Kenworth rebuild
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Did some more digging in the box and found more parts missing,it fell on the basement floor and I would think I would have seen all the parts but there are a couple still hiding. -
When my uncle built them I just thought they were the neatest thing looking through 4 year old eyes.

AMT Lug Bug wheels and tires

I do not ever remember seeing that kit,the slicks look to be the normal big slicks of the early to mid 70s kits and if they are the two piece type I just used a set on my mustang gasser project. -
Kenworth rebuild

It came completely apart when it hit the ground and I still had the instructions,I also found some parts that were never installed that helps a bunch since it will now be completely built. Now if I could only find a V12 Detroit to stuff in it. -

Is the car a recreation as I thought the original was buried somewhere on their property -
This kit was bought to use as a donor for the chassis to convert a Orange Blossom special 37 Chevy pulling truck to a street truck but gave up so its going to be built as a 41,was going to keep it powered by a six but stuck in a smallblock Mopar that I had in stock.
-
It was built but sat on a shelf in the basement for over 20 years since I had no room any place else until a cat knocked it off and into pieces, the only part that was damaged was the sleeper so it got tossed so I shortened the frame and made it a day cab. I do not know when it will be finished since I have plenty of others to work on first but it was saved and not tossed in the trash

My uncle built these two big deuces and big tub back in the mid 60s,I was wanting to do some changes to one 32 but since they are the only things I have left that were his I will just leave them alone. They are a little dirty but I do not touch them much.

34 Ford big truck
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I am also working on a trailer but have not gotten too far on it. -
It started life as a AMT p/u that I had made it as a beater dump truck but the dump bed did not look right so I made it into a road tractor, did have the original flathead but recently found the optional FE motor and tried to make it look like a late 50s motor. Still need to find headlight parts and some exhaust manifolds.

I am glad some kits are being reissued so I can afford to build one,I will not pay much more then 25 dollars for a kit and I have bought some parts off ebay for kits that are not in production since I did not want to wait for possibly years to find parts cheaper. I am lucky to have a new hobby shop that opened up this year that I can get parts so I do not buy much parts off ebay now.

Found a 68/9 Torino interior tub to cut up and will post pics when it starts looking like something.
-
Its also going to get more of a interior when I can find a 67/68 mustang interior tub to cut up.
-
Its starting to look like a car and since i do not have the complete motor it came with I have a 2 4 bbl 351-C that might be going in.
-
I have a later version that was molded in black that I need to finish,I got it for parts for the one I built but after finding a new chassis I decided to save the other one. I started to assemble it with a 427 SOHC Ford motor but I need it for a gasser mustang project so I think it will get a blown hemi or the dual quad 401 nailhead.
-
I decided it would look better as a 50s style hotrod and instead of the Pontiac motor made to look like a Chevy it got a Desoto hemi, this kit is based of the early 60s coupe/convertible kit and I used the convertible parts on them.
-
I took a DM stock 40 body and stuck it on the hotrod chassis,I did not like what they done to the hotrod body so instead of changing it I stock the stock body since I think they are great the way they came. I was hoping to get it as low as it was as the hotrod but found out they modified the hotrod interior so the frame would sit higher in the body but it looks good to me.
-
I have never seen one.
-
The front suspension I put on it is too wide so I found another axle that is a little narrower that will be going on but I need to redo the front of the frame first,I can not stand the front tires to stick outside the fenders.
