Hmmm, Chrysler 200
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Must be semantics then, to me all of those are the same car underneath as well as the Aries/Reliant, Daytona/Lazer, Acclaim/Spirit/Lebaron, and Lebaron Convertible with a few tweaks here and there to work for the differences in the size and class of the car. Really no different than the Fox Body Mustang/LTD/Fairmont/Zephyr, T-Bird/Cougar/Mark 7, or the mid size Mopars, Chargers, and to some extent Challenger/Cuda are the same car underneath. -
A co-worker's family inherited this from a relative who supposedly paid around $2200 for it nearly 20 years back. They think there might be only two in existence and the other one is supposed to be in a museum. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v698/bjoehandley/Byrons%20Mystery%20Car/ Anybody have a clue as to what it is and how much it might be worth?

Hmmm, Chrysler 200
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll be honest Michelle, I like the roof line on this car, it finally fits with the rest of the car as well as the long nose, short tail appearance. If the Sebring was styled more like this instead of that hideous Crossfire like styling (espcially those stupid hood ribs!)it has. In some ways the over all silhouette kinda reminds me of my old Lebaron GTS, minus the hatch back..... I can't quite agree with that Jamez, the above mentioned Lebaron GTS and the Shadow I owned were different lengths, widths, and behaved differently, but they had many parts underneath that were pretty much directly interchangeable as well as a number of under hood parts even though they were 3 years apart in age with different EFI and induction systems? -
Thanks Charlie! It's funny how you mention the custom color thing though. A couple months back my kid sister (who currently owns a 3.5 V-6 Charger ) got a message from Dodge via Facebook about the Furious Fuchsia Challengers and had gotten into a conversation with another member of our gym who recently bought a SRT8 Charger Super Bee (which is nearly identical to the Lindberg Box Art car ) about this message and how she wanted one now. I mentioned to him Monday or Tuesday about the HTU Model Contest so he brought by a Tamiya Supra (very nicely done, BTW!) for the contest. After seeing the above Challenger, he decided to buy the Revell SRT8 kit and paint it that pearl pink from the One Coat line to see how well it will turn out for him!

OK guys, It's done and has a completed thread! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36682

Thanks Rob!

Well Guys, I actually finished one......and in barely over one week's time I decided when I first bought it to eliminate the 1/4 glass then as I was doing the initial paint work to leave out the hood scoop grills and foil the car in a way to make it look more like the '70 Challengers than these already do. Now I may have to pick up that Revell 1/25 '70 Challenger to build as a compliment to this one

Hmmm, Chrysler 200

IIRC, Mark did work for Chrysler at one time in the recent past, I'd say that makes his info is pretty good if that's so -
Here's a couple interior shots It's done, look for full pics in Under Glass tomorrow
-
Lol, I tried today and didn't get near as much done as I would have liked to, so I'm going to stick around some now that we're closed and try to finish it right now Thanks for the pics Mark, but that's one area that won't be quite stock on these cars, and you'll see why once I post up the completion pics. Thanks Mike!

Don't have any new pics, but the car is coming together nicely, I should have it done tonight and ready for tomorrow

Interests outside of model cars?
Joe Handley replied to Hattley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
RC's, forum surfing, I've gotten into weight lifting some, that's about it -

Looks great, what did you use to darken the chrome on the rims?

out of the box builds
Joe Handley replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yea, even the snap kits I've built have had the occasional tweak here or there have been like that. The AMT 2009 Challenger R/T I'm working on right now is going to have a few slight, very simple, and no putty required tweaks to make it look a weee bit more like a '70 Challenger than the car already does. -
And don't forget Dinozo's ZR1 and Mustang, McGee's Porsche, Ziva's Mini, and the Black SRT8 Challenger from NCIS:LA

2011 Dodge Charger
Joe Handley replied to made007's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To be honest, I'd take one of those Chargers long before I'd buy the mid-late 70's B-Body Chargers. I really don't care if the current car a 4dr instead of a 2dr, I tend to think that unless they're hatchbacks (technically making them a 3dr I know), 2dr cars are pretty much useless in comparison to a 4dr. I do think that the upcoming model's cosmetic changes pretty much fix much of what I didn't like about the '05-'10 model and that it does look much better than the one it replaces. -
I'd be surprised if they didn't have a few of all the main vehicles laying around where ever the shoot is taking place in any car intensive production, I've read that was the case even with shows like 90210's EV1 and '58 Vette I do think it will be interesting to see what happens with this investigation and if; a. There was some miss communication between all involved parties. b. They knew that officer was coming and decided to shoot the scene anyway while using him flying through to their advantage, which obviously came back to bite them hard!. c. That particular officer has the attitude of "I've got a badge and I'll go where ever I feel like!" and that came back to bite him hard! d. All of what's found in the investigation is never released. e. The truly guilty party (on which ever side) get's a well hidden slap on the wrist while the more innocent party gets thrown under the media circus bus as the villain of the incident

Real or Model #150 FINISHED!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I seem to remember a model of one being sold a couple decades ago and this picture was used in the advertising, but I can't remember which one it is for sure....I'm thinking this was the actual car in that pic. -
Car's coming along nicely, just have to detail brush paint the smaller places, apply the stock decals, foil the stuff I'll be foiling, and it'll be done!
-
That's where I'm going with this one Charlie.

Is is when we get the chance, this car has been more of a "got a couple spare minutes" type build where I ran out and shot the colors during lulls in customer flow. The one I work for is in St. Charles, and there used to be one by the Fox Valley Mall that I worked at for a while until it closed a couple years back. Went and got the body from the store today and quickly mocked it together for these pics when I got home.

I wondered what happened to that build.........
