I thought it was a vintage publicity pic of Harry P. back when he was supporting his college education with those ... uh ... special kind of movies.

Looking good, Ray!

First: My 1974 Charger, this color, with American Racing Wire Mags. Beautiful car, great to drive. (Not my car, not my plate.) Second: While a DJ at KEYN, we had a '67 Dodge Charger "mobile unit," white with red & blue stripes and lots of graphics. We drove all over Wichita and SE Kansas, giving away Walter's Beer and promo items, concert tickets, albums, etc. It was a blast! The car had "Mobile Unit 3" painted on one side and "Mobile Unit 4" painted on the other. People always swore up and down we had four matching Chargers, although there was only one! With four hundred bazillion quadrillion images on the world wide web, you'd think even one pic of the KEYN Party Charger would have shown up. Fail. Third: Oh, yeah, baby! The Burn Notice Charger . . . both too hot and too cool. Besides, it really reminds me of #1 above . . . {And Fiona ain't a bad seat cover.} * And I NEVER think of that other one.

In Arizona, we know better. Nothing lives in the car in the sun out here. -
Ever had a "new" idea "stolen"?

Hobby shops in Colorado Springs
Danno replied to SFC_Allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The last good local shop has closed. Compleat Games & Hobbies is no more. All that's left is the HTUs (2), Hobby Lobbys (3), and Michaels (3 of those, too). -

Looking very good, Mike! It highlights the subtle difference between nearly right and definitely right! -
Looks great, G!

With 7.125 BILLION people in the world today, there are no "new" ideas, let alone unique ideas! -
How long. Does purple power last for?
Danno replied to ERIK88's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There was another thread just like this a couple of weeks ago, and the consensus was the same: It works until it stops working. Then you replace it. If you filter it after each use, it will last a long time. -
G? So, 'G' or 'a friend on another forum?' http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76041

That's an ignorant statement. Have you been to and studied the judging protocols at EVERY show? GSL and Heartland are not the only well judged shows in the world. That's another poor statement. I know of black cars that have "won shows." Many. Just to name two, Augie Hiscano set the modeling world on its collective ear more than a decade ago with a pair of black Best of Show winners at consecutive GSLs.

Yes.

Sad. And way too young. I was looking forward to the Sopranos movie. No sense making it now, it won't be the same without Tony.

Sweet.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Danno replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Amazing, Chris! Beautiful work on the clamp ... and trust me, no one is going to notice ~ let alone worry about ~ the driveshaft angle at this point! Rock on . . . -
Thanks, Jonathan and G! I appreciate the kind words. BTW, Ray, mine came with both a resin nosepiece and a white metal (pewter) nosepiece. I didn't take the time to polish the metal one. I painted the resin piece with a great chrome paint, the Ace Metallic Mirror Finish Chrome. As I mentioned, it gets a LOT of attention!

I did, Ray. I used the Gary Ormsby fuel dragster for the chassis & engine, etc. Rattle can paint, plumbed & wired. It never fails to draw attention!! It's a fun build up, but pay close attention to the fit of the body over and around your engine ~ especially the blower/injector/hat and the headers. Even with a lot of test-fitting during chassis construction, I ended up with some unpleasant surprises after the body was painted and prepped, when it was time to fit everything together. It's in the Contest Issue of Model Cars Magazine.

Tom, I don't think he meant the same model over and over. I think he meant the same builder won best of show three consecutive years. I understand how that can stifle participation after awhile. At Desert Scale Classic, we handle it a little differently. The members of our host club, Cactus Car Modelers, are not eligible to enter the critically-judged DSC. But, we have a separate and concurrent ( at the same time, Jim) club contest and display. Host Club Members enter that, and the spectators and DSC entrants judge the Club contest by Peoples' Choice style balloting. That way, the hosts aren't competing with the entrants/guests, and the entrants/guests have a chance to get even with the hosts!

RIP Black Forest, as we knew you. Forever changed and charred. Most devastating wildland fire in Colorado history. There were two people killed. Fortunately there were no more than that. One person injured. Fortunately there were no more than that. About 50% of the Black Forest Fire Protection District's 48 square miles were incinerated. 15,000 acres consumed. Tree stands hundreds of years old. Nearly 500 homes totaled. 38,000 people displaced during emergency evacuations. God be with one and all. This is one "casualty" of another kind . . .
