Great color choice and great paint job! I had forgotten about all of the molded in pieces like headlamps, grille, and tail lamps. That was poor design on the part of Monogram way back then, and it kept me from ever building one.

1972 Monte Carlo promos were made by AMT in several different colors. They're not dirt cheap, but starting with the right car and not modifying a different one would be much easier. All of the original AMT 1970 thru 1972 kits and promos featured molded in fender skirts, so that is a change you will probably need to make. Good luck!

That is an amazing transformation! I would have never thought of using a first generation Seville as basis for a Lagonda. Since you're awesome at converting plain cars into exotic cars, how about a Monteverdi Sierra, a Plymouth Volare with just a few modifications. 3D files exist for the Volare sedan.

Did this Caprice Sport Sedan project ever go anywhere? I don't remember seeing this post back in 2018.

Do you know someone who has a vac forming machine with a larger surface area? I think you may have too much buck for that device to handle.

Can you post a pic of the buck you have used in vacuum forming attempts? Also, are you attempting to create a piece that will fit inside your already constructed framework? If so, I would respectfully recommend forming the glass first and then adding the framework on the outer surface of that. Have you considered blow molding the piece instead of vacuum forming? Obviously you would need a negative mold to push the clear plastic into. But that might be easy to make by casting your existing windshield buck. I hope you can figure the best way to get the top. This is too much work to leave sitting in a box unfinished.

Ah yes, the famous "kid with the wild rosemaling technique." The colors look great, whether they are as original tints or not. I'm glad this Ford survived. You once mentioned that the somewhat similarly decorated Caprice was later reworked. Thanks for posting these pics.

The JoHan 1977 through 1979 Cadillacs came with exactly those wire wheel covers. They didn't have Vogue Tyres. The green car shown above has less than pristine condition wheel covers.

I would suggest keeping much more of the Corvair roof. Move the cut line back to about where you are relocating the trailing edge of the front door. If you cut as close to the windshield as marked, the A-pillars are going to be very weak.

Will the kit include decals for the world famous campaign in Beverley Hills, "Margaret Drysdale for Possum Queen?" It would be so over the top if a figure of a possum juggling Miss Jane Hathaway is included.

What a perfect blending of roof and body. I can't decide if it should be a Calais Custom or an Eldorado Custom Coupe. The smooth sides and Fleetwood level rocker panel chrome trim are excellent.

Take some Pepto Bismol for that gut ailment. And don't hold your breath. No Bluesmobile.

Many slick top cars had aftermarket vinyl tops installed in the 1970s and 1980s, especially young used cars. Most of those received stick on chrome trim around the edges. So seeing a Monte Carlo with the chrome trim would not have been uncommon. Your model looks too good as it sits to attempt removal of the trim. In my opinion.
