  2. Yup, that mirror looks like one piece of something and chrome platted, usually the glass is pretty obviously separate from the rest off the mirror assembly. Thw woodgrain and gauges just don't look "right" to me either.
  3. I'm going to say model, probably a Poacher of something along those lines.
  4. Wow, I've wasted money in my day, but that's nearly tops the list of dumb things to pay that much money for!
  5. Was that '59 a cover car at some point? It looks kinda familiar.
  6. Wow, incredible builds Bruno!
  7. Hehe, that's far nicer than what Dad has to say about getting old....but I can't exactly repeat that on here either since this is a family forum I'll never forget helping him on our old F/S Chevy Van when I was in highschool and he had to pull the steering column apart to tighten the screws that were coming loose in it and half the time he was complaining about the bifocals being more of a nusense while trying to see under the dash in the dark while working by flashlights.
  8. You're right, that does sound good Dang it, now I'm hungry Beautiful work Gramps, now I just have to wait till I work with the same kid again to show him how it turned out!
  9. Just showed the hood to a couple co-workers, one of them thought it was for a real car!
  10. I started building this back in '95 or '96 and it got put away, it's AMT's '64 Impala with the chassis from the '62 BelAir, TPI form Monograms Monte Carlo SS, and wheels from Aoshima, guess it's was going to be a little ahead of it's time
  11. IIRC the stock trim was going to stay, but I was thinking about the stock "skirts" and the kit's Baby Moons with hand painted wide whites. I have been thinking of Flaming Orange, Ice Blue or Pearl White on this one too....maybe both with the blue on top. I did have a co-worker suggest putting Electric Pink on the upper half, but I don't think that will happen
  12. Don't even want to think of how many I've had that happen to, usually it's some kind of custom that I botched in some way and can't think of a way out of it other than make it a parts kit. The chopped '49 Merc that's posted in "On the Workbench" is one of them because of an issue with the plastic's reaction to excessive amounts of that putty being applied. I got frustrated and put it away hoping that the plastic would re-solidify to the point it could be saned again.......and forgot about it until yesterday
  13. For me it's the front side marker and trim (too big and well defined) and the hydrolic piston for the D/S door.
  14. Thanks guys, I appreciate the good words! It looked like the plastic has stabilized enough that I can now start sanding it again. Been trying to remember what I was doing for the window openings, I'm thinking I was going to glue in some strip over the top portion as a bit of a flair over the top of the opening (kinda like making a fender flare, if that makes sense ) With any luck this will be a bit of a head scratcher once the primer is on it and the surgical scars are covered since the pillars aren't technically cut down at all Anybody else think that some of the new Model Master and Testor's lacquers would look really good on this car too?
  15. I found this AMT Merc that I started chopping a few years back and put away when the chemicals in Squadron Green Putty turned the roof and windshield opening to rubber when I put too much on without realising that would happen. What I did is chop the part of the roof that is directly above windshield then cut the body above and below the C-Pillar and back window then leaned the whole roof forward, which required removing the B-Pillar as well. Thought I'd take pics of it after findind it while looking for kits to get rid of and post them here to see what you guys though. What do you guys think?
  16. Real, but that left rear looks really screwed up
  17. I've seen the 1/16 Traxxas stuff run and would love to get my mits on one of the Mini-E-Revo's but I've been working on getting my Losi Comp Crawler running and my Axial AX10 that I was competing with swapped over onto a SCX10 chassis, so what little money I've had to spend lately are going into those. I ran the LCC at the SCRC comp at Illinois State Beach Park in Zion, IL a couple weeks back and tied with another LCC owner for 4th place. Amazing part was both trucks were being run in their first comps, on a difficult course (sand and rock not dirt or clay) that neither one of us (as well as about 90% of the competitors there) ever ran before. Here's the two trucks; Here's the Axial, it's eventually going to be getting one of the HPI Wrangler Rubicon bodies And here's an early pic of the Losi, I've since swapped over to Losi's Rock Carver Tires with memory foams up front and added about 17oz of weights to the rims (10 up front and 7 out back) and a Trinity Monster Maxx 21t 550 motor.
  18. Those look alot like the "Fitipaldi" rims that the Stealth R/T kits from AMT came with too.
  19. CRIPES! Good thing he had on a helmet
  20. Hmmmm................Rust, Natures own Lightening Holes! Cool build!
  21. Nice, looks like one quick little grocery getter!
  22. Considering how tall Obama is, that should give that limo at least the same roof height as an unlifted Jeep Cherokee like mine if not more
  23. We've had a few engines come in like that, especially the early 2.5's, but this it the first one I've seen where the rod actually split on the wrist pin and punched through the top of the piston.
  24. Why not, I've seen a Ford Festiva R/T with VTEC and a Grand Caravan Sport Si
