I grew up with those (my folks bought a '78 and an '87 Beauville new and just scrapped the '87 back in '08) and I always thought that the AMT's looked about right. I showed that picture to my Dad and he didn't think the Revell kit looked all that right either, but all the custom goodies might help hide what doesn't look right. They were pretty rounded, especially in comparison to the Ecnolines l, the flat nose vans that came before and body on frame onesnthat have come since.

Fire At Woodland Scenics facility
Joe Handley replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's not good, but at least they all got out ok! Last time I went to the Museum of Science and Industry I got to talk to one of the guys that maintains their layout and found out that they used a ton of Woodland Scenics products in the construction and maintenence of that layout. Sudenly I'm beginning to wonder if we're going to have a run on their product at work, I hope Walthers, Great Planes, and Horizon are well stocked! -
With any luck it will come with the steelies and dog dishes, 5 spoke wheels like the box art and the A-Team turbines! With the exception of leaving out Mr. T and cleaning up the body tool, they could just do a straight parts or parts reissue of the A-Team van with that this kit's decal sheet and I would be happy. It would be nice to see this kit come back with all of the optional parts they offered over the years in one big box and an expanded decal sheet

No Polution, None !
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Beats me, I have heard of wrecked Chevy Volts catching fire post wreck, but unlike fuel burners, they tend to give the fire and rescue guys a couple days to get people out of the car when they wreck them that bad! Now that I think of it, I wonder how well a compressed air-electric hybrid would do in comparison to a gas-electric or diesel-electric hybrid................ -
No Polution, None !
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, while the vehicle will be polution free, compressing the air to fill those tanks will require electricity or some form of combustable fuel to operate the compressors. Fire shouldn't be a problem since there is no fuel in the tanks.................now if there is a possibility of an electrical failure and related fire.............0_o -
I gotta agree, hAven't seen a winter this mild in atleast a decade, heck, I've got a fleece pullover that has been worn maybe a dozen times since October!

Insane Driving skills
Joe Handley replied to 1320wayne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've talked to a couple guys that have them. One guy has back problems and they're the only shoe he can comfortably wear and the other is a cross athlete who is working on becoming an EMS. The big thing is it use them in the right terrain, the second guy found for all terrain running that they didn't provide the correct support over rocks and such (which I have had kill shoes while just walking over) but worked well for most other surfaces and he'd even lift while wearing them! -

Wheel & tire question and rant!
Joe Handley replied to bigphoto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What kind of off roading though? Going to a larger diameter rim when upping tire size should allow for larger brakes (with bigger tires, bigger brakes should be a must), better sidewall stability in off camber situations, more control in case of a blow out, and quite frankly, won't look as stupid as a giant tire around a tiny rim.
