This will give it the "Sleeper" look as well... The Maw-Maw Paw-Paw vinyl top automatically says you don't have anywhere to go in a timely fashion. ? l love it! -

As long as he paints the Rabbit White, it should be ok ? -

I'm still deciding if I want to drop that kind of money on the wish list I have for the Monte Carlo. I'm looking at kitted LS engines and most are 1:25th scale I'm concerned the engine bay will swallow anything smaller.... and Revell still needs to make good on the decals also. In other news I opened my Revell 442 and the roof was smashed down so the body isn't usable for what I wanted to build, bummer. I'll have to go another way.? -

My friend Phil's Mustang definitely fits the Restomod theme! 513 cubic inch twin turbocharged fire breathing dragon! -

So literally Restomodding an old model build. Awesome Idea! I recommended the Rebuilders theme for the CBR so I'm interested is seeing what you do. -

My first order of business is to examine the contents of my build. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but there are things I'll have to correct. The abnormal mold line in the top being one thing. I'm really happy to see the Tampo glass in some of the older kits. Nice Job from Revell to simplify some steps, these were always a PITB to paint when I was younger. Early start but I still have to gather my aftermarket parts to make this build over the top. I'll be using 21/22 Z Mags. These will make it more Factory Modern. -

Probably the best thing to do to the grill on that kit. These kits get a bad rap but there's small things you can do to improve it. It make a huge difference. Rock on! -

I like both... I would say finish both of them and swap between the two. I put that body kit on a project I have going too. It's fits pretty well. Nice detail! -

I have the 66 GTO Revell kit first issued in 98 so it's fairly modern tooling. It's really well done... it's been reissued a few times most recently in 2017. This kit doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves. I haven't built it yet but it looks like a quality kit. It seems to be one of the forgotten kits from Revell... Maybe it's on their radar to bring back? -

Wow! Page Two already... OK... well, I don't want to be late to the party... so I'll go on and post my entry now. I'm building the Revell/Monogram 86 Monte Carlo Super Sport. It was my initial choice for the Radwood theme if it would've been chosen. Apon thinking it over I concluded that this subject would best suit the Restomod theme anyways, so I just stuck with it. My plan has changed in the sense that it will be a factory stock restoration with as many "Bolt on" aftermarket parts, bringing up to the modern era. LS powered, 20's/22's, possible cowl hood etc... That should do it. Now, I should note that with me nothing comes without drama these days. When I opened the kit to examine all the contents I found that the decal sheet was double printed with the 68 Cobra jet decals. Maybe it's the Universe telling me to build a Mustang? ? I've never seen this before but I'll need replacement decals and I may go with Ray's Kts decals. At 30 bucks a hit that's pretty costly but they are very detailed and would add alot of detail to an otherwise mundane kit. I like the boxart on this one but I have a favorite combination on these SS Monte Carlos. I'll make a decision but I think pearl white would look nice. By definition Restomods are Restored cars with aftermarket upgrades bolted on. In true fashion of this year's theme, I may just throw the world at this build to embody the meaning of Restomod in scale. We do Restomod builds with model kits more often than we realize. Otherwise we'd just build the contents of the box only and I rarely do that. https://rayskits.com/product/1987chevroletmontecarloss/ -

Kinda how I thought it was too... and now that I've seen both, I want one with the 75 grill. Never was a fan of the 75 grill or the 76 Standard grill either. It would be awesome to see a modern tooling 76-77 SS or Rally... whenever I win the Big Lotto I will be financing a 1/25th scale 76 Nova SS...with maybe the option for Hatchback or trunk by using two separate parts. Gotta win first though... ? -
The 68 is probably the toughest ask because the molds did become the 69... and the 69 did become the 70. I believe with the success of Round II we could see a project evolve, if they had the original mold specs. Any chance we could see these ...Wish granted ? Holy Grail kit. The 71 Plymouth will likely be back in the future. It's more recent than the Impalas. I built this kit in 88 I believe... I remember it being a pretty easy build. I liked it. I'd build it again.

No need, Restomod would win... why not start a separate thread for Radwood CBP? We've had some interest in other subjects with the Community here lately. I think there would be enough interest to get something going.

In 2016 CARtoons returned to publication. I grew up reading CARtoons. I had a subscription for 6 or 7 years until they stopped production in 91. I kept them all until 2014, I sold my entire collection to a friend of mine. The reborn magazine is great and even has some of the original artists such as George Trosley. If anyone is interested they have a pretty active Facebook page also. Here is the special edition issue #0 and the return issue #1.

Well said! And with that we're off to the Workbench!... January 1st of course.? And as Luka always says, "We build models... Because they're fun!"

I agree with Jay here... my belief, for what it's worth... Restomod is a Classic vehicle that has been restored to as factory specs with upgraded modifications that make it more reliable, comfortable, and more powerful but still have the option to remove the upgraded parts to return it to factory stock. Bolt on parts can give an old car performance and handling without disrupting the originality.

I had already picked a kit to build for the theme I voted for. I was excited to build this kit... I felt pretty confident the theme would be chosen. The more I thought about it I realized this kit was probably more suited for the Restomod theme anyway. Kinda glad now it didn't go my way. I can't wait to announce my selection and start it in the new year.

I never knew there was an actual 75 grill on the AMT kit. I think we need that 75 grill casted. It's on my radar now. I will be looking for one! Thanks for the info. -

Was the Quick Steer Close Ratio steering box part of the F-41 suspension? I bought one for my car but I know that all my SS and Rallys had that option. My 77 Concours also came equipped with that option. The 75 body change came with, as advertised the "Nova Buffet" any option in any combination... that's why you could've seen bare bone standand cars with all the performance goodys. Kinda like a special order COPO of the mid 70's. -

Get yourself a Greg Wann 4 door, this kit is the donor. I have a couple, they're quality kits too. I think they're more accurate than the 2 door honestly. They handle great even without the police package. Back when I did the HotRod thing I had 3½ skinny Centerlines with metric VW tires on the front and I could take sharp turns at 60 easily. Scary! but it held the road! -
Ford was a four letter word in my household. Then my Mom and Dad split, Mom re-married a Ford guy, so it was on after that. Dad hated Fords and my Stepdad... well he didn't exactly hate Chevys but he liked torturing my Dad, you see, they were actually best friends at one time. Yikes! Explain that one Mom. But it all worked out in the end like a Dukes of Hazzard ending.? I guess my point is that I got the best of both worlds, knowledge about GM from my Dad and my Stepdad was a great influence with Fords. My Brother and I lived primarily with my Mom and Stepdad. Sadly my Stepdad passed in 2008 and he had a massive Ford collection. One Car he willed to my Brother was this 64 Galaxie XL. It had potential, before he died we had built a 429 for it so the driveline was there, we just needed to restore the rest of it. Together my Brother and I finished the car in his honor. RIP Glenny, who's memory will live on endlessly through a Raven Black 64 Galaxie 500 XL. ?
