Dayton Ohio show finds
junkyardjeff replied to thatz4u's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found this Revell caddy from the 50s,not sure what I am going to do with it but could not pass it up for 3 dollars -
Almost finished and went with a flathead and will use the Y block for the 40 standard sedan delivery which is coming up next.
-
I wish I would have checked this out sooner but I was gluing the cab to the chassis and the motor hit the firewall and it stuck up too far in the front so I had to take the six out and getting a V8 ready to go in so anyone else run into this problem,I did not have the firewall in when I mocked it up and will try to find something else to put the six in.
-
I like the 40s but time for a different year, going to get some putty this weekend and see if I can get where the roof meets smoothed out.
-
-
I was trying to find another body but going to build this one as a beater hotrod from the late 50s or early 60s,its going to have a stock looking body but with different bumpers. Might make some nerf bars or smoothed 40 bumpers.
-
Started on it over a year ago and had problems with paint and came close to using it for parts, rims are from my last order from Modelhaus and it took close to a year of soaking to get all the paint I put on it off.
-
Got my Modelhaus order today

One year and 4 months to get it,I kind of forgot about it until they called. -
I am very happy now

I wonder if I can post his name and address on here. -
Its glued togather except for the chassis since now that a hobby shop opened up that sells parts I am still going to see if I can find the suspension from the 90s kit.
-
Last year a small hobby shop closed where I used to get my parts from but it has reopened and came home with 3 bags of AMT 40 Ford parts and enough parts to build a standard version of the sedan delivery, now that I can get parts and not have to get them from ebay has made me very happy and the madness can continue.
-
I am starting to glue it back togather and leave it as a 70s hotrod.
-
I messed up the rims so I have to get another can of paint since it took it all to paint it,those Tamiya cans are not that big.
-
It has color and not sure when it will be assembled since I still have a bunch of stuff to do in the garage and yard,I took advantage of nice weather to,paint outside.

I broke with tradition on the last 40 and installed mag wheels for a late 60s/early 70s look but back to regular programming on this one.

Still waiting on the hubcaps I ordered from Modelhaus before they shut down the website. -
I am thinking maroon with a tan interior.
-
This is going to be the last of the pieced togather builds for awhile, this one is going to look like someone took a stock 40 and installed a 57 T bird 312 back in 57 and lowered it a little in front. Its typical of how I build my 40s as I like the sleeper look.
-
As soon as I finish a 40 ford coupe I will decide if the wheels and tires stay,I do build a bunch as 50s hotrods so maybe a 70s era hotrod will be ok.
-
Kind of forgot about this one and thinking about just cleaning it up and putting it back togather.
-
Its been many years since I built one and see they have been released, the one I built back in the 70s could not have been made 100 percent stock and was wondering if the newer versions can. I have a couple 216 motors from AMT kits I will be using for the motor but might have to come up with more stock looking rims if they do not come with them.
