  1. Thanks Bill, that means alot coming from you... I'm really excited to see the family truckster project of yours! I'll keep updating myself on the build, I was actually thinking about getting one of those myself. These Hot Wheels inspired type of builds really remind me of the cool themes you come up with... definitely channeling your energy when I start thinking about what to build. I've been following along with your builds for nearly 15 years in amazement so Thank you for the inspiration.?
  2. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, I do appreciate it! This is a simple kit with minimal problems. My only complaint is to me for not reading the directions. I skipped a few steps ahead out of order on the build and it kinda cost me in hindsight. All in All I consider it a win because I'll know better the next time.?
  3. This Build is a Tribute to the Hi-Tail Hauler SE Real Riders "Good'ol Pic Um Up" released by Hot Wheels in 1985. I started with the Foose Ford, I De-Foosed it as much as possible, shaved the embossed Foose Logo off the Tailgate, added F O R D letter decals. The wheels and tires are from the Monogram Chevy Luv. I used 4 back wheels and tires stripped the chrome and added center caps from the Monogram 53 Chevy Belair... Signature Real Riders Good year decals came from an AMT Nascar. The Color is Candy Scarlett under 3 coats of Wet look clear. I added the "Good Ol Pick Um Up" Hood decal to complete the tribute. The dirt bikes are from the AMT Parts Pack. Basically this is a Box Stock build with a few minor changes (wheels and tires and decals.) Thanks for looking and have a Good'Ol Day!??
  4. I was deeply honored that my barnfind made it into the 2 page spread. I've had my builds published in contest annuals before but this is Awesome. I'm truly humbled.
  5. As far as I know Testors still owns those molds. I can't find any info about it. There is evidence of a merger with Airfix so maybe those molds could be reused? Here's the kit in yellow from the forum. It's pretty simple for sure.
  6. My favorite issue was this one. Mainly for the decals. It was the first model I built for a contest, which resulted in a 3rd place trophy for the beginners class I was 14. Still have the trophy the model is long gone. Would be nice to see those decals return in the new kit. I would've like to have seen a new cowl hood tooled up also. I'm sure the 3D world will have alot of options, so no worries. I'm happy to see it no matter what. Also thought to mention the Testors Boyd's Hauler... whoud that kit be worth a re-pop? Or any of those Quick builder kits.
  7. Well said, yeah, very sad story, and I don't think they are the wealthiest people either, so funding a project like that probably took the back burner for other reasons as well.
  8. I've often wondered what became of the 1970 Boss Mustang restoration that the two brothers on YouTube were building. Sadly, earlier this year Brandon, made an update video informing the viewers of his younger brother Corey's unexpected death at the young age of just 29 on December the 16th. He no longer has the will to continue the build therefore has sold the car and shares the news through a heartfelt update. I was in tears, I really feel for the guy. RIP Corey Cooper https://www.millerfuneralhome.org/obituary/corey-cooper
  9. Wow! So was mine, 1960 Chevy Apache 8 foot bed 327 out of my dad's 67 Camaro. I loved that truck. I took it off the road to turn it into a show truck... meantime I got the 61 which was further along, it had beautiful paint and interior but had the 235 3 speed. I sold that truck to my dad, I dismantled the 60 and later on sold it as a project.(one of my biggest regrets in life). One day I'll build another one, it's my favorite bodystyle of the Chevy trucks. Recently, I looked at one for sale but I felt the price was a bit too high and he wouldn't budge. It's the blue and white one... the really pretty one ? sorry for getting off track with the thread but here's my dad's Camaro, he still owns it...
  10. That's how I changed the starter on my 61 Chevy pickup, it had a 235 6 cyl.
  11. Seen a 67 6cyl Camaro at Carlisle PA. Chevy show the other year. Really neat to see something different, most are V8s by now even if they were factory 6cyl... My neighbor had one with a 6cyl but not for long, it was under the tree in his backyard one morning when I came out, the 6cyl was hanging from a limb.? Here's a shot of the Camaro from Carlisle for reference...
  12. A better shot of the Ford...
  13. Yes you do...? it's a 61
  14. Clubmeet results from today 1/28. These came from a collection that was given to one of our members. Lots of vintage, rare kits in the mix some turned into dirt cars. ? Enjoy, thanks for looking...
  15. I was a little skeptical about this kit at first because of it's reputation but the build seems to be going smoothly for you. I have been following both threads and I'm enjoying the details and progress.
  16. That's is what I did with the Squad Rod...
  17. Wow! Impressive! Really thinking about one of these in the future. Is this a fantasy build? I'm not familiar with modern Nascar. I would like to build something of tribute to the legends. Very cool build!
  18. Thanks for the encouragement ? I'm working on it now... I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm gettin excited for the dirt track build and it's becoming more of a priority than the street car. I decided to test fit the Nova body to the GTO Super Stocker... the result? Pretty much a direct fit, considering I didn't use that kit as a donor in the beginning. I recommend using these two kits if you want to build a Super Stocker Disco Nova. I think it's gonna be a great finish. Now I'm rethinking the whole build. New colors and a different theme maybe a Nascar tribute build of sorts. 3, 8, 24, 29? ???...
  19. Well I've talked myself into continuing this thread with another Nova junk box builder... actually 2 more. Basically I'll be robbing parts from two kits to make up one kit and the rest of the stuff I'll use to finish the dirt track car. The plan is to use the good parts from the dirt track car onto the vinyl top street car to make a complete kit. I'll scratch build whatever I don't have to finish the Race car.
  20. And I believe the two kits were out about the same time too. MPC won that war, the battle of the Disco Nova. But on the other hand a pro stock Nova did fit the bill for the time, imagine if MPC would've followed AMT's lead with a ProStock version of the 79 Nova? (Altererd tool by that time). It would've been a great opportunity to fix that plain chassis if nothing else... And I remember when AMT announced the Street Custom kit. Alot of modelers were disappointed but I wasn't. I remembered AMT had modified the stock tooling and thought I bet the box didn't match the parts. I was right, I ordered a case anyways... when they came in my local hobby shop owner disclosed the information he said "You know the kit isn't the stock version?" I said "I kinda figured"... didn't matter to me, the Old Pro chassis fits as a stock option. I went with it. The dimensions are off and the kit is simple but it still builds up with minimal issues. AMT didn't even try to improve the decals so at the very least it would be cool to see Round II's take on the kit for the decals IMO..
  21. I agree but I just don't see them investing in a kit that really isn't all that different between 78 to 79. I'll take the re-pop of the Squad Rod in White styrene and colored glass though...and I'd like to see what they would do to improve the Hideous AMT backbirth... Just for fun. ?
  22. I really do hope the folks at these companies in Product development are watching these threads. Round II ? if you could acquire this mold I'd like to see what y'all could do with it... New Decals...Box Art, pad printed tires treaded and slicks... I know it's a jankie kit but I'm sure it would sell just for nostalgic reasons...
  23. Thanks everyone for the nice comments... I'm really hoping Round II will get it back out so I can see some other ones get built here! Thanks again!
  24. I didn't get any seat time at the bench this weekend... so I took the time today to finish up the build. There wasn't much left to do, trim foil, final assembly and photo shoot... I'm not 100% happy with the finished result but I'm ok with the build given the timeline I gave myself to finish and it was just junk parts is what I keep telling myself. ? Finished photos in under glass if you're interested...
