm in the process of detailing the body now. Clear cured up enough, so I have just over an hour to wrap things up. Back to the bench.....tick tock......

Nice Ash. I'll have an update soon. Chassis is almost done, just some detail painting and final assembly. Body is decaled and cleared, just waiting for it to cure up so I can detail paint and assemble there....it's gonna be close.

Go Ash Go! I've got the decals done on the driver side, the front and the roof. I have the passenger side and rear left as well as the wheels. Still plugging away. Going to be close to getting finished before the race finishes I think, but I'm going to try. More in another hour or so I hope. Keep at it guys.

Car is painted. I've got a bit of overspray in some spots cause I didnt get the tape down perfectly. I'm not sure how to handle it at this stage, I may just leave it and "weather" the car to hide the few spots. The colour in the pic doesnt do the brightness of the Florescent Red justice, its VERY dayglow in person. More to come. Time for a dinner break.

So I'm way behind on updates, I had planned on doing them every hour but with the ACO killing streams on youtube I've had to spend a lot of time looking for a stream to watch. For now, this is where I'm at. Body is painted. I now need to mask it and paint the Florescent Red. Chassis and suspension parts are painted and I can start assembly and detail painting shortly. Tires are sanded out but I had to strip and paint the wheels so they're a bit behind, just be reprimed now. I have a bunch of small parts not pictured that are ready to be hand painted and assembled. More in an hour or so, I hope. Looking forward to seeing some updates guys.

Nice progress Ash. I've got just about everything painted in their base colours. Just need to let it dry then I can mask. Pics soon. I can start on the chassis shortly so I'll post up a pic then. It's a white care with a white chassis so there is literally nothing to see yet. Update soon.

Hour 1 and 2 update for me ...no pics got off to a slow start due to crappy streams, took awhile to get one stabilized and watchable Everything is off the trees and cleaned up and in primer. Paint will start soon. I'll get some pics up after I get the paint going. Keep us updated on your progress with pics when you can. Enjoy the race.

Build whatever Ash, doesnt have to be a LM, tho I would of liked to have done one too, but nothing in the stash that would be doable in 24hrs. I like the JGTC looking version of the RX-7. Great James, we'll be happy to have you join us. I still havent finished mine from last year, I had huge fitment issues in the last couple hours, figured it was better to box it than bin it. I'm doing another build for the Le Mans 24hr this year. Anyone else who might be interested can post up pics in this thread. I'll be building Tamiya's Toyota Tom's Supra GT in the Marlboro livery. Decals are from Hobby Design and paint will be from Gravity Colors. See you all Saturday.

I've done a minimal amount of work on my project. It got boxed up and set aside for a couple other builds Im trying to clean up. Also I re-arranged my building area in an effort to stream line my mess so once I have all that sorted I plan on getting back to my Skyline project. I'm hoping to get started after Le Mans weekend. By then I should have a couple things finished up and can get back to this build. Loving the work everyone is doing. Keep it up. And I'll try to catch up.

Yep it's all about licencing. Toyota wouldn't grant it to Revell. Yet diecast companies are making the same cars in 1/24. Toyota wants it done by Tamiya. They have a partnership with them already for the JCGT cars. Im sure Tamiya wont simply because they wont sell outside of NA or not enough to make Tamiya want to invest. It's the same with the licencing for Goodyear. Goodyear likely wants too much $$ per kit to allow their brand to be on the kits so Revell left them off. Eventhough I'm not a huge NASCAR guy, I'd still like to see a Toyota kit to go with the Ford's and Chevy's. Maybe once Toyota switches to the Supra Tamiya will be more interested.

Hobby Design quality is usually very good. Yes you get flash sometimes, like Chris said, but its usually minimal and in spots where its not seen or it very easy to clean up. I have a dozen or so sets of HD wheels and never have had one not be round. The only issue I've ever had is that the casting on the wheel spokes is very thin and can be fragile so dont push on the spokes to get the wheel in or out of the tire while test fitting. Do you have a pic of all the packaging and any instructions? I just got some HD seats in the mail this week and they're perfect, so it's possible you got recasts. Also what's the vendor's name you bought off of from Ebay?

Chris is a great guy. I've been buying stuff here and there from him since last year. He just celebrated his 1st anniversary of his online store. And yes, Chris pretty much gets items out same day or next day. Follow him on FB as he does do large pre-orders from HD and MFH so if he doesnt have it instock he may be getting it shortly. He response super quick to FB messages for those that use it and I'm sure he's quick with regular emails as well. New guy working hard to expand and make his customer base happy. Thanks Chris.

Looking forward to this Ismael. I've got the decals in the stash to do one of these too. And Ron is a really nice guy. I've met him a couple times at Mosport (now Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) during the ALMS weekends. Always made time to chat, him and Johnny O'Connell. I'm watching for updates.

I placed my order early last Tuesday morning (May 8th), my order was filled and shipped out with the post on Wednesday night. I received it here in Canada on Tuesday morning. If you still have an outstanding order I'd go through Paypal or your CC company for a refund. No idea why past orders haven't been filled yet. I love the paint, but the CS this year have been terrible as many have stated. Hopefully they can turn things around. Good luck.
