The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Joe Handley replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I kinda have to agree with Harry here, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a number of smaller cars and trucks that would tolerate kind of wreck (although I am amazed the one car got that far off the ground in the wreck, must have been running nearly triple digit speeds!), especially not knowing how much speed that semi was carrying into the scene of the accident. -
Good that you guys are getting some help there, that has to be horrible.

Nice Charger! X2!!!! That Revell kit would make an excellent starting point for a '70 Charger if Revell wanted to tool one up, maybe even make the door scoops separate pieces and tool up a 6-Pack intake for it so it's easier to build anything from a lowly /6 to a rampaging elephant car using existing parts.....hint, hint, hint

Rachel Maddow covered that for a while on her MSNBC show.

Honestly, that hill isn't bad. Check out some of the videos from when Jeep puts on a ride experience at an auto show, the hill climb makes that look like a speed bump. -
A couple months back I put a R/C truck on Layaway and payed that off today! First new R/C I've been able to afford in a few years, last "new" one was actually mostly built from spare, used, or repurposed parts that I stuck together on a whim. Here's the new one with another "repurposed parts" truck that some of you are already familiar with.

Political Correctness doesn't have much to do with this outside of those who are thought to be the deviants in question aren't as likely to be drug into the streets and beat by some wanna-be posse for just being suspected any more.........Now it's all done via social media instead and to hurt reputations instead of causing physical injuries that could lead to jail time.

Lol, that reaction would havs been worth the price of a year's membership!

You'd be more likely to find them in places like Toy Stores. One of the reasons I hated running register at Toy's "R" Us was that we had to ask everybody their phone numbers to start the transaction. The answers ranged from ok and getting "a number" (never sure if they were real), to not today, to "NO! YOU'RE JUST GOING TO SELL IT TO BILL CLINTON!!!!" (yes, that one actually happened to a kid I worked there with!), but my concern was the if there was a lone guy in line behind and could hear the parent giving the number, they could use that to track their next victim via phone book.

Got infront of somebody who put HID's on his stripper Nissan Versa and was pretty much blinded for a couple miles, then when I did move into a turnlane and the car went past, it also had blacked out tail lights!

Was it referring to the material the belts were made from, or a device attached to the reel or latch? Def Leapard's drummer lost his arm nearly 30 years ago in a nasty wreck because of a seatbelt and I seem to remember hearing about how if you have your seatbelt around your gut instead of over your hips when you wreck, that can cause a number of internal injuries since there are no bones in thar area to support you in a violent wreck (like an Explorer rolling over).

Sooooo happy I wasn't drinking anything when I read that

Palm of hand, no, into tips of fingers............yes. Don't get me started on soldering either, I tend to hold pens and pencils near the tip with my left hand. Let me tell you, it's difficult to bowl even 24hrs after trying to hold a very hot 25 wattt soldering iron like that..........didn't know my bowling ability could get any worse until then either

My kid sister worked for one not too far from you Harry, IIRC, the constant religious music got tiresome (although the Muzak part was probably more offensive...to me anyway ) Other than being closed Sundays and that Religious Muzak, at the time they weren't really shoving their religion down employee's throats, they did have books on the family's faith and it's involvement in the business for sale at the checkout. Never had anybody try to Exorcise any of us, although the reason my sister left was a crazy woman that did ot like her what so ever and had a tendancy toward acting out fairly violently in picture framing department they both worked in. There were attempts to get her punished for her actions until employees noticed she spent way more time in the office with the store manager that she should have. Mom even called corporate to complain a out this woman and when she got the brush-off from the person on the phone about it, she said something to the effect of "I thought this was a religious company?!", the woman on the phone just laughed at Mom. My sister still shops there, ut between this and their current actions, I won't anymore.

Problem here isn't modeler, it's the perception of the modeler by the general public, and generally speaking..........the general plublic can be complete and utter ignorant idiots.

I sent an email to a R/C parts company Monday night nicely asking if they knew if the outter ring of their 2 stage memory foam tire inserts for rock crawlers were glued together and if they could be used with their short course wheels and tires for an upcoming R/C project I've got in the wings while providing the specific part numbers for the wheels, tires, and foam inserts in the email........................ The reposnse I got today said that the foams that come with the tires I plan on buying are stiffer than the ones I asked if the two pieces were glued together and if the outter portion was similar in snape to the foams that come with the tires I plan in using..........kinda knew that already, so I didn't need to waste their time to ask the unasked question they answered as crawler foams tend to be much softer than go fast foams in any go fast application

Lol, that factory one in my Jeep was on it's out for about a year and when it finally gave it up for good, I was leaving for work, so Dad took me in and picked up a new starter on the way home so he could swap it out while I was working. Apparently when he pulled the factory part out from under it and got it in the daylight, the solenoid was covered in semi-circular dents from me beating the tar out of it with the flat end of that hammer.

The Shadow I had was like that. When we figured it out, instead of swapping the part, I kept a ratchet drive with an extention and socket that matched the bolt on the lower pulley in the car, would turn turn wheels full right lock, and put the socked on that bolt and turn it over until I got to a spot with plenty of teeth left. Worked well until I got too lazy to do that much and started to pop the hood, pull the alternator belt towards me, which pulled the engine around just enough in the process to bring the good teeth to the starter. Had a couple coworkers consider the socket and ratchet driver trick "some serious Jedi.....aahhhh....stuff!" Just image how blown their minds would have been by me just pulling on the Alternator belt or when I would take my ball peen hammer to the Jeep's factory starter when it started going bad

I don't mind the occasional small store that specializes on it, it's not that far off of a hobby shop or a craft store so much as I do big stores trying to stretch Christmas season all the way back to July 4th.
