Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! I'm definitely inspired to finish all the stalled Revell 69 Camaro projects I have.

Wow! This is Awesome and I'm sure Greg and Dwayne would be proud. It's nice to see one finished too. ?

What about the runner up from last year as an option everyone? It was a close second... (Station Wagons) We've had some good ideas in the past too. Some of my ideas are... Gluebombs/rebuilders. Mid/rear engine. Wagons. Factory Phantom. Cars or trucks never built but should've been... 4 door only. 90's (celebrating the next generation of classic/antique cars) 25 years or older. Just some ideas to mill over...

Oh No guys... I watched The Family Switch A Holiday movie now showing on Netflix. It's a Christmas movie set at Christmas time but it isn't overly about Christmas typically. Jennifer Garner play the mom, She's the Smart Architect super mom with 3 kids holding it down and Ed Helm is the Dad who trys to be hip and relate to his son. He's the Band teacher at the school his kids go to. It's simular to Freaky Friday and other films where the parents and kids switch bodies. To me, seems like a traumatizing experience and you'd never try to function as someone else, but it makes for a funny senerio. This one has some funny moments and some cringe moments also but worth the watch. Notably because it has a cool Van and a Camaro that isn't what it's license plate says it is but that's Hollywood for ya. Anyway go on and watch it if you want to but just beware of the cringeiest scene in the movie if your sensitive to destruction... it's all I can say without spoiling the movie.

I don't see a problem with it. I've done it before. I've been to alot of contest shows where the same builds are entered. It's pretty much the same for an online platform. Model Car FB groups have alot of the same members and you'll see the same builds on different groups too. It's normal and if it's an exceptional build, I appreciate it everytime I see it.

"I nominate the... ??? I agree, it was a very well orchestrated CBR with an effective amount of participation. I usually wait towards the end and re-read the updates. I was impressed at how easy and engaging it was to read it all. I didn't realize how hard it would be to vote for my favorite finished build. I can't decide yet. -
I have not finished it. It's currently stalled out... I have so many projects to finish up and so many new ones are coming at me. This one was tough because I had a trailer and Drag car combo that I wanted to finish together. It just snowballed and I burnt out on it.

Ollie's strike again

I totally understand what you mean and I was about ready to bite the Ebay bullet on one for $25 and 6 bucks shipping but it turns out they were at my local store all along. You'll have to just cross your fingers and wait, hopefully it'll show up. There are some popping up on Ebay with sellers trying to capitalize on it. Ollie's is pretty common in my area but they're not everywhere. These sellers are on to it... Sucks but it's life, at least it's available even though you'll have to pay a higher price. -
Ollie's strike again

Well, the saga continues, I posted about the Manager who didn't want to sell me any models yesterday, Well they were frantically trying to get them on the floor this morning... because according to a member of our local model club (Joel) who is friends with the manager (Matt) at the Ollie's in Lexington (30 minutes south of this Ollie's). Joel told Matt the story and Matt wasn't happy, he called cooperate and reported the incident, Yikes! They weren't happy, Cooperate called the Waynesboro store and they were told to get the inventory on the floor ASAP! Here is the inventory (and more that you cant see in this picture) that is now on the floor at our local Ollie's thanks to a manager at a completely different Ollie's store. ? -

Wow! What a fantastic run this year guys. I just finished re-reading all the update posts. I just want to thank @White Rabbit for an Awesome job on organizing and keeping the CBR alive! Great job! There are some really stand out builds in the running. I love all of the builds and there's details about every single one that really jump out at me! The rear engine Honda Accord wagon! The Pontiac Ferrari V12 swap! The Non-paint job weathering on the raked Ford!... just to name a few. I'm already getting excited about the next CBR and we haven't even picked a theme yet! Thanks to all the participants also who support the CBR each year. See you all at the starting line. -

Turns out a buddy of mine knows who the guy is and said he was a manager at Walmart and was doing the same thing with Hotwheels. ... my buddy said him and the guy had words, later he learned the guy was fired for being rude to customers. I don't think he's the right guy for the job needless to say lol -
Ollie's strike again

I scored these at Ollie's this morning... funny story... I practically had to beg and plead to get these. I was walking out of the bathroom at the back of the store and glanced in the back, seen the Viking codes and descriptions on the contents on a pallet...I got an employee's attention to open them up, he then got the manager's approval to open the cases up. The manager would only sell me the three I identified and only one per case! That's Crazy unheard of... the Ollie's rule is within 48hrs of unloading the shipment, it must be on the floor. That's policy. (They've had the shipment since before Black Friday) and there's cases and cases of even more options. These are only the ones I pointed out! The manager said flat out he couldn't let me buy more than that. He's sketchy What's going on here? ? Anyway, I'm just happy to get these. The 57 Vette, 56 chevy, and the other ones I haven't identified will be bought whenever he gets them out. ?? -

