  1. I'm finished with the Parts Box Builder... It's a simple build with not alot of details... I'm still chasing the perfect build on one of these kits. I've yet to build one that I'm completely happy with.. but for now, this will have to do, as I'm out of examples and these things have become too expensive. The contents of this kit are less desirable and not worth spending the money. However, I do believe if Round II were to re-issue this one with new decals and boxart it would once agian restore my intrest. It is, afterall an example of my favorite year Nova. Then I'd probably take a case at least. ? This build called out to me from the parts bin to do something with. It was just leftovers from ones that I had previously built through the years. I had enough to finish one more and I may try to finish the remaining one too. I'll take inventory on the rest of the parts. Until then... Thanks for looking!? P.S. I've included a shot of the ones that I have left in my built collection. I've owned 18 real 75-79 Novas and the majority of the kits were built as replicas and then given away to the new owners when I sold each of the cars in the past 21 or 22 years.
  2. Nicely done! ? This show had all the makings and formula of a hit TV series and by all rights it really was a hit. Unfortunately like alot of new shows just pryor to the pandemic, season 2 filming schedule was postponed and ultimately caused the cancelation. I hoped it would come back after the smoke cleared but I guess everyone has moved on. I loved the show and to see the Hero car built here really brought back memories of watching the first season. "Sweet Caroline" jammed in the tape deck and $600 bucks? "she has character" very witty show... Still holding out hope that one day it will pick up where it left off...
  3. Dragged this out of my Disco Nova Junkyard this past Monday on a whim. It's been in my collection since they reissued it in the early 2000's... I got a case of these because of my love for the real car. This build will be from the leftovers from those kits. Although it's not my favorite kit, I'm gonna put together the best offering my skills will allow. ? Only things different from a box stock build will be wheels & tires, Intake & carb, and the shifter... so far ? I'm including pics of it along the way (last two pics) I've stripped and painted it 3 times now. This current paint job purely an accident as I couldn't decide on a color so I closed my eyes and pointed at my paint rack. I picked Testors Firey Orange... Wasn't really happy with fate's decision so I thought I'd add Tamiya Clear red over that to see what happened. Candy Apple goodness is the result. ? added some black SS stripes at the bottom to break up the Red. Thanks for following ? Oh and this will be a short build as I'm almost done with it. Sanded and polished it this morning, Friday Jan 13th.
  4. It went back to the original owner and he loved seeing in finished! Displayed it proudly in his curio cabinet. I had the blue Mustang on the rollback.
  5. Thanks... ?They are definitely not in the Foose Imp... those are from the Copo Nova and work well with the late 60's bare bones steelies with poverty caps vibe.
  6. Yeah that is a funny story too...The 409 emblems were part of the decal sheet on the Foose kit. I didn't put those on there, Jimmy actually had the engine built, he put those on there unaware of the engine being a 396... my teenage son comes to the clubmeets and he was confused with those decals. I had to explain that those were on the decal sheet because I guess the early model 65's having 409s in them... and the Monogram/Revell Convertable kit had the 409 engine so I think that's why the hard top had those 409 engine decals. He just didn't know the difference between 409 and 396 and I just left them on there. ?
  7. I think it's a cigar, but I shaved it off, human Jimmy doesn't smoke. ? Here are some of the other swapped projects from the clubmeet also.
  8. Impressive work goin on there! Snake head collectors are creative indeed. The chrome process seemed to work well for ya, nice results... ? I'm currently working on 3 or more kits at a time and this little guy fits the category fairly well for wild and custom so I'll share it here. This is leftover scraps from my cab forward project that I vowed would not go to waste. I was asked to build an Ice Cream truck so this will become the "Ice-Screamer" with a cooler in the back. A little shorty hotrod Prostreet Ice cream machine.
  9. Oh and here is the 1/24th figure from MB Master Box LTD if anyone wants their own Jimmy check that model company out they have lots of neat figures available.
  10. My local modelers club decided to Swap stalled builds, so I ended up with a fellow club member's 65 Impala. It was about 85% done and not really much of a challenge for me to get finished... I polished the paint added details to the engine and with final assembly it was finished. I had a "Jimmy" figure to paint which was an inside Joke in the club because the club member who owns the Impala is actually named Jimmy ? I normally can't paint figures but he turned out ok, I painted him to look like the real Jimmy...anyway, thanks for looking.
  11. I'm gonna try to get more built this year... Lord willing and the creek don't rise ? I can use that quote now because I moved to a property that actually has a creek running through it... ? I think I only built four kits last year...or atleast I finished four. So my New year's goal is to finish more. Thanks agian for all the positive feedback and support from everyone.
  12. MDA Model Car Contest, Swap Meet & Show - March 4, 2023 - Roanoke, Virginia http://www.mdamodelcar.com/
  13. Ian Roussel builds some amazing cars.
  14. Progress did a spray out of the color for the Custom Hauler. I'm gonna put these decals on the car from the 63 Impala... with some trimming I think they will work great. The top will be Ivory... I'm loving the build! I've decided to SBC the car using the engine from the 66 Chevy II Pro-street... more on the way.
