  1. The "New Tooling" for this kit includes improving the grill and mirrors on the (promo) snap kit and early 1990's AMT model kits. The Chevy Silverado 1500 with the BYP Sport Package similar to the 454SS but with a 350ci 5.7L V8 with Automatic transmission. I'm not 100% sure but maybe the 5speed manual came standard with the 305ci? I'd be happy to see the Chevrolet Sport decals from Round II in Silver, Red, and Black. My Teal Promo dually is from 1995, atleast that's what the license plate says. Cool kits, I've built all the versions of it, glad to see Round II taking an interest in the truck.
  2. Thanks, it's gettin there... I'm using the 383 SBC from the 37 ford. I figured the original Old Pro I built had a small block, so why not the Chevelle. I need to finish it up soon.
  3. "You'll shoot your eye out with that thing!" ???
  4. You're right... I used Black Metallic Pearl. Thanks, I wish I would've used Blazing Black from the One Coat line, it has more course metallic and it's less gray than the Black Pearl... I recommend Blazing black on the 55 Belair.
  5. The wheels in the 55 Chevy kit were used from the Early Iron series kits of the mid 70's. So they're not exactly the same as the original wheels from the Street Rat (Red kit). However, they are 1/24th and will fit the Chevelle. I have multiple sets of the Slots from the old Red Malibu, they make good 4x4 Wheels because they're slightly bigger than normal IMO. I'm working on the Malibu and I've used the slots from the Street Rat on the back with the Firestone 500 slicks from the Round II Vega. Also I'd like to point out that (from my point of veiw) the Early Iron slots are supposed to be chromed steel wheels... while the missing Malibu slots are designed to be aluminum.
  6. Yeah we think it started out as the Hemi Under Glass kit. A member in the club acquired if from a build up collection it's pretty well done too.
  7. Thanks! Yeah, the Lawman Gasser is a good looking car. I think it's a play on words to the Badman. It would be easy to replicate. I had the idea to build it myself. The wheels are Hildebrand spokes and polished slots. I can't think of what kit they are in?... someone can help me remember I'm sure. I had them on a Studebaker Gasser I traded it off mid build, big mistake.
  8. Yeah I see where you're coming from, but there weren't any descriptions of the builds or multiple photos and to onlookers that didn't keep up with the thread they wouldn't know what they are looking at. Would it be fair to the other 10 that did take time to post descriptions and photos? I'm leaving it as it is due to the fact that the run is over and the poll is already off and running.
  9. Despite the fact these builds weren't included in the voting, they are still winners because they were finished. I can't help but think of all the builds that didn't finish and realize the challenges I had myself with finishing my own build. I understand... It really does take alot of time and effort when you have a count down. If I've learned one thing through this year's CBR, it's not to wait til the last month to get finished and expect it to be quality and above my standards of competing in a competition. ??? These were excellent builds and surely belonged in the voting poll. Scott and Kurt both were reining champions for the past 3 years and had beautiful builds as well as the rest of the builders. Some real competition there. And a shout out to all the unfinished builds, I really do want to see all these in the Under glass section in the future. Because after all, My main goal and why this Community build was started all those years ago is a way to inspire and get folks building models. Also I want to thank everyone who participated in and continue to have passion for the CBR! Next year will be even better! A Special thanks to White Rabbit for setting up the polls this year. I'm proud of the work he's done here! And at this time I'd like to announce Enzo (aka White Rabbit) will be carrying the torch as Moderator for us at the 2023 CBR. I have No Doubt that he will do an excellent job! I'm excited to build in 2023 and see what the next CBR brings! See you all at the Starting line and as always have fun and Watch out for two priests in a Red Ferrari! ??
  10. I did this to the Emergency Snap kit... Swapped the 84 MPC front end onto it. Stranger Things Sheriff Hopper's Blazer. It made a decent replica...
  11. I kinda had an idea for the 63 Chevy II... I was trying to turn the wagon into a 4 door sedan. It started out going well until I looked at reference photos online. I seen alot of body differences. I definitely regretted cutting it up without researching. Now I'm thinking about using the custom parts from the kit and just continuing the build as a custom. Maybe someone took granny's wagon and chopped off the back of the roof because back then wagons weren't really the ideal choice to customize. I'm gonna move forward with this none the less. I've already sacrificed enough to turn back.
  12. I think it's more or less an open, anything goes loose interpretation bring what you build... maybe with a budget restriction? I don't know what the theme rules would be for that though.
  13. Thanks guys... it's a nice addition to the other three builds I've built for the Cannonball Run. I'm excited to see what the next theme will be.
  14. I love Show Rods and "Wacky" fantasy themed cars. Tom Daniels is a legend as well as Barris, Winfield, and Darrell Starbird... I'd be up for this build as a separate community build also. Although I'd have to narrow down my build choice, there are so many to choose from. Something to think about for sure..
