Actually, the A-Team kits (as well as most of the 1/1's) were also sliding door vans, not sure why they got rid of the ribs, unless the 1/1 pre-'78 vans were also lacking in ribs too. Our '87 and the neighbor's '85 both had the side ribs and I'm pretty sure our '78 also had the side ribs (but different side trim) and all three had roof ribs.
I'd have no problem driving a car like the Volt on a daily basis, could get away with only running on electricity for daily use and just plug it in to top off the pack every night with the slow charger (which would be better for the pack anyway.) A Hemi Challenger would be nice to have as a play thing, but probably would be just as useless as a typical hybrid in really bad weather....which my Jeep would shine in compared to those
Wayne, if the insurance on that was in any way comparable to what my '85 Lebaron Turbo cost me when I first got it ay the age of 18, I couldn't blame you! Luckily I didn't need to pay full coverage on that car, liability cost me $1900/yr to start, then dropped down to $1500/yr after I turned 19........if I had gotten full coverage it would have been $3200/yr, and I only paid $2300 for it
I bought it because of all the kustom goodies in the kit (the reel to reel definately reviels the kit's age though) and it being a vintage kit that I couldn't afford if it were closer to being new.
Problem around here isn't just the weather, it's the massive amounts of salt used to combat ice on top of it. Somehow my '98 XJ has stayed amazingly solid so far (I just finally noticed what looks like the beginings of rust bubbles in the rockers this summer) but the '90 Dad and the '92 my Sister had werein horrible shape when they were scrapped, you could see inside the rockers and the quarters would let sunlight through.
Unless the Bears are stomping the Packers, I could care less.........unfortunetly, I work with two and we now have a TV with cable at the back of the store that football gets watched on........wonder if I can watch NASCAR or ALMS at work this summer then
