Good luck to our northern neighbors
Joe Handley replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Somebody posted this on RCCrawler.com last night.....it's pretty accurate And on to the pics............. Here's our front yard, like I said, I'm going nowhere! and the Neighbor's Dad's Ranger, I had been parked by it when I got home last night and that drift behind it was nearly a foot at 11pm last night when I was finally able to park in the back yard after 11pm Here's the back of my Jeep and my Sister's Charger, keep in mind the bottom of my back bumper is is well over a foot off the ground And a couple more of my back yard, keep in mind that the fence is around 6ft tall or so and that giant pile in the second pic is what Dad put there with the snow blower -

IIRC the people I work for now had an order for a case or two of them when those Edsels came out, I remember seeing them behind the counter and being told that they were a special order for a local Edsel Owners Club when I expressed interest for one of them.

Before I forget, or get legitimately sick......... The parking lot at work just after 6:00pm, anybody who'd been to the store should recognize the view and one shot out the back door shortly there after. Don't let the bare spots fool you, that snow between the Honda and my Jeep was around ankle deep! The silver Honda got stuck and I ended up having to push it out when we left, I just powered through the same drift when I left a a few minutes later. Here's North Ave. and Rte. 59 in West Chicago. And Main Street, it was so dead that I actually stopped to take the pic and didn't cause a problem doing so! -

I've heard North Ave is about the only road that isn't a parking lot so far from the customers that have stopped in and Dad warned me not to get stuck on the way home tonight.....everything else we own would get stuck long before it gets to where ever I'd get stuck at -

Well, here's down town West Chicago as of 11:30 tonight, should do the same tomorrow night for a comparison too. Since I posted this, Dad told me he's heard that there might be as much as 30" by the time this is all done........he wished me luck on my way home form work tomorrow already -

One of my co-workers also works for the county and has already called off for this entire week and may be lucky to go home in that length of time, they've already set up cots at his garage for the guys to come back to and sleep in between shifts, and the place was a media madhouse by 3pm this afternoon too! I also just talked to a customer who told me one of the 4 lane roads (Kirk Rd for the locals on here) near the store is already drifted over. -

A co-worker and I had both thought about doing builds for this contest until he read the portion of the rules that excludes hobby shop employees -

I'll wait for somebody to make a kit of the Volt -
I'm digging the three spokers and mesh wheels!
-
I love the build, but I'm not sure about the wheels, the baby moons and white walls just don't look right and I'm just not a fan of those Nike wheels on anything. How about the new ZR1 Vette wheels?
-
I don't know about that, there used to be part numbers for those kits in the old computer system at the HTU I work for. I'll have to look tomorrow and see if they're still in the current system. As for the movie Cars, I still love that movie, as does my kid sister, both of us are adults without kids

OK, that's weird! I was looking at mine last night thinking that the deck lid and taillight surrounds would make a neat looking tonneau and lined up nicely with the seat backs. I do like how the stock bumper looks on that artwork and your build too, seems to fit the appearance better than the roll pan and grill. I have to do a different color though, pastels aren't my thing I'm getting a new few ideas for mine from these pics!

Thanks Harold, looks as if those little pieces of flash need to be cut out for both the bumper and pan.
-
Got a question for you Harold, I noticed a small flash like section of plastic towards the insides of the tail light hoops where the trunk dips down to meet the rear bumper that looks like it should be cut out but doesn't say to do so in the instructions and interferes with the fit of both the centers of the stock bumper and the roll pan Am I right in thinking that those little bits of styrene need to be cut out?

Well, I usually a tinker with a few kits here and there, not really doing much other than the fiddly pre-paint stuff on them. Now on occasion I get a bug and throw together something simple (usually the Revell snappers or that AMT Challenger I built last fall) but hopefully cool and different looking. Between work (although that didn't stop the Challenger), weather (I live in the Chicago Burbs), other hobbies, and the internet (spend way too much time on that ) I don't get much styrene work done