  15. Adam Driver stars in a movie called White Noise that just dropped on Netflix. Oh boy, where to begin? It's an odd story plot with alot of unnecessary dialog set in the mid 80's that seems to drag on with hardly no real direction, 3/4ths the way in it still doesn't explain the multiple plot lines of the events at this point. If I had to sum it up, I'd best describe it as human obsession and the lengths they'll go for it weather it's weight loss, jealousy, dying, or Elvis and Hitler believe it or not. Nevertheless, It's just plots, stories, and characters that are not prudent to the overall meaning of the film. I will say that the cinematic details that make up the 80's era (props, clothing, and automobiles) are probably the best I've seen in a movie depicting the past recently. I would say challenge yourself to watch 20 minutes of it but I really don't want to be blamed for wasting 20 minutes of your time. ???
  16. I'm with ya on the dated look... it's tough to build a model with those tacky modifications with all the modern options you have... but if you're tryin to get a build like this out of your system (so to speak) this would be the perfect one to build (IMO) Initially models were designed to be factory stock replicas and if not for the 50's& 60's customizing scene, who knows if those parts would exist in modeling. I read an article in HotRodding explaining the "Dare To Be Different" era as almost a competition to see who could come up with the craziest designs. These builds are now part of automotive history and the designers are amongst the most highly regarded in the industry.
  17. My 76 Nova Concours and the Replica The MPC kit in 1/25th scale... and the 1/64th matchbox
  18. Totally 80's Dude! and for me it will never be out of style... To me It's timeless, loved it then, love it now. You mentioned the awesome decal sheet and I agree what I see there is welm of possibilities. Maybe that's the 2 in 1 explanation only there's enough decals for 3 or more options I'd say. The blue stripe decals are reminiscent of the Dobberton Chevy II and perhaps the car that started the Pro-street movement and widely recognized as the first tubbed street car commercially. I'm planning on using those on the Mobious hard top and building my version of that car. This build here is giving me plenty of inspiration in the meantime....?Carry on then.
  19. I've stalled all my other projects to stay devoted to finishing these...every day I get a little further.? I didn't realize how much work I have here just by doing things, what I consider simple. I cut the middle section from the chassis in order to simplify the build. I had pondered on using the Chevy II altered wheel car but I didn't want another kit without a chassis. I'm using the Hemi from the Progessive Racing team. I wanted to use that engine in the car when I seen it on the box and when the idea presented itself with building the vintage combo, it just seemed fitting and speaking of fitting, that Hemi is a perfect fit in the car just have to add a transmission. Cutting, sawing, fitting, filling, sanding Yada, Yada, Yada ??? hey I'm making progress so that's good...
  20. Oh No! Here I go agian cutting up stuff... Altered wheelbase Roadster Chevy II drag car, could've been been a four door sedan... ???
  21. At this time I'd like to Announce the winner of the 2022 Cannonball Run Community build Year Of Birth. Congratulations to Mattilacken for that Awesome 1500 Chevy! Thanks to everyone for the support! see you all next year!
  22. I finished this AMT 67 Chevelle Pro-street as the familiar MaxRat Revell late 80's street machine. My vision was to build it as if it was kicked around and survived 30 some years of abuse. I'd imagined it changing hands several times and each new owner may have changed different things. The original hood was swapped for a stock hood because the Intake was changed to a single carb (for reliability) sometime in the late 90's. ??? Also the next owner liked Weld Pro Stars so gone are the Centerlines originally used in 1989. But after all it still remained with it's original Lime Green color scheme. A little primer here and there to repair rust bubbles perhaps. I got a feeling that one owner didn't care for the custom taillight assembly so he replaced it with the stock SS panel. The clearcoat is peeling, she's rough around the edges, a little dated, a tad worn out but she's a survivor! Thanks for looking and hearing my story ??
  23. Do we a have an affirmative on box art yet? I seen a coming soon ad on one of the retail sites showing the MPC monster bronco was coming so maybe they were confused?
  24. Geez, just goes to show you can't see what lies beneath. Mental health is very important during this time of year. I wish he would've reached out for help. The guy was known for his positivity and he goes out in the most negative way possible? He could not have been thinking clearly. Rarely does one think of how they will be remembered on earth after they're gone but it will be tough to not remember him for his last day instead of all his talent and positivity. A tragic ending nonetheless. RIP tWitch
  25. Here's my entry for the Wild&Custom build challenge. I'm building this duo using the 63 Chevy II wagons as a Custom Hauler/Racer combo with a trailer to be built together. Here's what I've done so far... Removed the long roof on the Racer, added the roadster one seat topper thing from the Olds Cutlass F-85. On the Hauler I've removed part of the top in hopes to build a 4 door sedan. Upon researching, I realized the roof was different on the real car but all the (wrong) work was done on the model by that time. I'm gonna move on as if it was originally a wagon built into something else... I may put a trunk on it or turn it into a crew cab Elcamino of sorts... I haven't decided yet.
