All I could find was a bottle of Ford/GM blue which is too dark so I am going to use Chrysler blue since its closer.

Due to the rain this week I got alot done so it has not ended yet but the days are numbered,I finished the 50 Olds and want to finish two restorations before I officially quit building for the year.

I picked up a built AMT 68 Elcamino so anybody know if a base Chevelle hood is made since I want to build this Elcamino as a base model.

I have one I built back in 74 that needs to be restored and you got me thinking about a 40 ford coupe trunk lid on one.

I built one back in 79 and restored it about 10 years ago.

I am finishing up the restoration of the MPC late 70s Chevy p/u stepside and would like to paint the motor the color it would have been from the factory,were they kind of a dull blue.

Using 49 and 50 parts I am building a 49 convertible like my dad had in the early to mid 50s,from what I can tell from the old color pictures it was a pea green with a maroon interior and not sure on the top so it will match the interior. It will not be the best build since I am building it with very used parts and have been collecting parts for about 10 years but it got paint tonight. Its not exactly pea green but close enough and will have a built flathead like my dad had for about a year but yanked it because it used too much gas.

Not much happening with it right now since I am now working in the garage and yard but will find time to finish it on rainy days.

I bought a couple parts from PJ toys a few years ago but it seems like the prices have went up a bit since then,I tried to buy a hood I really needed a couple months ago but could not complete the transaction because I was not set up for instant credit card purchases so I do not even look there now. I have a local hobby shop that sells parts and parts kits so I go there now and not ebay.

Its based off the 5 window coupe kit with the convertible parts from the 60s,it has 40 bumpers and the flipper hubcaps from the sedan delivery kit and will get more pictures when I feel better.

Too nice outside now so nothing going on in the basement but a cold front is coming with more rain and will be colder so I will be in the basement next week,got most of what I need to do so maybe I can finish two models before it stays warm.

I wish it was not ending for me as I have been thinking about how to build the 36 Ford coupe but it will be there waiting for me.

I should get them all painted during the summer months since my basement gets a little damp in the winter and hard to paint and assemble during the winter.

I think I am going to like it.

My modeling season will probably expand when I retire but I still have over 10 years unless I hit the lottery.

I wondered if I should do it but I never built one of these AMT 36s before

That looks great.I recently learned about the metal falling apart and hope none of mine do that now that they do not make them and doubt the lifetime warranty still applies.

It has paint,its a dark maroon.

I have decided to get all the models I started in color so they can be assembled over the summer.

Its not quite over just yet as its raining and will be for most of the weekend so I will be in the basement trying to finish the Chevy stepside,after mid april I will be in the garage much more.

I do a little modeling during the warmer months but the outside activities take top priority.
