AMT 50 Ford convertible engine

I would like to have been able to do something with the body so I could make it look better but my hands were tied on this project. It's kind of crude but I kind of like it.

AMT 50 Ford convertible engine
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Found a unopened 50 kit locally. -
Fresh out of the attic where it's been since the late 70s,not sure what I am going to do with it and depends if I can get it apart without breaking anything. Two piece tires will definitely be going in the trash and looks like it's been repainted at least once.

AMT 50 Ford convertible engine

The 49 the engine will be going in is a original 60s kit so it does not need to be the newer version. -
AMT 50 Ford convertible engine

I am going to buy a 50 convertible kit to.get the engine,I have no problem with using the metal.axle since that is the way the kit was designed, the 49 is going to be built as a shine hauler before the OHV engines. I will then have a 50 to build.and will build it stock using some parts from the 49. -

I will still need the axle hole as the 49 kit I am using is from the 60s or just grab the speed parts and put them on the 49 block. Looks like I will have to grab a complete kit as I did not see just a engine on eBay. -
It's just a quick build out of parts I had laying around, unfortunately the body is a little rough and could not be taken apart due to excessive glue. With some help on here I received a fender assembly with matching patina and looks like it was built many years ago,the body came close to being thrown in the trash but it's back together again.

junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Years ago I thought I seen a mid 50s Ford F800 big job can and fenders being made,I have a Few 53 F100 and mid 50s Chevy cabs and interiors that can donate parts -
Does anyone know if any mid 50s Ford and GM big truck can and fenders are being made,I have some semi frames and suspension and would like to build some old big trucks.

Anybody ever build one of these
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Two more to finish before I can get to it,still do not know what engine to use but leaning towards the DeSoto hemi from the 53 F 100 kit. -
They arrived today and very happy, matches the patina on the body.

It's going to be far from perfect but will still look like it was built in the 60s.

Unfortunately there are dents on the roof from too much glue with the windows so I am going to leave it as it is,I would have liked to get it apart to do more detail but the interior is really glued in.and almost got thrown in the trash as it would have broken trying to get it apart. Did not have the heart to trash since it's 60 years old so it's going back together as found, the numbers on the doors are not the correct class as I am building it but it's going to stay.
