Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Seems it's always the case that build ups and glue bombs end up in my hands. These latest ones were destined for the trash. I'm not sure if I did any favors by saving these though... but I'm a sucker for old builds so I scooped them up anyway. -

Ollie's strike again
disconovaman replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Me too I'll buy them whenever they get to my local stores. I appreciate the nostalgia of it, reminds me of my childhood. I recreated the old Monogram boxart using the Revell kit in 1/25th scale. -
Ollie's strike again

Yes as far as I can tell it is one of those Monogram Classic Cruisers kits that Ollie's stores did a deal on where they aquired the contents and then had a print company print the boxes. The ones I've seen in that series are the 57 Chevy Nomad, the 32 Ford Street Rod, the 56 Chevy, and now the 69 Camaro. All 1/24th scale. They're ones that we all built when we were younger and I always liked these. I'm glad to see these available for an affordable price too. -
Ollie's strike again

I've been watching what different Ollie's has from what people have been posting. I see these Classic Cruisers Monogram/Revell kits such as the 56 Chevy and 69 Camaro. These were the Re-package kits by Ollies. (The Ollie's price tags were under the clear plastic) Recently my son picked up an AMT 63 Impala (the ones that Wal-Mart had awhile back.) Our local Ollie's had a single case of the Impalas with the custom body, he picked up the last one they had. I'm just wondering what other unique kits are out there... the Camaro is cool. -

Back to where I left off is good spot to be in so I think I can finish strong now... I used to build in a day when I was young... how did we do that? Now it's a struggle to get something built in a year... ? -

Second attempt at paint work... I messed up the stripes, I wasn't happy with the results so I decided to start over and it's another color. This is more like it... the other color was kinda flashy compared to this one. I definitely know how to complicate a project, this was supposed to be a quick build. ? -
The Future of Revell...for 2024 at least.
disconovaman replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
According to an article I read in Scale Auto years ago, Revell had fully intended to produce a Typhoon. They even had the boxart designed, but something happened and caused them to axe the project. There was a photo of the art in the article.. I wanna say sometime between 94 and 95 I believe. I think the article touched on resin casting also, there was a Typhoon casting for the Revell application. -

While we're on the topic of expanding different versions of Model kits by Revell in the future. I'd like to add my thoughts on a future Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser wagon. I was inspecting the contents of the Recent Revell release and noticed the parts trees left room for what may be future added parts. Did anyone else notice this? -
Yeah, the boxart says it too, and a 1:25th scale Blazer by Revell hasn't been done to my knowledge. So it will be exciting to see a modern tooling by Revell with a mid 80's Blazer.

Excellent choice that's stunning! I have an upcoming project that this color would be perfect on, I already have the paint for it but now I'm re-thinking it. Wow! that's ready to be filmed for the next Fast & Furious movie! Love the Red interior! The gold wheels compliment the body color and stripes perfectly! Y'all dudes are really showing up this year! It's a tough competition! -
Just found this thread and read all the posts... very interesting read. Love all the builds guys and great progress on the project. I was on an Eastern Motors lot where they specialize in slightly used cars back in 2005 and there was one of these in silver. I tried it out and instantly fell in love with the ride and power this one had. Unfortunately the numbers didn't work out so I went home with a 2002 Nissan Exterra (cue the loser music from the price is right)?? It served me well and I sold it in 2012. But I would probably still have the Wagon, it was just so modern muscle!

Yes and kinda... Yes the convertible has Deluxe door panels and electric windows also... they're usually found in RS/SS cars. They do work in the hardtop interior tub but are short due to the back seat being molded to the convertible interior tub. You could join the two door panels to make it Deluxe but only the front would be correct technically. Here's my RS with Deluxe interior and it had electric windows and door locks, they worked as smooth as any new car. -

I went with the boxart on the interior Basic black with the exception of Pro touring style seats for comfort. I'm working on gettin this dude up on the wheels now. Great progress you guys! I'm inspired! -
I seen him at an outdoor venue in 98... Awesome concert... the most single dollar bills I ever spent ?? ??R.I.P. to the OG Parrot head.??

You just can't seem to get away from 'em huh? What happened with the Falcon? I went back and re-read the thread but I must'a missed it. I have the indy pace car been in my collection for years. I've built it and rebuilt it a few times. I'm gonna go dig it out, planning on building it the way I originally built it back in 94 (Red and black with some kind of wire spoke wheels) I remember. I need to keep going on the Camaro too. Nice work on the Mustang... keep going!? -

Highland green huh? Is that a tribute to a certain Mustang of a Bullitt persuasion? ? I have a stalled Mustang project that I wanna get back on soon. It's gonna be red this time. -
I seen a black wasp's nest forming in my garage last week so I decided to knock it down, I got it with the end of my shop broom and when it fell to the floor 1 black wasp came flying out but to my amazement a family of spiders (10 in all) the same species as what yours looks like were in the nest as well! I was in disbelief. after I took this photo for proof, I squashed em!?

I'm just wondering if you clearcoated that... I never can get silver and clearcoat to shine. I've talked to different ones that say there's a way to break down the metallics with an airbrush so it will take clearcoat. Whatever they thin it with reacts with it chemically. I've never tried but supposedly Alabaster silver with 2K clear will shine and not soak in. I've seen stuff in shows so I know there's a way to do it, I just haven't figured it out yet. I like silver though, I have a silver Nova. -

Quick mockup with stripes on it. I ended up puttin too much pearl on the stripes and I didn't cut them close enough so I had to go with a new set. I'm planning on adding the pearl to the applied decals hopefully that will work. I do like the color with the first coat of clear. The blue looks close to Lemans Blue... a factory color for 69. -

Thanks, it is a beautiful area. Yeah, we moved here a year ago on the 12th. I own about 5 acres here but it's pretty secluded with farmland and right off from the mountains. It's quiet except there's a train track in the distance ? I'm used to it now. I think the mountain veiws and landscape is what draws people to Virginia. -

Yeesss! Awesome color! Originally I was gonna paint the Camaro frost green with pearl blue tint. Then I decided to go with the boxart blue. I'm getting the paint on now... Here we go! It's pretty close to the box car, I used a blue base then sprayed the Metallic blue over that now to add decals and clear... sanding, polishing. Yada,Yada,Yada.?