  15. After you enter your email, tap the green envelope to the right and you'll be asked to enter a code, the code will be in your email add the 6 digit code and your vote will be cast... thanks
  16. So Listen up guys, I've been thinking about this and it's weighing heavily on my heart. So I want send my sincere apologies to the following builders of this year's CBR... landman Oldmopars Just Jim Beans 89AKurt Dragonhawk1066 fivesuns These members had finished entries for the Cannonball Run Community build event but did not post in the finished builds thread. One of the rules is that we use that thread for the voting process... [- A few weeks prior I’ll start a completed builds thread, for posting up your work and we’ll work the poll from that thread. Take some GOOD PHOTOS! I cannot emphasize this enough, good photos are essential. No one has won this with crappy photos in poor lighting.- ] I implement these rules from the original CBR because it is effective. This helps the voters decide a winner for the event. I was distracted with finishing my build and I was unable to remind everyone who had not posted their entries before the poll was posted. For that, I'm truly sorry...I enlisted the help of WhiteRabbit and he was proactive in getting that done for us. I am grateful that he took the time to help out with this year's voting poll and the theme poll for 2023 as well. These Awesome builds should not go unnoticed and if you all were following along you know the amount of work and dedication that went into each of these projects. Technically we had 17 finished builds, an impressive number for my stint as moderator. I have grouped these Fabulous finished photos together as a reminder of how important it is to stay up-to-date on the build thread and the inpending deadline for future reference. Thanks for understanding and sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused... but there agian, I cannot stress enough of how important it is to read and remember all aspects of the competition.
  17. Whoops! Wrong poll ??? I'm tired sorry. ?
  18. As far as I can tell once you vote you have the ability to see the results... I'm able to go in and veiw the status of the race. I will say that every car is on the board with a percentage of the vote and that is Awesome...but there is one racer who is leading by a margin.
  19. Here is my entry for the Cannonball Run Year Of Birth Community build. I used the Revellogram 76 step side and back dated it to a 73. Details include: stretched and widened bed tubbed and narrowed the rear-end lowered 4X4 frame 3d printed wreckerboom from BCSModels.com Chopped top Blazer details added to the interior Weathering from salt and vinegar process to rust and fade the paint 427 Big Block Road tractor wheels on Sprint (rear tires) fronts are Dodge Challenger It's a long bed stepside Pro-street Wrecker. It was a fun build I stayed focused as to finish on time...head over to see all the wonderful builds in the Finished thread in the Community section if you wish... Enjoy the photos and thanks for looking...
  20. Here are some colorful photos of the CBR tow rig! enjoy... thanks for watching this build and the support!
  21. Here is my entry... The year was 1973 the Watergate investigation was in full swing, Carly Simon was at the top of the charts with You're So Vain, and everyone was piling into theaters to see American Graffiti and The Exorcist... but what was really on everyone's mind was that New Chevrolet bodystyle change. Brand new styling and designs over at GM had everyone wanting a New Chevrolet truck. I built my Cannonball ride in the from of a "Repo-man" "Grab-n-go" 1973 Chevrolet Longbed stepside Tow truck. The details include: A Big Block 427 with dual-quads on a hi-rise intake. Giant Sprint tires on Road tractor wheels. The front tires are swiped from a new Dodge Challenger. 3D pinted wrecker boom supplied by BCSmodels.com The front half of the bed features a built in fuel tank with two side gas tanks and the factory duel fuel tanks mounted on the frame. I think that much fuel may cost as much as the truck nowadays. ?? I hope I have enough to make the trip... I chopped the top, stretched and widened the bed, modified the grill to a 1973 only "open" grill, lowered the 4X4 suspension, tubbed the bed, narrowed the rear-end, and I boxed in the rear bumper to appear as a Pro-street when the tailgate is up. My inspiration came from an old toy I had called the Clyde's Car Crusher. The wrecker in the set was Yellow and Red... I added weathering using the salt treatment and fading the paint using vinegar and a toothbrush. Finally I added a 1988 Toyota Corolla FX to tow around for fun. ? Thanks agian to everyone for the support in continuing the Cannonball Run Community build. This was a fun build as it came down to the wire for me this year! ?
  22. ?✨️? I'm officially finished with the Cannonball Run Wrecker... here's a sneak peak of the finished build! Color photos to be added tomorrow! Building ends tomorrow Thursday Dec 1st. Thanks to everyone who participated... If you have a finished build to add to the 2022 YOB finished buid thread, be sure to post over there. Thanks.
  23. I'm trying to have the Tow truck finished by tomorrow... I'm well on way to having it done so I'm hopeful. Lots of small details that's dragging on... Shown here is the frame stretched to fit the long bed stepside... Roll On!
  24. It's the 87 AMT kit... this one... the other kit is the 1990 Revell K9 police car.
