Well it's probably no surprise but I didn't meet the deadline ? I was trying to finish the build for the MDA show but I started making small errors towards the end and I made the call to slow down and finish it without the pressure. I didn't want to compromise the build for the sake of having it done quickly. Here's where I stopped... Now that doesn't mean I didn't still meet the deadline on the new Mobious 65 Chevy II Gasser that finally got released. I slammed it together as quickly as possible for a build reveil. In case anyone was interested in building the kit here it is...

Got her passenger built and what a fiddley little guy it was. Moving on. Today was a productive day. 1. Paint the Roof ✔️ 2. Apply decals ✔️ 4. Paint door panels ✔️ 5. Clean up overspray inside ✔️ and I got the go cart built ✔️ Tomorrow the goal is to have it finished! So here goes nothing or should it be said here goes everything?

Checking in on this build... here's a list of what's left to do... 1. Paint the Roof 2. Apply decals 3. Apply Clearcoat 4. Paint door panels 5. Clean up overspray inside 6. Mount the body and step boards 7. Mount doors 8. Add all details and glass Quite a list, so I better get moving if I plan to have it finished before Saturday! The color choice was literally last second decision. I do regret it but... too late to turn back now! Here is a sample of the Color it's Chrome Yellow Pearl!

Thanks, that's what I did with the leftovers from the three kits I cut up. Initially I had planned a Good Humor style ice cream truck but the most useful portion was the rear section and that would normally be replaced by a cooler anyway. I did some brainstorming and came up with a mid engine "Short Bus" concept. I've been thinking of a rear engine, wheelie ridin drag machine and calling it the "Bumper Dragon". Nevertheless it will be built. I'm not into wasting plastic. I like the "Blazer" idea... or maybe a 4 door suburban would be cool as well. Here's a photo of the shorty... pardon the gaps and fitment. It's very early yet. Next!

We have a member in our local club and he's the king of mock ups! He sent me pics of his latest stuff, I thought I'd share here... -

I'll build it eventually and put it on a trailer behind the van.? should I put the engine in the back? -

Extreme Mock-up! Leftovers from the cab forward concept van will make up the Gasser "short bus"... very early still so pardon the gaps and fitment please.? -
I've been working on this thing every day on and off steadily. I really haven't got alot accomplished despite the amount of time I've been spending on it. This build has really stretched my boundaries... kinda dogging my soul honestly. I have all the door hinges mounted. Now on to closing the door jambs and fabbing panels. I'm optimistic but reserved at this point... ?

Me too! That looks fantastic! It looks like the side of the box art kit but with Centerlines, which really fit the 80's style. I love it ... and to think it was painted so long ago is just incredible. The trim work and classic Black 57 Chevy paint job is a timeless look, this build proves that even after 35 years it still looks Awesome!

I know exactly what you mean... The mind of a model maker is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I've been trying to get the Van finished before the beginning of March and It has been driving me crazy. Sorry, not related to the CBR, well, kinda... it was a project I was trying to finish for the 2019 CBR (Vannonball Run). Never made it to the starting line. Latley it has become my top priority and has snowballed out of control. I want to finish this so I can get moving on Clyde's Wrecker. I hope that project doesn't end up like the Van 3 years later.??? -

Great Idea... I've got a friend, Jeremiah Purks, he builds alot of Mustangs... an inspiring builder... Here's one he built for inspiration. Awesome progress to everyone! Keep up the good work! -
Little by little I'm making progress on this build, Slow goin' so I feel like I need to celebrate the small victories to keep moving forward... and in this case it's a simple mock up. I'm chasing bodywork and still sorting out the floors. All while pondering color, theme, and other details ... Should I go with a wood floor in the back or metal floor bed. Thinking TS-81 Royal light grey for the interior. The plan is to dedicate the weekend to getting the rest of the fab work done.

Due out March 2022. It's Lego (ish) but I've built AirFix kits before and they build up nicely. Simple but really neat kits. This one has my attention, if nothing but for parts. The tires are really Cool IMO. Designed from the Radical 2017 real concept Jeep... Gasser, Off-road Mountain Climber, and Show Rod combined all in one! ?
-
Be Aware... My friend and fellow local club member got his and when he opened it, the engine parts chrome tree for the Nail head was not in the kit. Instead the parts tree for the Chevy Small Block was in the kit but no SBC engine. It must'a been a mix up at the factory. As these kits are somewhat of a factory kit bash of sorts between the Model A Roadster and Coupe. He asked me to look on the forum and see if anyone else has had the same problem. Hopefully it was just a simple mix up and not a mass assembly situation.
-
My initial plan was to paint this thing 1970 Grabber Yellow. Now that I've had over a year to think about it, maybe I should go with something more period correct... I'm leaning towards a factory stock look with maybe a company logo on the panels... I still have to come up with something for that. The wheels will either be body color or black with the wheel covers painted white.. (if I paint the body Wimbledon white) which I know is a Ford color but I think chevy had a version of cream white also... I'm gonna give it a think. meanwhile here is some choices I have in mind...

Probably one of the design flaws on my part for sure, but I'll just have to call it a "Learn from my mistakes" and keep moving at this point. I'm hopeful that the finished project will look uniform enough that it won't be as noticeable... What is unique about the cab forward design is it doesn't require the engine to set back. The engine is in the stock location. The Body is the only thing that changed. I had to move the firewall forward and the dash back. It's crazy how it works because if there's a head on collision the driver will likely eat the engine. Not really a smart design for safety. ? I like the 6cyl idea too.
-
Thanks guys! I'm gonna try to put close to 40 hrs in a week til it's done so I'm committed from sure. I just don't have a lot of time to decide what to do... I'm working on extending the dash now and l'm using Revell 66 Elcamino seats and I have to scratchbuild a front floor board too. It's both fun and terrifying at the same time. ???
