  1. It would appear the current color combo is not original: "Bill Flajole used the Forerunner as his personal transport until well into the 1960s, but in 1973 it was sold on. When Flajole built the Forerunner it featured green paint with ivory coves, but after he sold it the car was restored and the colour scheme was upated to the current livery of metallic purple with white coves. Inside there was matching white and purple leather upholstery with chrome wire wheels, and thereafter the Forerunner was displayed in the Blackhawk Museum for many years before being sold back into private hands in 1998." https://www.below-the-radar.com/flajole-forerunner/
  2. Some neat shots of Jeeps put to use as farm tractors... https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=txa.tarb086630&view=thumb&seq=1&skin=2021
  3. I remember that Jaguar from an auction catalog from a decade ago or so. Frank Lloyd Wright's Lincoln Continental also had its rear window filled in, among other unusual custom touches.
  4. Who knew a topic posted in the Off-Topic section could be considered off-topic? ?
  5. Houses aren't mass-produced consumer goods. There was high inflation in the '70s and '80s, correct? How much did model kit prices jump then?
  6. Someone built a large-scale loco as a cutaway model, showing the firebox and boiler. According to the chatter in the comments section, this was largely scratchbuilt. https://largescalecentral.com/t/locomotive-cutaway-model/77015
  7. What a great space for a slot car track or model railroad.
  8. Most old Progressive Rock can be rather challenging to dance to as well. ? (I do recall at least one person trying to dance along throughout a Jethro Tull concert in the late '80s. I don't believe that person was particularly sober). ?
  9. A review/build video posted here suggested that the slightly bowed parts straighten out once assembled.
  10. Maybe kit manufacturers should adopt pastry-type window boxes. You could then see the contents rattling around inside the box. You can print all sorts of notes and disclaimers on a box, and there will still be people who will be caught by surprise. I am reminded of a long thread in this forum criticizing decades of boxart trends, so what's a manufacturer to do?
  11. IIRC there's still one of the four I missed. I've been hoping they'd rerun the series.
  12. Several years ago some Guild models were displayed at the MassCar and Classic Plastic shows.
  13. I was reminded of the fellow who scratchbuilds R/C trucks in aluminum sheet over handmade forms, only to allow the bodywork to get beat up when put through their paces. The damage is part of the process, I guess.
  14. Apparently this is why the builder likes using the clay.
  15. This diorama is not my mine, but I recently rediscovered this thread after losing track of it for a couple of years. Perhaps the discussions can be of some inspiration to you. Note each thread spans a decade or more, over several-dozen pages of build photos and discussion. https://www.finescalerr.com/smf/index.php?topic=1983.0 https://www.finescalerr.com/smf/index.php?topic=2257.405
  16. Looks like a Chevy Suburban on the boxart, which isn't included in the kit. Or anywhere in 1:24?
  17. If the plastic is acetate I wouldn't soak it in any case.
  18. Wind tunnel testing has always involved the use of models, actually, only a bit larger.
  19. Try these sites for ideas: https://www.customcarchronicle.com/ https://kustomrama.com/wiki/
  20. I thought a lot of interiors were white.
  21. Did you miss the smiley? It was a joke.
