You doubt the molds are still around ? Where have you been the last twenty years or so? This has to be the greatest Urban myth of the modeling hobby. Did you miss the train wreck ? Now to your "Blow Out at the discount store" name a kit that hasn't been blown out once they were past their prime. I think most kits at one time or another have found their way to the "blow out : table. Did I tell you the story of the $20 Pocher kits at K Mart? Your Hudson kits will end up there sooner or later. Who would have thought Revell would be "Blowing out" the last of the AM Grand Sport Corvettes?

as are most of these kits, mear toys in my opinion. If someone is going to take the time and effort to "clone" something , why not the Racing Scenes from Aurora ?

So ya gotta wonder about all the wisdom being thrown about on this thread. Let's just take for example the Revell's Kurtis Midget kits,where they spent well over 10 years in development and it was only issued once ? Do the math.

Right off I can come up with a few. My favorite would have to be the bygone (train wreck ya right) AURORA MODEL RACING SCENES. Then for Big HEMI's Revell's got ya covered. AMT had a few Chevy V-8's in their Tri-Five series, but I think they were down in the detail department. Something coming up (already out) is the old Lindberg Bullhorn Tee Bucket kit.

Ok, so they are having trouble getting out new stuff and yet they fool around with stuff like this ? Orange ,yellow, red ? Just shoot us some white or gray. We know they can't do clear very well.

WOW! That really pops out at ya, so do the seam lines you left on the headers. Really nice build though, just goes to show you can build something out of a sowes ear.

This is all so unbelievable in so many different ways. First we have all the experts ,people in the industry (?) people in the periphery of the industry, people that think they are in the industry, anyone here actually work for a model company with a hands on kind of job other than in the warehouse, at the counter of the local hobby shop? then the hard to fathom opinions that todays technology just doesn't stand up to the craftsmen of yesterday. In the days of yore almost everything was done by hand, drawings, mock ups large scale models of each piece, pantograph rescaling to what ever scale the box was Todays computer programing, CNC's, better metallurgy, you name it space age technology ( remember that ? we went to the moon in what ? 1969 ) and it takes longer, more money and they still can't get things right ? Too many excuses. Look at any industry and you will see improvements, ideas moving into the future (i.e. 3D printing)