@Fat Brian hey buddy, I don't remember if you're near an Ollie's or not but I thought about you this morning when I seen the Mustang. The Ollie's re-package bag kits Classic Cruisers line is pretty cool, they have a good selection. I love this kit and really all those old Monogram kits. Now here's the funny part of the story, I was walking out of the bathroom at the back of the store and glanced in the back, seen the Viking codes and descriptions on the contents on a pallet...I got an employee's attention to open them up, he then got the manager's approval to open the cases up. The number one objective is participation in a group build as Mike has stated, show your work and group support is great advice... you'll get the same in return. A group of like minded folks building the same subject in a community is fun. It's neat to see everyone's interpretation and creative expression of the challenge in a group build. and as always have fun! Try not to take yourself too seriously.

The two kits seem to work together pretty well. I need a set of those big Centerlines, They're cool! I couldn't get the weather to act right for my outside pics either so I gave up. ?
-
The engine works well in the Camaro engine bay without any modifications. There are tabs on the sides of the engine, location points (motor mounts?) They need trimmed off so it sits further down onto the cross member. But that's all I did to make it work... I should've used the rear axle and drive shaft from the Concept Camaro. It would've worked better without having to lengthen the stock drive shaft.

I was hoping one of these threads would pop up soon. I'm excited to see what gets suggested. I had several ideas but none really seem practical at the moment. I know how to overthink a project so any of my ideas would do just that. ? I like what I'm seeing so far, some good ideas out the gate!

For my entry this year I went with something I love to build, one that is both classic and modern at the same time. For me, one that I'll never get tired of building, a kit that practically builds itself (on my bench atleast). My favorite kit, the Revell 69 Camaro!!! I took inspiration from the first Revell 69 Camaro Z28 I built way back in 1991 and built a tribute to that kit. I built this car as a Pro-touring style cross country cruiser. I replaced the 302 with an all aluminum 6.0 Y Block LS2 from the 06 Concept Camaro... (AFM) active fuel management boasts 30 MPG and 400 H.P. under high speeds. Backed by a 7 speed manual transmission it makes for some low RPM high MPH Flat out racing. Wheels and tires come from various different kits such as a Revell 67 Chevelle and the MPC 84 Deserter 4X4 and complete the 20/22 inch big style Pro-touring look. The interior is Pro-touring as well with 4 bucket seat for comfort. The paint scheme is just a simple boxart style that inspired me as a teenager. The color is Chrome Blue metallic with white stripe decals and clearcoat. I followed the box closely as a fun way to call out the inaccuracies of that original boxart. The blacked out taillight panel and the cowl stripes are two details that stand out. Those cowl decals were meant to be boarder stripes for painting the white inside the grates. I had fun re-creating that design. Overall, I like how the build turned out and at last I'm ready for the Run!

Thanks, I was surprised how easily it swapped in there. it looked too big in comparison. It fits in the engine bay like it was part of the kit though. In reality it was just a development project with GM that never came to mass production. I like the concept so I went with it.

Nice build... my dad has the real one! He's owned it since 77. My brother and I did the restoration on it about 6 years ago.

I finished this 69 Camaro for the 2023 RWYB CBR Community build with days to spare! I used the 69 Revell Z28. I went with a modest Pro-touring style look with the retro boxart. I had this build in mind for awhile because this is sorta-kinda how I built my first Revell 69 Camaro back in 91... Boxart, molded in blue/white stripe decals and black interior ?...I did clear coat the body with Testors clear. I built this one as a tribute to the original... with a modern flare. For the Cannonball Run I chose to run a 6.0 LS Yblock from the 06 Concept Camaro. For the interior I used front and rear racing seats to complete the look of style and comfort for going the distance from NYC to Cali. I used Revell 67 Chevelle rally wheels stuffed inside the MPC Deserter rings so they appear to be bigger. Like 20's and 22's ? anywho, here it is finished in Chrome Blue metallic which is close to Monogram blue metallic plastic and matches the boxart close enough... thanks for looking and Happy Thanksgiving to all and have a safe holiday season.

Ollie's strike again

Me too! I can't find it at my local Ollie's in Virginia yet but I know these have been spotted in Illinois and Mississippi so far. They're illusive but hopefully there's a large inventory of them waiting to be distributed.
